Subject: World War Z - Avoid it in 3D! (no spoilers)
The turn over time is at least somewhat justified in that Brad finds out in Korea that the infection seems to have accelerated from its initial starting point as the soldiers in Korea tell him it takes ten to twelve minutes to change, not ten seconds.
But yeah. There were a lot of moments in the movie that had me raising my eyebrows in "lolwut" disbelief. The zombie tower, the zombie on the plane, the blatant Pepsi product shot. The whole "zombies don't attack the weak" thing was just absurd to me. Like, really absurd. What. The zombie sickness can smell that a man has a busted leg? Please. If stopping the apocalypse is that easy lets just break everyone's knee caps and be done with it.
Personally rate it 5/10. I enjoyed the film decently enough but I'm gonna forget it exists in a month.

Good to know this stuff from you guys..will save me my money going to see it..although once I saw the tsunami-zombies in the previews..I had my doubts..and they have been confirmed. thanks all
Somewhat agreement with Crablezworth. You could feel the presence of multiple scriptwriters in the storyline.

Here was my plot prediction a while back in the Walking Dead thread. Those of you who've seen it...how'd I do?
I'd lay money that Brad Pitt will discover some kind of "instant win" solution that will either be kinda obvious or not really make sense. Maybe he's an entomologist or exterminator or once wrote an article for Insect Fancy and recognizes that the zombies are behaving like army ants, and he knows a way to beat army ants. He'll try to get in to see the team of scientists, military and governmental types in charge, but he'll be rebuffed at first. Eventually, after some close calls and zombie action, someone will help get him in, or he'll sneak in and make his case. The hard-a$$ military commander will be skeptical -- his plan is to nuke the eastern seaboard -- and will want to haul Pitt out of there, but there'll be a scientist or government type -- probably an attractive woman -- who'll believe in him.
The nukes will be called off at the last minute and the instant win will work.
The movie closes on an up note with a voiceover from Pitt explaining how the battle for NYC cost a lot of lives, and that WWZ wasn't over yet, but that there's finally some real hope for humanity. What's more, it taught everyone some valuable lessons about something vaguely ecological...and brought his family closer together. Lots of hugs. The end.
Another option is to end it as in the previous post, but have a final shot -- just after the initial closing credits -- of a lone zombie apparently unaffected by instant win shuffling off somewhere.

Pretty far off, lol. Nice try though.
Spoiler:
There wasn't any instant-win and there are still a lot of zombies around by movie's end, and he was rescued from NJ with his family because they wanted his help as a UN investigator back on board. The only nukes in the movie are when they are flying from Camp Humphrey, and it's a reference to Iran and Pakistan in the books nuking each other to kingdom come. There's no attractive woman believing in him besides his own wife, who ironically almost gets him killed at Camp Humphrey.

The original ending: The plan was for the movie to climax in a gigantic battle in Moscow – one trailer even has Pitt asking "If I could get into Russia, where would I start?" Gerry eventually becomes a hard-nosed zombie killer who discovers that the cold slows the zombie hordes down. When he gets the chance to call his wife, he discovers that she's in a semi-consensual relationship with the parajumper who saved her at the beginning of the movie – thereby explaining Matthew Fox's bafflingly small role in the movie. Lane then begins an epic trek back to the US to win her back. Blimey.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Yeah, you could've clipped that entire scene out and it alone would have been a perfect TV ad.

I believe it was after Surfer Dude shot himself up with some sweet drugs, walked pass spazzing out blind zombie dude and then drank a Pepsi from a soda machine, thus granting him plot armor from the horde of zombies who also wanted Plot Armor Pepsi themselves.

He used the pepsi machine to lure the zombies away from the doors by breaking it so the cans would rattle around the floor (but not before chugging one back).

I like my interpretation of events better.
It would make for a much better third of the movie after jumping the zombie shark plane crash.

Spoiler:
- Why did the zombies move like a Tidal wave? cant they move normally? They do - there's far more shots of them running as a group or running individually than there is of the 'tidal wave of zombies' movement. Do you have selective memory?
- Why was Matthew fox in this movie? Was Matthew fox suppose to have a role? Read what was mentioned earlier in the thread. The original ending had Gerry going to Russia and a massively expanded role for Fox (he basically forces Gerrys wife into a sexual relationship to have a place in that off-boat colony), and this ending was changed.
- When do they go to russia like it said in the movie trailers? As above.
- Why does anyone listen to a UN inspector when the world is going to hell? Does anyone listen to UN inspectors normally? It's a movie. Logic need not apply all the time.
- When flying to israel they see a Mushroom cloud. why does his phone go out but the radio and all the lights on the plane still work? are they magic? It's a movie. Logic need not apply all the time.

- How does the zombie get into the plane? does it go through a locked and secured wheel well? is the zombie magic? how did the zombie not Freeze to death in part of the plane that has no Cabin pressure? While in South Korea, they talk about some people taking significantly longer to change. This person took longer to change.
- Why isnt the virus transmitted through blood or a scratch and only through Bites. is it Zombie Dental Plaque, does this mean we can eat the zombies? We don't know it's not. Gerry got some in his mouth, but maybe somehow managed to spit it out in time. It's just something they didn't elaborate on.
- Why don't the zombies infect everyone? they skip over sick people because they can tell? does this mean a guy in a wheel chair wouldn't be bit? Pay attention to the movie and it answers this for you. It's a bs theory, but the film spends it's entire act 3 on this subject.
- why do the zombies move at 30-50 mphs when in groups but then go to 15 mph when chasing the main characters? Stormtrooper syndrome.
- why did they need to sneak past the zombies at the W.H.O. research enter? Didn't every office have phones? couldn't they call an office on the other side of the building to draw the zombies away? Pay attention to the movie and it answers this for you. It's a bs theory, but the film spends it's entire act 3 on this subject. More specifically - the building has two wings. That wing is all zombies. A zombie isn't going to pick up the phone.
- If the zombies are docile when there are no people to infect, but become agressive when they are attacked. whats the point of the Injection to cloak our troops? once someone fires a weapon or beats a zombie head in they all go crazy attack mode. isn't that a plot hole? Yes it is. The ending was bs in order to have an ending but leave it open for sequels. However, in theory, it means they can set up a nice crossfire around a group of zombies before opening up and alerting them. Surprise is a tactic that yields more casualties.
- Why did I pay money to see this film? Because I was curious. I will pay money again for the bluray because that curiosity turned to enjoyment while watching it. People have different opinions, yours is just wrong in this case.

Jerusalem scene when the zombies come in a tidal wave down the stairs, They go out to the left for a good minute before going towards Gerry + IDF, every other scene they cut corners instantly

That person was still in an Unpressurized part of that plane.. he would of Froze if they were up there for that long
- Why isnt the virus transmitted through blood or a scratch and only through Bites. is it Zombie Dental Plaque, does this mean we can eat the zombies?
We don't know it's not. Gerry got some in his mouth, but maybe somehow managed to spit it out in time. It's just something they didn't elaborate on.

Pay attention to the movie and it answers this for you. It's a bs theory, but the film spends it's entire act 3 on this subject.
So the zombies see like this? A better plot device would be that some small obscure number of people are naturally immune and gerry is looking for them.

Zombies are attracked to noise. calling an office on the otherside of said Wing would draw them to that area.. away from the path they needed to take.
- If the zombies are docile when there are no people to infect, but become agressive when they are attacked. whats the point of the Injection to cloak our troops? once someone fires a weapon or beats a zombie head in they all go crazy attack mode. isn't that a plot hole?

Which works on human and animal targets that fear you, doesnt really have an effect on a target that knows no fear and outnumbers you say a 10,000:1, can run a 30 MPH and can climb like an monkey
- Why did I pay money to see this film?
Because I was curious. I will pay money again for the bluray because that curiosity turned to enjoyment while watching it. People have different opinions, yours is just wrong in this case.
It wasn't a zombie movie, it was Transformers, so except to see more of these Gakky CGI dumps
Who knows? maybe the Bluray version will actually have a better plot than the theatrical version. one can only hope.

I seen it in 3D this weekend as part of my 30th birthday celebrations (along with a trip to the shooting range). As far as the 3D went I'd never seen a movie in 3D before but it was pretty good in that respect.
I haven't read the book, but I will be trying to pick up a copy today, but the film needed a better leading male actor and the end just felt rushed.
Spoiler:
When it came to the WHO in Wales my suspension of disbelief was broke because of the details they got wrong (from the aerial shot alone I knew it was shot in Scotland, amongst other things)

seemd so unbelievable, maybe they should have had a lesser known star, I dunno
the movie wasnt horrible, but it wasnt very good, I found it predictable, and with far too little zombie killing, far too much cheaply make plot devices, and Id expect much more of max brooks.

I was fine as long as I managed to forget it was based on the book.
Spoiler:
What killed me is that based on the type of biological that we witnessed 10 minutes wouldn't be enough for a world wide spread. Basically large oceans would have stopped it dead. It felt like a 28 Days Later with a "Star" but much less well done.
Let's not even get into the super ant zombies. Or how that kid made it to the roof when Zombies attacked his parents apartment. Or Israel building a huge wall weeks before this thing mass spread. What's the point in the dogs if it spread in 12-seconds to 10 minutes? If it transmits in 12 seconds how did cutting off a bitten hand 2-3 seconds after the bite stop it from spreading?
So many glaring plot holes. Would have much preferred it sticking to the book even though that had it's issues too. Basically a fine romp film but god help me it was horrible movie if you expect it to be like the book it's based on.
I did like the idea that the NK's survived by pulling out all their teeth

I've never watched a 3D movie until World War Z and I have to say that I had no trouble with the format. The action scenes could be a little blurry at times, but not to any sort of degree that hindered enjoying them, or following what was happening.
Just my 2 cents.
