The downside here is that the old carnosaur model is already fething fantastic.

So, a carnosaur-like unit, or re-done cold ones, etc... would've been more useful.

Not to mention the third kit listed, which sounds like the obligatory huge rare-slot contraption that each army has gotten...

So, sounds interesting, but still sticking to a very, very unfortunate formula.

But it's hard to mess up dinos so it'll still be cool.

Hi! You must be new here. Welcome to dakkadakka and GW! After you get your feet wet, you'll become more familiar with silly naming conventions and the humor of Warhammer and Warhammer 40k.

Been gaming since the mid-90s. Very familiar with silly naming conventions. Ripperdactyls just sounds lazy.

Much better than the Troglodon also listed if you ask.

Well, for years there has been the Stegadon that looks nothing like a Stegosaurus and a lot like a Triceratops.

Whoa whoa whoa.

The dinosaurs in WHFB do not actually look like real dinosaurs?

Well darn. I always thought that WHFB was based on a true story...

With the sarcasm out of the way:
These rumors sound pretty good. Lizardmen are an army which can totally benefit from the "Add giant monsters" approach that GW has had lately.

Its a wonder any one new posts in these boards some times, when the immediate attitude is that your some sort of spell weaving, liar, GW sympathizer/goon, who could not possibly know anything because you post count somehow indicates how intelligent or truthful you are capably of being. I wonder , if what he post turns out to be what it the shelves, does he then have the right to come back and issue you the verbal tongue lashing you so obviously asked for? Wow, people relax.

As for the topic, I sure hope that's what we are seeing because More giant dinos rampaging across the table is exactly what I think of when I see the lizardmen army! Pretty interested in the ripperdactyls too!

GW is famous for silly, lazy naming. It is just the way it is. Next we'll start shaking our fist at the sun for rising today.

I think it would be really awesome if GW would purposely not show any new pics of the new models until the very day they are released, since no one is excited to start planning to update their armies or even care about what's coming out until it's actually on the store shelves.

Yeah, we get it. Again, welcome to GW. They have a crazy information policy. It isn't really news though since it has been this way for quite some time. I guess we're hitting all the scheduled markers though. I think the next post will probably be complaining about how that wasn't really a trailer/teaser/etc.

I doubt you'll get an apology. GW store reps are known for being unreliable. Add to that the poor formatting and such and you just had a recipe for not being received well. Luckily, Pizzaguardian posted largely the same thing somewhere else and your thread was saved.

TLDR: Don't be indignant, just learn for future posts.

Ripperdactyls huh? GW design team now lead by Charlie, an 8 year old who won the dinosaur drawing competition at his elementary school.

Splash release in 6 months for lizardmen: Toothasaurus and a Fangadon.

Also, someone with the skill please photoshop gargoyle wings onto a Tyranid Ripper.

I'm betting on an upgrade kit to turn a Stegadon into a Shreddadon and another one to turn the Carnosaur into a Tearosaur.

Im oddly exited about this release, for being a non-fantasy player.
I think the high elves got a pretty solid release, but the warriors of chaos got some close misses and an aweful slaughterbrute.

Really hope they dont mess up the dinos.

Perhaps Im stuck in decade old meta, but arent these exotic beasties supposed
to have the name scholars and explorers of the old world give them, rather than "native" names.
So, aToothasaurus would be quite clever and informative.

Wow, that may be the laziest trailer yet.

I mean, good on GW for at least making it clear which army it's for (if for no other reason than that there are no other jungle/claw themed armies), but not a single GW model or even drawing of a model is displayed. This teaser could just as well be for Dead Island III without changing a single thing.

Wrong. It's Squat Amazons. They'll let Matt Ward get away with anything these days.

Remember that time everyone asked for an Ogres army? Me neither.

At any rate, the models hopefully will at least be cool to paint, so there's that.

Without having my Croq-Gar where I am, is there a big size difference between the old carnosaur and this rumored new kit? It sounds at least pretty similar.

Plasma Gun? Parental Guidance?

Anyway, it is an open secret by now, that at GW, the concept and naming phase for new units is limited to 10 seconds max.

Didn't the first Lizardmen army book mention Thunder lizards being even bigger than ancient stegadons? I'm surprised GW hasn't made them yet. I really hope FW make one gargantuan squiggoth sized one day!

It is also Finecast and intended for 'one specific character'.

By converting it to plastic with a slew of options, they can get more Carnosaurs on the field and allow for some variation in the Carnosaurs.
They also apparently have another monster that a Skink can ride built from the same general body...which will be kinda interesting/cool.

So, a carnosaur-like unit, or re-done cold ones, etc... would've been more useful.

Yeah, and so would redone Silver Helms or Spearmen/Archers for High Elves.
The goal is not to 'redo' anything which has a kit right now it seems.
The goal is to phase out as many Finecast/metal kits for plastic kits.

Not to mention the third kit listed, which sounds like the obligatory huge rare-slot contraption that each army has gotten...

Personally, I like the huge rare-slot contraptions for the most part.
The Empire ones were far too busy for me though, and partly why I am quietly looking to sell off all my Empire stuff.

Yeah thats the way to look at it, GW's poor decisions will all seem to fade into the mist once we see the pictures of these dinosaurs.
