... why would this need a whole website?
Twitch.tv runs channels that showcase Magic: the Gathering tournaments all the time, surely you could get some table top games filmed and then get someone to Cast them, similarly to how Starcraft and the various MOBAs are done.
Which wouldn't necessarily be easy or cheap, but I imagine it'd be easier and cheaper than doing it all from scratch.
And the guides and whatnot are perfect Youtube fodder. Again, not cheap, but why go to all the extra trouble?
I'll admit I'm out of my element on this one (and just perused the KS without watching the full video), but I got nuttin' here.

Absolutionis, if you were a kickstarter I'd back you Pretty much exactly sums up BoW for me too, I couldn't stand Derrel. Every unboxing was "oh man, this is so cool, I could totally use this because it's cool, It's just so awesome and cool, like, how could you not think this was just so cool" as he fumbles around trying to figure out what piece goes where. His "insight" into 40k was about as incompetent, everything was super cool and awesome and amazing, but he clearly didn't know the rules or tactics terribly well. He always seemed like a super nice bloke, I always got the impression he was there because he was an old friend of the people making the show and not because of any personal merit. That may be too harsh, but it was my impression. The last BoW video I ever bothered to watch was Darrel unboxing the Wargames Factory US Infantry where he started randomy gluing on weapons, saying how cool everything was while admitting he had absolutely no idea what the different stuff was but they'd make awesome Imperial Guardsmen (because everything must be 40k, amirite?). He hadn't even bothered to spend 5 minutes on wikipedia to learn any of the weapon names or checked into any actual games that you'd use 28mm WW2 infantry in, and yet there he was doing an unboxing. He kept me from enjoying FREE content, I can't imagine a world where I'd pay real money to hear him speak. I wish him the absolute best in his offline, off camera life.

Just gonna cut-and-paste some of my thoughts from the Northern Ireland Gamers Hub facebook page, where this was promoted (not by Darren) yesterday morning.
(for to those who may not know, BoW come from Northern Ireland - hence our local "interest")
"I can go onto any forum and listen to idiots about how they always win" - fantastic, immediately insult and alienate potential audience members, thats pure-gold GW marketing right there...
add to that the fact that literally every single "featured show" in this project can be found on youtube, for free, from established and respected channels, who dont ask for money, and have a far higher quality of production.
(before anyone points out that "this is not the quality of the final product" was mentioned, so what? If someone showed you a rusty Fiesta but said "dont worry, it will look like a Ferrari at the end" would YOU spend ferrari-levels of money on it? If you would, I have a couple of business propositions for you...)
Also, back to the forums, yes you get 12 year olds on there, yes you get bitter flamewars, yes you get the "my army is super l33t you n00b" guys, you shud play lyk I do and do these things!"
But you also get reasonable, insightful discussion. bouncing ideas around off other people, tourney winners and newbies, all can be included and learn and teach.
So, one guys web-show about tactics. Is it more like option A: the "You shud play lyk me den you kan be awesum 2!!!11", or option B: the discussion.
I know which one I would go for, every single fething time.
OH, and as an addendum to this long list, SORT THE FETHING GRAMMAR AND SPELLING OUT!
"We will prove our metal" - raise the devils horns!
"you find lying around you house" - you house?
Seriously, thats just from a skim over, does no-one proofread in your outfit? Not a good sign if you are asking people to put their faith in your ability/attention to detail etc.
Which bring me to the final point. If as you say, the team is assembled to do the website, space and studio are sorted, then why the HELL does this need 20-fething-grand.
Twenty-Thousand-Pounds. Thats a deposit on a house. Or a decent car.
Or is it for a really, really nice video camera..?

This is pretty similar to my own experiences. I've got nothing against him personally, having never met him - but I found his videos painful, and stopped watching BoW since it seemed he was always presenting whatever I was looking at. Haven't watched the pitch video (maybe when I get home) but the written stuff looks like he needs a proofreader and also an editor for content re: "metal" (sic), "idiots", and "look at me for I am so awesome at 40k" statements. Basically, even if I didn't already have an opinion of his videos from BoW, I'd find him a bit ...unlikable from the written pitch content.
Now, tell me more about these Lemonheads...

8 backers £77 now, one of which did pledge over £50 (his mum?) and 5 pledged £5. Don't think the £20k is quite going to make it. I wonder what other items that we can all get for free he will try to sell us next time ... air, seawater, leaves.

OT, I'm hoping he has some produced examples of what makes his project different/better than what's out there. It sounds interesting, and I hope he gets it off the ground. I also hope he's not starting production when the KS ends.

I feel sorry for him, but in all honesty, he was a weak link in the Beasts of War structure. He definitely needs to come up with some incentive for someone to want to apply to this Kickstarter. Then again, Beasts of War isn't as good as it used to be, anyways,

Sadly I don't think the KS is the way to go with this. He would be far better served going the blogging route, maybe selling advertising space, and building up a reputation that way. The problem is also, as others have pointed out, that there is so much content available for free on youtube (some of which is pretty good).
I'm not sold that battle-reports are necessarily impossible to pull off. Perhaps not ones of the style of BoLS (which always seem to sound like they are taking place in the London underground during rush-hour), but maybe something like the report in this thread (but in a video/comic book kind of form?)
http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4088-battle-report-clouds-over-al-hadiye/
I think there is some potential there, but it would need some effort beyond a guy holding a camera filming people rolling dice.

I have to agree unfortunately. Some of the PSC unboxing videos (which I think a lot of people were really looking forward to, as it was the first glimpse of FoW compatible plastic infantry) were a real wasted opportunity. Lots of 'some more guys with guns, this one has a missile launcher look' type comments.

While I don't know the whole story, I can give a bit of context. BOW moved a few months ago. In their move to Kent, Darrel seemed to stay behind. Yes, he made some visits, but hasn't been on many videos in the last few months. It would be like commuting between Boston and DC... doable, but annoying.
Will I be supporting this kickstarter? No.

I think there's a big equivocal mind set on BOW for many months now and it's the main reason I don't follow their shows anymore... The project should be about the industry and products and not about the presenters ego.
BOW In my opinion lost its way when some presenters indulged themselves in a bizarre inflated ego trip... Immature jokes, puerile screams etc clouded the once interesting reviews or unboxings... I looked at shows for a relaxing time while modelling... now I have to turn volume down or ultimately turn it off.
This small rant to say that this KS starts exactly with that philosophy mind... I will not give him money based only on his deluded perception of his own relevance to this industry... Give me 20G because I'm Darrell from BOW is not the way to start a serious project...
Although I wish him good luck because I have nothing against him personally.

My main problem with this:
He has his hat out for us to give him money to do what many of us secretly would like to be doing: I would rather use my own money for myself.
Inside the message he mentions "idiots" within what would be described as a potential audience. I already see a problem with the presentation of this proposed venture.
I appreciate the facts Darrell tries to lay out but this is to be entertainment as well. Without someone to rein him in, it would be one stone faced viewpoint.
Giving it a pass because frankly, Darrell is really not interesting enough to watch play with my money.
