Once again I have to say that all this one click business has me really worried for the fate of any future megaforces, Apoc bundles and even the battle force boxes.

Worst case scenario is that GW will no longer do special release boxed bundles, which have usually been sold at a great discount to buying contents individually.

I'm actually if something like this would be classed as 'shifty' in UK consumer regulations.

There is lots of regs governing supermarket offers, so its not a direct analogy.

No.
Worst case scenario is when a battleforce costs more than the models individually because they "save you on trash!"

And honestly, it wouldn't surprise me.

I assume you mean the percentage of GW loyal retail customers, rather than the wider customers of GW product? Else we wouldn't see such rage on the internets. - I mean, I still buy some of their new stuff, despite having issues with the way the company is run.

I'm not exactly "prince insensitive". I just buy it because I really don't have a choice (other than "don't play" or "convert everything from scratch").

I will be buying through internet discount people though. I tried ordering a mass of Tau through my LGS. Never again. Ordered over 3 weeks ago and it's still not here, also they're charging me 100% GW price (I don't know if that's something I'm allowed to complain about or not, but I was hoping for at least a 5-10% discount, I'm throwing $300 at them.).

With the LGS things, it would probably have been worth asking/negotiating/working it out upfront, otherwise you end up with expectations on both sides.

I just asked the guy straight up when placing my order "is this going to be GW price or could you give me a discount, because I know I can get this stuff cheaper if I want to but I want to buy local."

The guy says "nope, full price. We aren't allowed to give discounts."

A man can dream...

No, one can learn how to negotiate.

Dunno.

Lazy people, probably. Why carefully select the units you need, when you could get a bunch of them at once.

I don't really understand the ire in this thread. It doesn't say anywhere that there's a discount.

It's so you see it and go 'ERMMAGERD! ONLY FOR 1 DAY! I MUST BUY THIS - WHATEVER IT IS!'

It makes it seem likes its exclusive or a saving and only available today means you might leap before you look.

I'm surprised they haven't tried

New Wraithknight deal! £70 for 1!
Buy one, get one for the same price!, thats right, Buy one for £70 and you can buy two for the low, low price of £140!

The only time I can see GW offering any 'discount' is when they start charging for individual carrier bags (Citadel Finebags)- Buy two Wraithknights! Discounts available from putting them in the same Bag!
Save Pence!!!!

This is GREAT NEWS!

I still like GW (and I'm obsessed with 40k), but their advertising leaves something to be desired.

Well they never claim it's a great deal, but they obviously want people to assume that you get some sort of deal in the 'bundle'.

The dudes probably greedy, lieing to you or both. My local store gives a 10% discount on stuff that wasn't on the shelf. I know the guy and he says he still makes a profit even on the 10% discount. Shoot, a couple of times a year he has a store wide sale from comics to 40k to MTG. Massive discounts. And he still makes profits. Of course at these 30%-40% discounts the profits are very slim but its to turn his stock around.

I need to return some video tapes.

This really skirts the line of good business ethics.

Legal? Yeah. A possible attempt to take advantage of its customers through predatory advertising? Absolutely.

I'd be curious to see how many people actually bought the Tau and Tyranids whitedwarf army bundles that came out when the Tau were released.

They were around $1000 Canadian and offered maybe $50 savings I think?

I'm not sure why there is a discussion on this topic though.... as others have said it was obviously attempting to milk the impulse buyer market.

It is also quite amusing when people complain about price..... this isn't an expensive hobby when you consider how many hours of building, painting, and playing your $$ gets you. There are many hobbies that cost several thousand per year.... much more expensive then buying from GW directly with no discounts.

Don't know much about Dreadball, but can you play with 8 mini's in that game? Because 10 wyches is barely a list for DE, throw in 2 more venoms and an HQ, and you'd still struggle to play a 500pts game... I believe that's what the "budget alternative" means.

Doesn't change the fact that the DreadBall miniatures are more expensive.

What if I buy a box of Wyches to convert a DreadBall team? Should I give the guy in the GW-store twice of what he asks, because I need less? What if I tell him in only ever play Apocalpyse games of 5.000 points minimum? Would I get all GW-minis at 50% off, because I need so many more of them? And what about people buying minis mainly for painting?

And what if I invent a game that only needs one miniature per player? Could I sell a single 28mm piece of restic for GBP 100,- each, It'll be all you need... I promise!

Actually, this is a phenomenal idea for the Asterian team, seeing how I'm not quite enjoying the minis that have been shown. You may have just worked some magic, Zweis.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
