Why decide? Do both.

Here is how I run my Chaos lord when I field Terminators.

Chaos lord of Nurgle

Terminator armour
2x ligthning claws
Sigil Of Corruption
Combat Familiar
Veteran of the long war

He normaly goes in a unit of 10 Chaos Terminators, I prefer to deepstrike them in since the landraider now can potetialy eat your own men witch is bad. So far he has done well, its not the most competative build but I like it. And for the mere price of 172 points he dose well


For my regular Chaos lord

Murder sword
Plasma pistol
Melta bombs
Ichor of blood
Mark of Khorne

I stuff this one with a unit of Bezerkers and hope for the best, some times they do stuff and some times they eat Las fire and die

For cheap, dual HQ list with plague marines:

Lord
MoN
Power Weapon
Palanquin
Sigil

Walks with 10 Chosen, 5x Plasma Guns, Champ w/Axe or Fist & Plasma Pistol

Other HQ is lvl 3 Sorcerer

Really turned off by the black mace: AP4, so no reliable kills for its price in a MEQ game....

Having 5-11 attacks that hit on a 3+ and wound on a 2+ seem like it's reliable enough for an MEQ kill.

He can exchange his pistol for the black mace ... keeping the Power Sword, so you can choose which to use, depending on targets. Plus, you still get your bonus attack. I would agree that the Black Mace is IDEAL for DP's as it's upgraded to AP2, but still an interesting option for a lord, albeit not AS scary. but just get one wound off ... and you start the toughness test bubble vs a wound, that will add a lot more wounds with no saves of any kind allowed. So, an average of 5-6 hits will net an average of 1-2 wounds vs Marines, pretty reliable for causing pretty much every enemy you're in base with to have a 5+ chance of taking a wound, getting around those pesky Invulnerable saves.

Chaos terminator Lord
- Mark of Khorne (to make bezerkers troops
- Terminator armor
- dual lightning claws
- Veteran of the Long War
- ichor blood

142 point lord who i mostly tack on with a squad of bezerkers

I take him because:
- with the mark, most of my army is made of bezerkers
- terminator armor is good for holding off ranged attacks while he can get in close with his claws.
- veterans of the long war gives hatred (space marines)
- ichor blood inflicts hits on unsaved wounds in assault

he can hold his own, but packs a punch in a group
