My biggest annoyance with the game is that outfits are so far and few between. There were supposed to be 80+ at launch, with multiples awarded throughout missions in each "sector".
Instead you get one for each final mission within the areas and a starting outfit.
You can buy some from the cash store(1 is 180 Bits, 1 is 240 Bits, the rest are anywhere from 500 to 880 Bits) or complete huge pursuits to get them. Normally I would not be irked by having to do huge missions to obtain things, but considering the pursuits in question...there's a problem.
A great example of this is the "Mountain Tracker" outfit which is awarded for the "Snipe From the Shadows" Combat Pursuit. It's scaled more or less in line with the other pursuits...until Rank II and III where the fact that you are required to use a bolt action sniper rifle to kill 500 Enemies (Rank II) and 5000(Rank III) enemies while also expected to reach Skill Level 10 with Semi-Auto Sniper Rifles that it becomes problematic.
Those numbers really need to be adjusted, simply because even fully perked out to be a sniper you're limited by the fact that enemies just do not behave properly when being engaged by bolt action sniper rifles. For Assault Rifles, LMGs, and Shotguns? Different story entirely as you're going to be up close and personal to begin with--but the bolt actions just ruin the whole challenge for me.
Add to it that upon completion of the main storyline, all you get is a crummy Epic quality pistol which is scaled for someone around EGO rank 390 or thereabouts, rather than the 490 necessary to actually complete the main storyline...I was none too pleased.
Especially given that the final "boss" fight is so obnoxiously tedious, the least they could have done was given me a half damned decent outfit alongside of that crummy pistol.

hmm .. yeah I did notice there don't seem to be many outfits. Kinda wondered why there weren't more. I figured a lot of them were going to get unlocked with different pursuits but most of the ones I looked at just give you like +5 shields. yay.
Don't know how far along I am, I'm just starting with stuff on the other side of the golden gate bridge. Would have been cool if the robots weren't just hellbugs that look different.

Outfits don't actually give any benefit beyond cosmetic.
That little "+5" that you see is from you obtaining EGO levels, as completing Pursuits give EGO boosts.

Beat the game last night .. last fight was tough.. well, easy enough if you pay attention but my old thumbs were killin me :( A bunch of side missions to do but really don't have much interest so this is prolly gonna get shelved till they start doing big DLCs, only really care about the main story with cut scenes and all.. watching the movies gives me a chance to rest my thumbs

Only reason the side missions interest me is for getting some new damned outfits--but the majority of the ones for "Marching Through Marin"(the Pursuit for one of the single coolest looking outfits, the Coda Scout) seem to not be working properly.
Hell one of the bridges even does not trigger properly.

Yeah I wasn't really following the side mission stories, I was just grabbing them for extra xp, but it started to feel more like grinding.
been trying to get into some of the coop dungeons, but I've only been able to do one of them, the others are just empty when I start and people are just standing around.

I watched the premiere of the show. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I thought it was going to be really bad. I hope they actually explain why all these aliens are here on the show and not just in the game because I don't think I'll be getting the game.

I got to say I've really liked the show, and the game is not bad either. my only problem is the salvage matrix is a bit hard to figure out how to use, but other than that once you figure it out it's easy. I'm really liking this so far.

No real interest in the game as MMO's don't interest me at all. Still, after watching the show with low expectations I was quite surprised. I really enjoyed it.
I'll be interested to see how they integrate the game and show later down the line, assuming Defiance gets a second season (it's premiere had great numbers, but we have to see if they hold - Syfy has a history of knee-jerk cancellations).

Maybe it's different for PCs, but on the PS3 it didn't really feel like a MMO to me.. it's a single player game with other people wandering around that you can't communicate with. They might help you out on a mission by killing some bad guys if they happen to have the same mission as you.
Then there's some special co- op dungeons and deathmatch maps you can play separately.
Played through the main story mission in a week or so, never really interacted with anyone. It was nice
As far as the show + game goes, I did notice there was some kind of new Pursuit based on the next episode, typical "go collect this junk and get a useless trinket for your trouble" kind of thing.

Can't wait to see this week's episode, the first four minutes looked pretty good, and I'm hoping the moral of the story for it is: don't screw around with other people's religious beliefs, even if a coward has to do some time on the rack as penitence. honestly these Casstians seem very Imperium of Man to me.

I saw the feature length opening the other day. And it really annoyed me the show seems like it's going to be alright. It really was seeming to find off a bit of a firefly vibe at points.
Well I will keep on assuming it will fail that way I can be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't....

why do you want anything to fail? if you think it's alright why not watch it and enjoy it? also i think it has a firefly vibe because I think it's from the makers of firefly IIRC, so that might explain it.

well all those shows were on the networks I believe, they tend to think about a show based on what they could make from a less expensive show. this is on sci-fi channel, so if the ratings are good compared to their other shows (and it looks like it is) it's going to stick around.

I don't even do them anymore, I did the first couple but it got old quick. I'd rather do normal missions or co op dungeons

I got my first orange weapon out of a tier 4 lockbox last night, it was a magnum pistol, kinda fun because it knocks people down when they get hit sometimes but overall I wasn't too impressed... I was expecting it to be super uber since it's super rare and all, but it's just kinda OK.
One thing about the weapons that bugs me is they don't seem to scale up much with levels... they get a teeny percentage better for recoil or 2 extra bullets in the clip, but a bolt action sniper rifle that's level 1 will do the same amount of damage as one that's level 600.

I just picked it up at a friend's behest last night. The first thing that bugged me was the lack of a first person camera. ...Over the shoulder just annoys me (though that's in part due to it obscuring your vision partly). The second would be the lack of cross platform servers, which seeing as my friend's running it on an XBox is an issue. Another thing would be that it feels a little floaty (though that may be done to my mouse settings), and the enemies come across as being just a little too bullet spongey ("K, you're a mutant, but I shouldn't have to unload a clip in your face before you die..."). So far its coming across as a tad mediocre. Admittedly I've only just gotten the quadbike, and I'm hardly used to mmo's, so I may not have an informed opinion.
...The third person thing really does annoy the hell of me though. =/

I haven't played in about a week now. It was fun, but just like every other game once I get done all the missions I don't see the point in playing anymore, let alone running the same dungeons over and over like MMOs want you to do.
I got up to around 1250 for my level. I'll probably check out the DLCs and stuff though when they come out.

I haven't played it in a while, either. The gameplay is just too shallow and repetitive. Maybe they'll fix it in future.

I'm finding that there's really not enough side quests available. There's plenty of minigames sure, but they don't have any substance.
...And god is the dialogue poor. I don't play MMOs, so maybe its of the standard, but its just so horribly cliche or unrealistic. Considering that there's not a whole load of cutscenes in the game I'dve thought the writers/voice actors would have put a bit more effort in. ...Or maybe they think they have. =P

I think the game is OK, it's just new and lacking a lot of content that a MMO really needs if it's gonna thrive. At this point, it's just a stand alone single player adventure game, where sometimes you see other people that you can't talk to.
I would have rather it was just a 1 player game, and they do DLCs with new stuff for new seasons of the show, maybe with some co-op and deathmatch maps thrown in.

Its a little too console orientated for my liking. As in it lacks some of the features that are a given with pc games. For instance I was wondering for a while where the hotkey for changing your load out was. It turns out there isn't one because that functionality is something only available to PCs. The lack of socializing features also irk me. It'd be nice to have emotes, but again, consoles would have issues using them, so they weren't implemented. Being able to sit down or congregate in a hub area would go aways to allowing for people to socialize more, and its really a pity that the game comes across as more of a single player affair than a communal one. =/
