Chaos Lord (170)
Mark of Khorne
Axe of Blind Fury
Sigil of Corruption
Juggernaut of Khorne

On the charge, he has 3base+1 for 2 CCW+2 from rage+1 from the Juggernaut for 7 attacks, so he basically has 9-13 attacks unless you roll a 1 in which case he has 7 attacks at WS1. But the 16% chance is totally worth it considering that said attacks are Str6 and have an AP of 2!

This. I have one in my CSM army. He kills lots of stuff every game, just don't charge TH/SS terminators and the like, other units can deal with that. Plus, the Cavalry ... I cannot get past how sexy the Calvary rule is for him ...

I have to say, the Burning Brand of Skalathrax is looking pretty sexy, too, though it has no room in my list.

Well, I'm looking for a Chaos Lord on bike with
MoS, power sword, melta bombs, sigil, gift of mutation.
What else would you take?

On a bike, probably burning brand. You do lose an attack, but you can just take a Lightning Claw instead of the power sword.

Agreed, 12" move, 12" range, 8" template... very far reaching... you can kinda count it has his "ultra doom siren" for a Slaaneshi Lord.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I would concur that templates on bikes are effective, Eldar's S5 Ap4 doesn't autokill marines, but its' still awesome. I think the Burning Brand on a bike would be a good idea.

I wonder about the Disc or the Palanquins, if they'd be good at all.

Burning Brand is indeed nice, but also rather expensive. You get two and a half CSM for it.

Lord - Mark of Khorne, Juggernaut, Axe of Blind Fury

Optional: Sigil of Corruption/Aura of Dark Glory , Meltabombs, Gift of Mutation

Stick him with cultists or bikers for meat shields. The invulns are optional mostly because his biggest defense is killing everything around him. If you plan on going character hunting (Why would you? This guy is for chewing up units, let unit champs issue the challenges) then the invuln is a good idea.

If you read the wording on artefacts it says you may replace one weapon with an artefact. Meaning you can only take one so no axe and burning brand.

I'm looking at the possibility of a nurgle palanquin lord to stay at the front and absorb hits though perhaps a terminator armoured lord would do it better possibly with a brand to let him contribute offensively.

Tournament Results:

Throne of Skulls (Jan 2012) 5/0/0
X Legion (Feb 2012) 3/1/2 13/40
6th ed score: (15/2/3)

I dunno about the palaquin... more wounds is cool, but alot of points for the occasional low AP absorption, unless the opponent commits, which then it'll be very mildly amusing.
I think a bike, being criminally cheap (SMurfs pay 35), is a great choice before steeds come into play. T6 and speed when he needs it. Only issue is, if you are running rhino spam, then a palaquin is likely the only choice if you want him in transport...bulky rule is not so bad.... you can fit him and a 7 man squad into a Rhino...............Plague Marines come in squads of 7

I don't know. Last night was my first chance to really sit down with the new codex. I'm doing a Renegade army with some Tzeentch Marked units, which I know isn't as strong as Khorne or Nurgle, but those don't appeal to me.

Still mulling over lists. I'll probably run a Sorcerer most of the time, anyway.

Read the burning brand closer, it states otherwise. Only the artifact weapons replace other weapons. The brand gets branded on your skin so you don't need to hold something instead of it. (Fluff reason)

P. 54 under transport capacity.

And no, buring brand is a flamer used by Kharn. Plus the Chaos Wargear list clearly says each Chaos Artifect replaces one weapon.

If you kill like 2 loyalist marines it pays for itself already. And it will probably kill more.

One thing im not sure about is whether the combi-bolter on your bike count as a weapon for exchanging wargears?

regular chaos bikers can exchange their combi bolters for weapons. No where does it say characters can. they just have normal bikes, which have twin linked bolters. It would be nice if they could, but see no permission to do so.

The Murder Sword isn't a bad way to go about going for Slay the Warlord in most missions.

Also, I just realized lots of CSM players should be rolling on the Personal Warlord Traits table, as "Legendary Fighter" combines with an CC geared warlord who must issue/accept challenges quite well. It's certainly good for Juggernaut or Bike Lords ... makes even more use out of him assaulting a squad and either gaining a VP for fighting the Character, or denying the character's use in the game. The other traits are all very good, especially for the Nurgle Bikers, as they could gain Furious Charge from the table, too.

For me, I'm thinking of using the following:

Lord, Mark of Nurgle, Bike, Fist, Lightning Claw: 140.
Fast, Flexible, Cheap (compared to my SMurf biker Captain) and any extra points can be put into random stuff like Blight Grenades, Sigil, etc.

As great as a 4++ is, I believe the T6 will hold out well enough, but I do sometimes have 25 points left over.

Legendary Fighter is aweful. If you get it, your opponenet will never accept your warlords challenge. You get no victory points and go home sad.

any chump with a 2+ save and a powerfist will rock you.
you going to have fun being forced to accept the challenge of that ork warboss? what about a terminator sergeant?
newcron anything with warsythe and weave?
wolf guard as grey hunter leader in terminator armor with a fist.
the list goes on. T6 doesnt save you from much serious character killing out there. The ++ save is a must.

aww just saw the power fist... still ++ save is needed.

I understand your logic, unless versus a CSM player ... all of the auto-challenges going off each round of assault are kinda funny. This would rock on your Warlord for this matchup still. Plus, you can still find opportunities to catch a Warlord on his lonesome, when he cannot refuse your challenge ... I feel like extra Victory Points are a good thing, if it works out. And even in the cases your opponent refuses the challenge, well then his squad will suffer for he lack of his Character's participation.

Cheap Lord - Power weapon, Aura of dark Glory, whatever mark you need - 110

Good for making a squad fearless or unluck troops.

Terminator CC Lord - Termie armor, Sigil, Power sword, Power Axe, MoT - 157 (15 more points you can use LC/PF combo instead)

2+/3++, still gets additional CCW attack, can choose between sword or axe. Ideally leads a MoT Termie squad.
Not bad for cost consider an equivalent BA captain cost about the same with Termie armor and TH/SS.

Bike Lord - Bike, Burning Brand, Lightning Claw, Sigil, MoN - 170

Look at me! I am T6! And running around buring you down!

Melta Bomb is good on all acount.

How to build a Chaos Lord is also depending on the question about the unit you want to run your Lord.
A Biker Lord could go with Bikers or Spawns.
On the other hand, a lumbering Lord on foot is not really worth it if you plan to kit him out for cc; he may never reach it.

In fact, with LoS the Lord should bring the Spawns to their destiny with minimal casualties.

Are you sure that this is what it means? It could mean that one weapon replaces one of your weapons (as usual), but you can replace both weapons. But maybe it means that you can have only one... I'm not sure.

I guess a Lord with MoN and a power sword is cheapish for 95 to catch some bullets when sitting in with the plague marines.
