I'm very interested to see how this all plays out. It's CMON's first time at a mass battle TTG rather than a board game/ boxed game set.

Who knows how many sculpts/ designs/ sketches they've got tucked away that we haven't seen yet. They gotta flesh out those factions after all.

I wonder if they'll have a lower buy in for specific factions. I want to see how everything is going to be packaged too- are we even going to see a typical board game box, blisters, unit boxes of stuff on sprues...

All of this should at least give us an idea how they'll run their eventual Confrontation KS...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

These three sets of comments sum it up nicely fo rme, and are pretty much why I can't see this one doing "Record Breakingly Well" - which is, of course, not to say that it won't do jus tplain old well!

Loved the pig men since they first popped up. The masked ninja/samurai guys are decent.
I would agree that all the army concepts are just too esoteric.
The paint jobs are almost all quality speed paints, which I don't think is helping to sell them as top of the line sculpts (if that's the intent).

Very nice Asian dragon. Nice sculpt, paint, nice cast. Probably in resin, I assume, so not really KS-style/quality product from CMON, based on past offerings.

None of which are marketed as miniatures games first.

Sedition Wars is the only one that CMoN has released that bears any comparison. Relic Knights will too whenever that ships. But certainly not Zombicide or Rivet Wars.

Besides, the Sedition Wars minis all look fantastic. Is there some clean up? Sure. Do they have great detail? Yup.

So I'm not entirely sure your basis for comparison is entirely accurate

That's the only thing I see that I like. However, I am fairly sure the asking price will kill my enthusiasm for it.

Cincy is a rather large WoK fan, so I'm not sure how objective he'll be able to be here.

Still, for everyone waiting/wanting this - best of luck!

Honestly I like a lot of these minis I'm just not a huge cmon fan as I am tired of the just kickstater business plan. Plus I still don't have my relic knights so that is what's going to hold me back with them.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

It is nice to see something different for a change, rather than more knights and dragons. I like the gnome / octopus. The Don Quixote on rabid rabbit looks neat too.

A mass battle game with these figures would be wild if they have lots of strange sculpts. I think terrain for this would also be very cool. Warped windmills come to mind.

I am actually looking forward to this :-) I like the miniatures allot (some have Confrontation-vibe too it)

Let's hope the game itself is also worth playing ^^

In my experience it's not :-\

At GenCon last year, I was completely drawn in by the Pig People, asked for a demo, and received a very poor explanation of the rules and the game. The guy I played didn't give me a good rundown on the rules, nor did he do a very good job of teaching me the rules. He was stumbling trying to explain things to me, and was referencing a pamphlet of quickstart rules... quickstart rules that he couldn't give to me because they didn't have any more than for the demo team. I left there feeling like the game wasn't worth it because the models drew me in, but the rules left me feeling cold...

Get a demo of it if you can before you dive in...

Edit: It was a year ago, and the guy did say that the rules were still being developed, but everything seemed to be solid. I.e. they had stat cards, counters, models, dice, etc... Nothing seemed, "in development".

Couple of notes. The Dragon that you saw is a plastic proof, so that is the finished material.

The rules and some cards are up on the facebook page if you want to check them out.

I am really proud of what we have here I think you guys will like it

Ill try to keep an eye on this thread if you guys have questions I might be able to answer.

Well then, to reiterate - very nice dragon. What kind of material will the final ones be made of? Or to be more specific - what kind of plastic?

Yes, yes I am I do, honestly, try my best to not go full-fanboy on it though.

Alf -- The rules have come a fairly long way since then. They've tighted up the order system, in particular, which makes it much easier to command massive armies. One of the very nice things, IMO, about the rules of the game is that theyr'e intended to scale from a skirmish sized game to a mass battles sized game, with the order system being at the crux of this. The game was still really, really new last year, so the demo guy may have simply not known the game fully (not that disimilarly to the folks that demoed Puppet Wars for me back in the day at GenCon )

But yeah, I've been waiting for this one for a while. So much so that I'm about ready to drop out of the Raging Heroes KS because I know I'm going to drop a pretty penny on this guy.

Additionally, I'm all for the KS method of introducing new product for any company. I'd even be fine if GW did it. It's a great tool for mitigating risk, and honestly, the relative 'failure' of Dreadfleet makes me nervous GW will never try anything 'new' again. So yeah, KS whatever you want.

I agree I dont see this taking off that well. There no chance in hell its going to beat Zombicide. Its just to... French to get that mass appeal..

I dig the pig men, gutter friar and blood mask howl. Everything else, not so much. In particular the blades of the gimp bunny helmets just dont come off well and look too thick and clunky.

The dragon above is pretty awesome, but the rider takes it down a large step. I like both of them individually, I just dont think they mesh well. I think mixing fantasy with a very specific real world mythology/history doesnt always work. You see the Chinese dragon, you expect a Chinese rider. Its like seeing some guy in fantasy full plate wielding a macuahuitl and wicker shield. Put that rider on some purple ostriche from Joust and I'd be all over it.

I don't think it will do Zombicide levels of business, but a lot will depend on how many models are available, how much variety there is, and how many figures you ultimately get for your pledge.

Being CMON, I would imagine there will be a few exclusives- maybe a couple for each faction? Plus being a CMON kickstarter, I'm sure there will be a fair amount of plastic both in the core pledge and as add-ons. People like quantity.

Rivet Wars managed a few thousand pledgers if I remember correctly, and that wasn't exactly done in a standard style either. 500k isn't exactly a shabby amount in and of itself. Then again it was also a complete board game package as opposed to a full on tabletop game (although hopefully those rules are still coming for Rivet Wars).

At the very least Wrath of Kings should be in a similar sized scale to the other fantasy stuff out there.

I would assume that the dragon and its rider are cast as separate pieces, correct? I would love to have a few of those dragons tooling around by themselves.

Kelmor- will this be predominately troop focused, or can we expect to see a bit of other units as well- monsters, siege weapons, pieces of scenery, objective markers, things along those lines?

Will grunt troops be fixed pose or will they be multi- piece?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I am not sure the specific plastic other than that it looks great. I do know we are doing the weapons and similar part in a different more rigid plastic so you do not get bendy swords.

Once the KS goes up we should have some pictures of the plastics

hmm I should learn to multi quote

This initial release will be a lot of foundation elements. primarily troops. We do want to more "warmachines" and the like. As was mentioned the game is built to scale, so we can scale it up if the demand is there for sure (without wrecking the existing play experience)

All the troops come in multi parts, and there are 3 poses.

Thanks Kelmor.

So multi- part plastic figures in different poses. Good to know.

If you guys are allowed to discuss it, have you determined how the game is going to be packaged? Boxed troop formations? Individual figure blisters? Bundles for related factions?

Will we be seeing a big boxed "starter set," like a traditional board game box? Or will it be more of a pick and choose from different units and factions?

Well, is it like the hard plastic GW/Renedra/Wargames Factory/etc use for their kits? Can you use plastic cement on it?

Is it like the spincast resin-plastic that Sediton Wars, Mantic Games, Privateer Press use for their models? Can't use plastic cement, needs superglue.

Is it like the softer-harder boardgame plastic found in games like Zombiecide, Descent, FFG products, D&D Miniatures?

You will need to find out which material it is for the KS, since it's a question that will matter for a lot of people.

thanks!
