Nah stick with one of the chapters you've been keen on! the other thing you could do is make a force of 'Exorcists' marines, they use the same scheme as the AE and you could use the BA rules and have aplay around with the other colours etc. call the squads different names and use them that way?

I was leaning AE, but i went through the pros and cons and i cant make up my mind. Some good examples of why to go each would be nice

Ive been redoing my future BA list, and im only going to be taking 5 SG and probably 5 DC, so i dont think the white would be worth doing. Even though FT's are losing, they are going to likely be the chapter i will do. Thanks for your help guys.

I have got a captain here I am dying to paint, and guess what? Im still undecided. I have never been good at making decisions. I've got some SG too i am about to paint. I would just straight ahead go FT's, but im worried that gold SG wont look good in a flesh tearer army, what do you think about?

Seems like my best bet, i'll put a bit of a FT Twist on them with a few gold trims.

The gold looks good in a FT army if its washed and done non-ridiculously. Also if you're only taking a 5 man unit of each then the white isn't worth it

Go with the Angels, if only for more unique painting opportunities.

Flesh Tearers are played out.

Where i am, there is no FT players - that I know of. I'm not a big fan of the standard Angel Encarmine Marines, i prefer a darker red, would a way round this to be just to wash/paint them a more Flesh tearer colour?

Of course you can paint them darker. Look at the difference between current blood angels and the old 2nd edition ones. They used to be really bright, now they aren't. Same with Ultramarines for that matter.

I agree with this. I don't paint any of my SM minis like GW. Space Wolves look horrible in baby blue and bright yellow. Darker is better in my opinion, fits with the 40k universe too, rather than those dazzling pastel colours.

I have seen plenty of guys (including my brother an me) play Flesh Tearers but i haven't seen any play Angels Encarmine and for that they get my vote on this one P.S. please post the pics as a gallery when you finish with them.

I'm going to outlook the "pros" and "cons" of going Fleshies and AE.

FLESH TEARERS:
PROS:
-Awesome colour scheme, the crimson with the black, IMO looks great, plus the mainly black vehicles.
-Some great fluff
-Gabriel Seth is an awesome fluffy HQ.
-Not Played in my area.
CONS:
-Seem "overplayed" on dakka, and the internet.
-Have only 400 men left, meaning theres a chance they will be "killed off"
-SG are gold, which might not go well with the rest of the army
-Not as much Creative opportunity.


ANGELS ENCARMINE
PROS:
-White SG and DC
-Less Played
-More Unique
-Lots of Creative Opportunity
CONS:
-Virtually no Fluff
-Normal Troop colour scheme is not great, imo.
-Im only running a 5 Man DC, and a 5man SG, so it might not be worth it.
-Not much support from GW - ie, might be killed off like the Flesh Tearers.
-White hard to paint, apparently.


I'm on the verge of deciding. I seem to be leaning to Flesh Tearers, but then someone will give me a great supporting answer for AE...

Here's your supporting answer for AE. White is easy to paint. Virtually no fluff is a pro, you can make your own. You can alter the colour scheme to your preference, make the red darker, black helms, total freedom.

And just to be fair. All your ft cons don't matter. They aren't overplayed. Certainly more common that AE, but it's not as if they're everywhere. Don't worry if gw kill them off. Your guys can be a surviving strike force thought lost. Thirdly, if you don't like gold, paint them white. Which leads me to the fourth point. You can have all the creative freedom you want. I feel that this is what I keep trying to stress. You must not feel you have to make YOUR army any other way than what YOU want just because of a couple of photos in a codex and a couple of pieces of creative fiction.

Remember that, fluffily speaking, the legends of these space marine chapters are written by remembrancers. Creative writers passing stories down through the ages. You don't have to stick strictly to it... you can tell it "how it really happened".

Just do what YOU wanna do. Make it how YOU like it.

Thanks a lot Alan, you put a lot into perspective. I've decided to go with Flesh Tearers, but, i will give my own spin on things, and now that i notice it, there isnt actually that much fluff for the Tearers anyway, still giving me lots of freedom. Also, i doubt the FT's will be killed off anytime soon - they've just released a novella on them! I cant wait to start on them.

My flesh tearers have been gifted with blood angel vets and tanks from master Dante. My SG will be bronze and my dc silvery black.

I'll make it one for my christmas list! I have read of the FT Lore, and i do already really like it, so it might be good to give it a read, and maybe listen to the audiobook of them and the AE in the stromark civil war.

So?.... it's been a while. What did you decide?
