Didn't he carry a .. Luger.? .. or something as well ?
For years after Secret Wars ended you'd come across dusty old toy stores or the discount bin and the only Secret Wars figure there would be was Kang the Conqueror. All on his lonesome, sometimes kept company by "Dune" action figures -- did they really think people would want a Sting based action figire ?!? .
One wonders if this fact perhaps tainted or soured ones' attitude towards Kang and is perhaps one of the reasons to this day I still kind of view him as a sad and essentially worthless villain.
I do dig Jack Knight's look -- those funky goggles -- and also am ridiculously fond of Will "Starman" Payton's 2nd costume, the mainly black one, his first yellow and purple was truly awful

Kang had a pretty good story arc on the recent (and cancelled) Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series.

I had no idea who Kang was until I watched Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He was really cool in that. Made for a great bad guy. I really liked it when the Council of Kangs showed up and basically said “Pull your finger out Kang and get back to work!”. Man that was a good show. I do hope the new Avenger series is a continuation of the EMH, as the rumours have said it might be. I don’t read comics, so I can’t really say who my fav is. My experience comes via movies, cartoons and a seemingly endless ability to absorb information from Wikipedia (I can tell you all about the Marvel cross-over events, despite never having read any of them). I know that the ones I really like are: Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) Captain/Ms. Marvel Emma Frost Mockingbird Magneto Wolverine Cyclops Deadpool Enchantress Wasp Vision Human Torch (it'd be awesome to have his powers) Hulk But... if I had to pick... Thor. I think Thor is really cool.

As much as I love Spider Man, Deadpool took over. I remember stumbling upon his limited series about 10 years ago, and man, it was some of the funniest stuff I've read. It also gets pretty gritty, especially when it comes to the Weapon X or his history with cancer.
One thing that I'll always remember was when Deadpool and a couple other merc were betting on how long it would take for one of Deadpool's fingers to grow back. So damned funny.

Outside of Batman, I'm not a huge superhero fan. And even in the case of Batman, I like him more when he's portrayed less as a superhero and more as a psychologically screwed up basket case.

Costume wise I've always thought the Captain Marvel/Shazam one was a classic.
The first story I ever read with him in was the one below on the left.
Used to do some mad team ups IIRC. I have some memories of a Green lantern/Batman team up where they take Batman to Oa as there's been a murder and the Guardians can't figure out who did it.. some of the lanterns have been hypnotised too or something ? Damn, now I'm going to have to track those issues down.
Villain wise... well.. of course..
has a good look and is just wicked, in both senses of the word.
course.. he's not quite unbeatable

I think a far more interesting discussion than "Who is your favourite comicbook superhero?" is, "What makes you a superhero?"
Break it down to "super" and "hero" and it seems quite obvious in some ways, but if Judge Dredd is not a "super" hero, then surely Batman is not a "super" hero either? Certainly it would be hard to say that Rorschach is a hero, let alone super.
Now, if we let 2000AD character into the mix, I would say my favourite superheroes are;
Nikolai Dante (when he had his Weapons Crest he was definitely a "super" hero. I'd say he was one even afterwards. One of this catchphrases is "Heroes be damned" but he was a definite hero)
Johnny Alpha (has cool powers, but would never describe himself as a hero. Everyone who knew him would though. He also has the best line in comics ever. "Because I Hate You" to Max Bubba)
Zenith (Although he preferred to use his powers to make himself into an international popstar rather than a superhero. He was waaay cool.)
Slaine was awesome. He was in a fantasy setting rather than a superhero one, however.
Generally though, my favourite comic characters are not in superhero storylines, and are certainly not superheroes themselves;
Sinister/Dexter are pretty cool. Hired killers loosely based on the character from Pulp Fiction.
Dirty Frank from Judge Dredd is a great recent invention.
Button Man, Harry Exton. An ex-marine who fights in modern-day contests of murder with other Button Men, all of whom are controlled by their "owners".
Danny Franks. An ordinary soldier in a company of freaks. (Bad Company)
Second favourite is Charley Bourne from Charley's War. A regular kid who signed up for the British Army in World War 1 and fights in the Somme, etc...
But my absolute favourite comic book character of all time is Halo Jones. A sadly uncompleted tale of a normal girl living in a consumerist future who just wants to get "out". I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who thinks that comic books are just about superheroes.
Personally, I find the creation of new worlds and universes at least as interesting as the characters who populate them, and the biggest problem with Marvel and DC is their obsession with every story being connected due to their obsession with crossovers. I am not even much of a fan of the Dredd/Strontium Dog crossovers, or the Dredd/Batman or Dredd/Aliens crossovers.
Honestly, read Charley's War or the Ballad of Halo Jones, and you might, just might, find that you have had your perceptions of what makes a good comic book changed forever.

I agree with Timetowaste85's sentiments on Deadpool. I think the best run the character ever saw was when Gail Simone was writing him. But now that Marvel has pushed the character into 5 titles per month, it's just terrible.

Gonna disagree with you here... I don't think Slaine should be discounted because of the setting. Hero + Power (I reckon I can safely describe warp-spasms as a power) pretty much equals 'Superhero'. Well, does to me anyway
