Hello - any update on the new system? Am putting in my vote, too, for porting over old reps to the new system if there's a way to do it. Many thanks for the hard work.

Thanks for all the hard work on this. It will be a real milestone for Dakka when this baby comes online.

Why dont those concerned about losing their trading reputation just take screen caps of the appropriate section and have it saved? Then if the reputations and reports are not carried across you can just show the screen cap to the parties involved in any futute trade or sumbit it to one of the mods and ask very kindly for them to add it to the new system Never the less im interested to see the new system and how it is implemented

This new feature doesn't look very promising. Maybe go back to the old way?

What new feature? Nothing is in place yet...
The Swap Shop Reputable Traders list exists in a sort of limbo state at the moment. The idea of having an updatable list detailing positive trades is a good idea in principle and indeed worked well for some time when the Swap Shop traffic level was lower than it is now. Currently, the Reputable Traders list generates around 3 new pages of content per week (assuming my maths are correct!) with around ~30 posts or trades per page, that's more or less 90 new trades that need to be added to the list every week, which is a fair amount of work for anyone willing to take up the mantle of keeping the thread updated. I did so for a while, Ketara did it prior to me and we both eventually struggled as real-life and time constraints impinged. Simply put, the volume of trades and traffic that the Swap Shop has grown to has made the idea of having a manually updated thread detailing trades purely unworkable so the only real way forward is to develop an automated system that goes hand in hand with an overhaul of the entire Swap Shop sub-forum. This is something that Legoburner has on his 'to do' list but it is something that is not especially high on that list; there are other more pressing items that require his attention and overhauling the Swap Shop and trade system is a large amount of effort in and of itself.
Dakka has not traditionally been a forum for trading; it is something that the owners of the site, Yakface and Legoburner, weren't entirely keen on doing for various reasons but eventually they gave way to public demands and created the Swap Shop forum. However, it has grown to an extent where we see a significant chunk of users whose only presence on Dakka is to trade - I'm not sure that is something Yakface and Legoburner are wildly ecstatic about - Dakka is supposed to be a discussion forum first and foremost - but it is what it is. Clearly this means that going forward, if we are to continue offering a venue for trading, it needs to be done with a more automated and robust system. All that takes time and effort so unfortunately, the upshot of it all is to be patient until such time as this appears. In the meantime, the Reputable Traders thread will soldier on as is for reference - although it isn't updated, people can at the least search through the thread to find positive trade reports. It's not great, but at least it is something.
Ultimately, the Reputable Traders thread stands as a small tool in your armoury against bad trading and you should see it as only that; one small cog in the machine. Don't fall into the trap of using it as a crutch for trading. Just because someone has positive trades does not mean you should head into trades blasé and vice versa. It should be one small piece of information, used in conjunction with other due diligence before deciding to trade with someone. There are many things you can do to check if someone is 'good' before trading with them; the Reputable Traders thread is just one small part of that process and should be viewed as such.

Is there... ANY word on a new system or any system that will be updated in the Swap Shop?
Just curious. Last post here is from about a year ago and the Reputable Traders list is nice but not updated.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Not at the moment. Lego has been extremely busy recently and I imagine that any potential revamp of the Swap Shop is quite low down the totem pole.
