5/. 40K.

I love 40K, don't ge tme wrong, but i don't actually need to spend that much money on it these days. I have a ton of Orks (but need to paint most of them.. not expensive but very tiem consuming), and only really spend money on 40k for tournament entries at my local (mostly on my DE)

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so

I thought we were just counting hobby budget?

Obviously, rent, food, car payments, child care, health care, taxes, cable and such are a higher portion of most people's overall budgets.

However, strictly a gaming budget-- I rarely actually purchase minis these days, mostly just trade stuff. So, #1 is stuff I have trouble trading for (limited edition, OOP, rare, etc.), #2 is shipping

In this order usually:

1. Warhammer 40k
2. Board/Card Games
3. Books
4. Random Models and Conversion Bitz from other companies
5. Wii or PS3 Games

I average about 50 bucks a month over the year. Some months spending none and others 150-200 depending on what is released, hobby stuff has a bad habit of coming out all at once forcing tough decisions! Being a stay home dad and trophy husband I am eternally grateful to my game gurl wifey. We spend more in single purchases for board or card games but probably more overall on 40k stuff as long as there is a new edition, supplement, or update to one of our armies.

At the moment, I've entered a few of the Kickstarter things so it looks like this (recent, say, 6 months)

1. Kickstarter (Reaper & Mantic though models are intended for GW conversion bits)
2. ebaying OOP 40k models
3. paint/materials
4. new models

I don't play any other games, don't read comics, don't play video games. I spend a fair amount on theatre tickets, but that's classed as work.

If I was less busy, Kickstarter would easily be replaced by the cost of going to the occasional tournament. I don't really intend to back a lot of Kickstarters, but even if I go to one tournament in six months the cost of petrol, accommodation, food, ticket etc would easily equal my hobby purchases for those six months...

Some people don't read that closely, and some people I guess just want to point out how limited their resources are. Which is a shame, as even if you spend $100 a year on hobby stuff, you still make choices.

I feel for those that are broke (not too far removed from it myself), but I'm not ashamed of having a hobby budget greater than a lot of people's incomes.

Pandemic is awesome, grab the expansion if you haven't already. Small World is also great fun, and I recommend Globalization too: its a spoof on owning the world's economy-somewhere between Risk and Monopoly, with a Steve Jackson personality mixed in. Speaking of SJ, I recommend Ninja Burger too-just played it, and it's awesome. Dominion and Ascension make for great deck-building games too.

My current budgets include:
Movies
Video Games
Dust Warfare (replaced Warhammer almost entirely)
Board/Card games
Exercise equipment

Oh agreed, its my fifth most expensive hobby, since the price of anything associated with the ATF(alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) is pretty high, and well all of them are things I do as a hobby, I find warhammer to be a relatively cheap hobby

I don't have a top 5 of gaming things. It's my one major hobby. My photography isn't a "hobby" - it's something I used to do for a job and now do purely when I get the time (holidays).

Beer isn't part of gaming, it's a part of life.

I'm going to leave life expenses, going out, clothes off my list and just stick to my wargaming hobby. Here's what I'm most likely to spend on. Most of the miniatures below are bought used and the priority list below can get mixed around quite a bit depending on what kind of deals I'm finding at any give time.

1)Terrain building supplies. This could run the gammut from old toys, to hardware store supplies, to porcelain houses, etc. I'm always building terrain, but I seem to acquire the supplies even faster than I build.

2)Post Apoc figure deals. If I find a figure or a vehicle that's on sale that I can shoehorn into my post apoc collection, it likely get's bought. This can be anything includingpost-apoc specific figs, modern cops, necromunda figs, or suitable sci-fi figs from various defunct games.

3)Fantasy figs for Song of Blades warbands. Not as much now that the Reaper kickstarter is over, but I still keep an eye out for deals to supplement my warbands.

4) Suplemental figs for my Sci-Fi armies. I have Void Junker, Spacelords Sarday'kin, and Denizen Khiff armies that I'm always on the lookout for more figs and vehicles that would be suitable. Also if I find deals on the Mechwarrior figs that I build my 10mm sci-fi armies from.

5)Old GW figs. I don't seek them out, but I do acquire old Necromunda and RT era space marine figures and figures that could fit an inquisitorial theme when they appear. I'll paint them up someday.... Like the OP, actively buying 40k dropped off my list years ago, though when a real bargain (metal figs in the 1-2 buck range) presents itself I do sometimes buy.

The priority of the list above is constantly in flux because as my group cycles through our games I'm more apt to spend money on the game we are currently playing.
