Also, color me surprised on the gender/sex breakdown so far.

Why's that Lamp? The vast majority of people who play 40k are male, so it's not surprising the vast majority of SoB players would be as well.

As I sort of explained in my first post, I've heard throughout the years I've been playing 40k, that a majority of SoB players are female. Having only met one other SoB player IRL and she was female, I had no real data one way or the other (I didn't play SoB at that time, making her the only other SoB player that I have known of).

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.

I'm male and SoB would probably have been my first choice of army if not for the metal models. I hope the rumors about upcoming plastic models are true!

I just hope they tone down the Dominatrix-style models like the Sisters Repentia with their Mistress of Repentance. Those are just plain stupid, and if they were even needed, could have been done in a cooler way.

Oh come on AegisGrimm! While yes they are way over the top, and I like the pretty ladies being in one piece as opposed to shredded by chainswords, it is kind of necessary to show how fanatical they are. Not saying I like or require it, I'm saying the story of the game requires it. Sad but true, you should have a soft spot for these women if you field them.

I like the theory of the unit, but the models are a fugly way to show skin. While it would lower the skin-factor, having them in robes wielding Eviscerators would be just as cool. Or maybe looking like Esher gangers from Necromunda.

Or just have a special Seraphim unit that jumps into battle armed with just Eviscerators because they believe the Emperor's wrath has to be delivered up close, Redemptionist-style. Maybe with a Howling Banshee style Initiative boost for the first turn of an assault as the girls come out of the sky, chainsaw-first.

In my opinion, better than BDSM nuns.

Mmmm... here's hoping the new SoB Codex will have options to let me use, or make a suitable counts-as Redemptionist Cult army...

I like the BDSM nun look - not for the whole army, but for the most penitent and self hating lot of an already deeply disturbed bunch of religious nutters. That's why I also own a bunch of arco-flagellants and Penitent Engines.

I've been playing the SoB for years, and it is primarily because their over the top, violent, often self-hating religious fanaticism is like catnip to my atheist self. As far as I am concerned, the SoB are one of the most terrifying armies in 40k. I love seeing the crap they are willing to do to *themselves* in the name of their faith, and showing my opponent just what they are willing to do to them. BDSM nuns fit right in.

When the new will come out, I may be interested in them. But since I have not yet decided, and did not feel like choosing the 'I dont play SoB' option, I choose 'other'. Sorry, just had to do it

I'm a guy. Played SoB for about 1.5 years, my first army in 40k.

I like burning things, and I love braces of pistols aka Seraphim. I'll prolly have a field day when the new dex comes.

I dont play sisters myself but my friend does he's always loved the sisters and has a large force of them, its a shame he does not rate the mini dex so they dont come out anymore.

If they ever do get plastics i'd pick some up for myself, no way i'm picking up metal models for £4 each though.

As mentioned though, the vast majority of players in general are male. Although a higher percentage of sisters players may be female as opposed to other armies, that percentage is still tiny compared to that of male players.

That would be an interesting poll, from a sociology POV.

I said I would never ever change from Grey Knights.

I'm afraid I seem to have lied/been wrong.

Lately, I've been buying up old Mk1 rhinos to wash them and repaint them for my Sisters army.

I'm really hyped about this. I enjoyed the one game I've played with sisters much more than my GK (I lost, but oh so much more fun) and I'm going all out with building my tanks on Mk1 hulls and all sorts of conversions planned.

When (fingers crossed) the plastics drop, I'm changing over completely.

As it has been said many times, this poll fails to measure popularity of SoB among female players. Overwhelming majority of the players are male, and even if most female players favoured SoB, they still would be in minority. You'd need a poll asking: 'Female players, what army do you play?' in order to see whether SoB were indeed most popular choice for women.

And I kinda doubt it. As amazing as this may seem, 'fetish nuns with guns' might not be a concept with an universal appeal to women afterall.

Join us Purifier! The Promethium calls to you!

It would be interesting to get a proper break down on what female players play. I know two female players off the top of my head, on plays orkz and the other plays dark eldar.

What? Did you play one game and get stomped?

Sisters are a pretty solid list and have been in all but the 3rd Edition: BBB.

3 days? Yeah, that's plenty of time to learn an army and determine it's capabilities...........................

Since the majority of gamers are male it's not surprise that more males play SoB... however it could very well be that a higher percentage of female gamers play as SoB compared to other armies, but you would need some deep GWS data to prove that.

I started out building a SoB army as my first 40k army and sold them because I didn't like the metal models. I love their fluff though. I would consider making one if/when plastic/finecast figures come out.

One unit with fetish undertones does not a "fetish nun" army make, anymore than flagellants made the medieval catholic church a BDSM community. As amusing as the BDSM nun tag is, it isn't really accurate even for Repentia, and the army as a whole is one of the least sexualized range of female models out there. Reps are a special case.

Interestingly, I've met two girls who played other armies when they started out and stated they loved my army, but they had never *heard* of the SoB when they were picking out their armies.

I'm thinking about getting sisters as soon as buying an army for sisters is cheaper than a DKOK army.

I am a male, and I play sisters because they're the closest I'll ever come to having physical contact with a woman.
