Y'know what a pair of choppas does though?

A) breaks the rules just the same
B) Nothing beneficial lol

You could always Use the twin slugga Boys as Shootas.

I love the new Gunslinger rule for Pistols, especially with how cheap SW becomes. Sample 500 Point List:

HQ
Wolf Priest w/ Combi-Melta, Melta Bombs (115) {A}

Troops
5x Grey Hunters w/ 1x Meltagun (80)
5x Grey Hunters w/ 1x Meltagun (80)

Elites
5x Wolf Guard w/ 10x Plasma Pistol, Drop Pod (225) {A}

Total 500 Points

The Meltas are just there in case TFG brings an AV14 unit to a 500 Point game.

Couldn't you just bring 5 Plasma Guns?

Wolfguard just get Combi-Plasma if I remember correctly, but either way, a consistent 10 shots that you can assault with after isn't to be sneezed at, especially out of a drop pod that will arrive where ever it wants turn 1.

I thought if that is considered 'fair' then I could do a whole mob this way and get double the shots out of a mob that still gets an extra attack in CC. Probably not legal on rereading, as they are allowed to swap for a shoota, not for more sluggas or choppas. But you see orks with a pair of choppas all the time, so...?

I changed the double slugga boy back to a normal slugga/choppa. I'm still on 5th ed :(

I think it would look cool to have a few double slugga models in a shoota unit, however having an entire unit with them may confuse some players that look at the models in passing and think they are slugga boyz.
