I actually think they are pretty great for some armies. How huge is 2 skyfire/interceptor lascannons no matter the limitation for a nids or orks list? There are alot of lists that suddenly become viable for those two dexs once you add an AV14 bunker and 2 skyfire weapons.

Overall I think they are a great answer for 4/5ed dexs vs. flyers. I would have liked to be able to man them but then they would have been worse for nids vs other armies, would have been crazy to let a vindicare man a punisher cannon.

Honestly I think they're both balanced well against ADL & quad gun.
You have a very strong AA choice with bunker or
a strong AA choice with cover booster or
a durable gun platform that helps with armor saturation.

My Iron Warriors will have some good fluffy choices to make.

I'm starting to think about buying them. I think they could be a great weapon for a deny flank approach, and would always be annoying the opponent. it might even have them mess up toughchoices!

Tempted to surround the vengeance platforms with Plague Bearers or something similar to remove any AV12 vehicle in front of the Punisher or 2+ save unit for the battle cannon.

Just wondering the issue. If you cant target unoccupied buildings then can these fortifications even be destroyed?

Yes, their rules specifically say you can.
You even cant aim at the quad Icarus, just the bunker itself.

GW didn't mess THAT one up (imagine the OPness if you couldn't touch them)

Though the vengence gattaling got some charm into them, if the enemy don't have much melee threat, you can drop them in the enemy area and watch the madness.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Do buildings count as units? Just curious since it could mean that you could take your opponents Vengeance batteries out of contention if he deploys first....

Thinking about adding the Vengeance Batteries to my Daemons and Ork lists. Question is, do I go Battle Cannon or Punisher Cannons. The Ork player in me says more dakka!

Is there somewhere I can get some clear info about them (or someone willing to post here)?
Because I did not understand very well their price and/or their equipment.

At least I'd love to understand what they are and what they do before considering if they are worth buying

I'm in the same boat, but as Chaos.

I'm leaning towards one of each, just split the difference. If I had to choose, I'd feel safer with the battle cannon.

I think the battle cannon is just so much better then the punisher cannon. BS2 doesnt really effect it. Its like a LRBT with a LR chasis and unlimited hull points with -1 BS. For 2/3 the cost.

Having had a quick flick through the rules tonight there is no specifc allowence for these to be used in 40k though, mainly thinking tourny here rather then friendly games. At least the Apoc one mentions 40k these do not.

It's on GW's website

Rules for using this scenery piece in games of Warhammer 40,000 are included in the box. If you wish to use this in games of Apocalypse you will find the rules in the Apocalypse rulebook.

The rules for 40k are the ones in the box. Otherwise we could do a class action lawsuit against GW for false advertising

Battle cannons cant hit flyers. So when you have to shoot the closest enemy flyer what happens? Will the shots be lost if there is a flyer on the board?

Closest target/model would mean a battle cannon would ignore a flyer, as it cannot hit one. And how long is a flyer going to be able to be a closest target anyway?

Quad Lascannons all the way.
With other weapon systems, a drop pod will pull the fire off of targets further away.
Flyers on the other hand are pretty much ALL priority targets, so even if I have to kill the closest, I'm still killing a flyer.

You deploy your vengeance batteries, but then he deploys his mere inches away.

I love the look of these fortifications. I have a question: Would it be possible/viable to place the redoubt behind my aegis line (both forts. touching and then place the ADL quad cannon ONTO the redoubt (in the middle position i guess)?

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

stop using viable as a replacement for usable. not the same thing.

No, you wouldn't be able to add a quad gun purchased for the ADL onto another model. Otherwise, I could take the Icarus and put it on my Crusader. they would also still have to be separatwd by 1" as they are two distinct formations, as normal.

and I assume you are using a double FOC to bring in two fortifications, right?
