I actually have one friend I play 40k with, that the goal is to bring the most awesome broken but weird competitive list possible vs each other. It works, but others do not find it to appealing to play, and sometimes do him as a win at all costs player. He likes to play a challenging game, so that's how it is.
I was thinking after my last Aleph game, we random draw 5 mission cards and pick 3 to try to accomplish. 2 of the best ones I had a choice of involved interacting with fallen enemy models, and the enemy HQ. I never even got close, so I was looking for an option that would allow me to start much closer to this kind of objectives. No greasiness intended, just another tool for the tool box.
I do agree upon cursory reading of the impersonation rules, that it is probably too strong. The rule is not specific about when you are revealed. So obviously if you shoot someone in the back, you would be revealed, what about scanning information on the headquaters? or scanning a dead body? Will that reveal you?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry to ramble.

The rules are extremely specific about what reveals an Impersonator.
'The only Skills whose execution does not automatically reveal the impersonator are Cautious Movement and any Short Movement Skills that do not require any roll (except Alert). The Impersonator reveals automatically when he is in base contact with another figure.'
http://infinitythegame.wikispot.org/impersonation
In other words, pretty well all of my YAMS objectives that involve interacting with models etc. will reveal the Impersonator.

A thing came up today:
When an Impersonator charges, what can the units with AROs do? I can hold action for the movement, then he announced CC and I am now able to shoot him? Will he be shot before or after cc?

The Impersonator won't be revealed until they reach BtB. This means that:
The charged model can't announce a BS Attack ARO as he never saw the unrevealed Impersonator until he was already in combat. He'll have to announce Dodge or CC Attack and this will usually take place after the Impersonator's MA3 attack.
Onlookers can announce BS Attack AROs but will be shooting into combat with the usual -6 modifier and a chance of hitting your own model. It's still worth doing...

ok, noob question. how the heck do you actually get into close combat?
it seems it would be very hard with all of the ARO a model would be setting off trying to get close.

But yeah, as you've seen, it's really hard to get into Close Combat. Most of the time, your better off shooting =P

Rear arc charges from Out of LoF is how you get into cc.
Don't do it from the front (smoke) against visors or sixth sense L2.

OK, incredibly stupid question....The Lieutenant order, am i right in thinking that you get this every turn? Or just once per game? Assuming the first one, but, just in case....

Also note that the extra lieutenant order must be used on the lieutenant. It's a good thing to look out which models haven't moved or done anything if your opponent still has an order left over at the end of their turn..

Sneaky...i know you dont have to declare when you are using it (obviously, as you would then reveal the Lt...), but i hadnt thought about watching for order use like that, thanks Pacific!

I've played a pile of games and have only encountered 3 TFGs. They typically are looking for LoF loopholes mainly however Infinity has a nasty way of biting TFGs. Since every model can be extremely deadly it is easy for their plans to backfire or for them to be so set on a plan that they don't know how to switch to plan B when things mess up.
I've found that in large, TFGs in Infinity either settle down or just stop playing out of frustration. Win/Win
EDIT: Helps if I notice there is a page 2 lol
Lt order is typically either unspent or gives away your LT as "one of these 2 models". There is also some armies that just don't care. "Yeah this TAG is my Lt, bring it".

I tend to use my Lt order for guts checks (Neoterra) or reforming a link team when the leader is killed. Neither use gives away the Lt model.
Otherwise, I try to move every model - so the Lt order gets hidden in the bunch.

I am new to Infinity but I guess you could do some reverse-pshychology then and "accidentally" let slip who your lieutenant is (after making sure there's no more nasty surprises in your opponents list of course) as a way to lure your opponent to overextend himself as he goes for the kill, or not?

Cool.
On another, completely unrelated topic:
I am new to Infinty and am struggling to chose a faction. To me it seems that Myrmidons are pretty straight-forward to play; that is you pursue your opponent aggressively, advancing under cover of smoke until the right moment when you let rip. A very much in your face army and with Achilles as the hammer to the Myrmidons anvil.
Any thoughts on this, is it complicated to use smoke for instance?
Just as a side note, I am not looking for an i-win button. I just want a cool and simple army as my first for Infinity and I really like the Myrmidon miniatures.
I also like Druze shock troops a lot and am contemplating the "Silk Road" sectorial with them as a base, because they too seem relatively straight forward. I general my prefered tactic is to make use of strong and dependable troops (I am guessing medium infantry would be Infinitys equivalent) without any fancy tricks. Any recommendations or suggestions along these lines would greatly help me in my decision making.

The next book, Paradiso, will include what seems to be a Druze T.A.G. just to let you know. The one after that will provide a Druze Sectorial too!
If you don't care about ITS, you could make a Mercenary company. Once I get my Merovingian in order, and fielded, I might go for a Druze/Scarface/Guarda company.

If that's the case, I advise you to wait for the "Campaign: Paradiso" book. The one--and only--Sectorial List(a special sublist of a faction) is ALEPH's "Special Services Section--Assault Subsection", aka "Achilles and Friends".
What we know so far about it is that it will feature the smallest "maximum size" Link Teams(3 person squads at max, rather than a max of 5) with the requirement that a "hero" be in the Link Team.
I also like Druze shock troops a lot and am contemplating the "Silk Road" sectorial with them as a base, because they too seem relatively straight forward. Bear in mind that with the Qapu Khalqi Sectorial, you are able to field the most Druze Shock Troops of any faction/listing out there...which is 4.
If you want a "Medium Infantry" heavy force, consider PanOceania's NeoTerran Capitaline Army.
They have as their "core troops" the Auxilia. The NeoTerran force can also field quite a few other interesting looking units which tie into a nice looking force, thematically.
Kovnik is correct though in that there is going to be a Sectorial for Mercenaries in the book after Paradiso, but what exactly it entails is relatively unknown. What we do know is that there is the Druze within the listing and a new force in the form of "Kaplan Tactical Solutions".
There is also Scarface and Cordelia coming out, which are a brother/sister mercenary team with a distinctive Druze flair.

I thought most people played on 4x6 but from what I see from the new scenrios, it seems like 4x4 is standard.

I think the two old missions they had on their webpage used 4'x4', and so it became marked as the "standard".
However, "standard" might not be the correct word, it's more like "the most commonly used". After all, since there is no official table size in infinity, it's all about preferences.
Until the missions come out, that is.

Oh, they were? Hah, never knew.
I wonder if this means we'll get missions with different table sizes? I'd say that'd be interesting. Automatically Appended Next Post: I've got a question btw, something I just came to think of. It has to do with coordinated orders, everything happening at the same time and template weapons.
So, let's say a player named Bob has two Fusiliers, standing like this:
F......F
Then, he makes a coordinated ordet of Move - (something else) so that the Fusilier in the back advance to where the other Fusilier stood, and the front Fusilier moves forward.
But wait! An ARO! A Noctifier with a Missile Launcher reveals itself and hits the front Fusilier. He wants the shot to be made at the beginning of movement. The other Fusilier is left untouched by the explosion, but since he moves into it's area of effect, and everything happens at the same time, one could argue that he too would be hit.
Do you understand what I mean?
Basically:
Fusiliers order move, Noctifier AROs shoot.
F1.......F2 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . N
The shot is made before any model is moved, and it hits. E is the area of the explosion.
............E
F1....E.F2.E. . . . . . . . . . . . N
............E
Then the Fusiliers move.
..............E
..........E.F1.E.......F2. . . . . N
..............E
Now the Fusilier 1 is in the area of effect of the blast, and since the whole order is simultaneous, you could argue that he would be there to take the hit too...

So, uhm... another, a bit simpler question regarding impersonators.
What happens if you fail the Wip roll? Is the impersonator deployed in your opponents DZ in recognized mode?
And can you really place an impersonator a half inch from an enemy unit?

From the wiki http://infinitythegame.wikispot.org/impersonation :
The Marker can be deployed within the 12 inch strip of the enemy Deployment Zone after passing a WIP Roll. If he fails his WIP roll, the miniature deploys as a normal figure as if he had been discovered and recognized as an enemy.
So you better hope you have the first turn =P
And yes, you can deploy the impersonator that close. Anywhere but in base contact.
