I'm working on a farsight enclave that is to be heavily weathered. However, I recently put together farsight and fell in love with the crisis suits and its dimensions (a model that actually looks like the art).

I ordered a second farsight mini and I'll be cutting it apart and seeing how easily it can be reposed as a standard XV8. If my test is successful I'll order 12 more farsights and build a force representing the early days of farsight's enclave. The older model crisis suits will act very much like marines and their MKIII-VI armour - still in use, albeit much rarer, passed down through the ranks of successful warriors.

The CSM force I'm putting together are the shattered remnants of various chapters lost in the warp, abyssal crusade etc. Each squad is a different chapter. All have long since gone renegade and perhaps fallen to Chaos

A Dark Eldar coven that has aligned itself with Slaneesh instead of against her like most Dark Eldar. Largely because I want to use Wyches as Daemonettes as the Daemonette models are pretty bleh

Now that I think of it, my Orks are gradually falling to Chaos too. A bit of a theme going on here!

Frenzied Berserker Terminator

Hatfield, PA

A rogue radical inqusitor who had his own private army, but had started working on converting/corrupting a local space marine chapter to do his bidding. The force was made up of the inqusitor and his retinue, multiple squads of inqusitorial sotrmtroopers, multiple daemon hosts and a number of space marine scout squads. Went with scouts to simulate the fact that it would be easier to to corrupt the neophytes in the chapter than battle hardened full marines. He took the long view. Once the neophytes were elevated they could start to spread the corruption and then full marines would be included in the force.

It wasn't the most potent force out there, nor good for any kind of tournement usage, but it was an interesting force to play and the experience was enhanced that my rolling for the Daemonhost powers each turn was uncannily perfect every time. All our rolls are out in the open, but it seemed when a host was about to die it woudl ALWAYS roll to have its wounds all regenerated and things like that. Got to the point where my friends hated playing the army just because the daemonhosts were so hard to kill thanks to the always perfect rolling. Of course can't make this army the same way any more. Only realy worked with the Daemonhunters codex...can't ally enough forces together anymore to have stormtroopers, inqusitors, daemonhosts and space marine scouts in the same army. :(

Blood Axe orks with mid to late 20th Century military equipment. All I've done so far is give them helmets, kneepads and sleeves but when I start on my kommandos, I want to give them Splinter-Cell style goggles.

Lord of the Fleet

London

During my free time I've often made up back-stories about my Chaos army, so here's a few excerpts from the stuff I've come up with so far.

My Night Lords are based off a splinter group of the Legion when it split during the Heresy*. Instead of fighting for Chaos they simply maintain a small empire of planets close to the Malestrom and act as pirateers. Renamed the Void Runners, they simply fight for survival, willing to take on any foe for the right price. This activity however hasn't gone unnoticed by other such rogues such as Huron Blackheart, who has placed a bounty on the head of the current Void Runners, Lord Elikas, after a supposed "peace offering" from the Runners resulted in the destruction of 2 frigates from the Blackheart's fleet.

*Read "Shadows of Treachery" for more info.

A retaliatory attack by the Red Corsairs ended in serious damage to one of the Void Runner's battleships, the Venator, resulting in approximately 150 Legionaries and twice as many crew being exposed to the craft's Warp Drives. While the deck in question was sealed off (as it remains to this day) it is apparent that the exposed individuals suffered extreme mutation and degradation of mental capabilities. Those who retain some form of mental cognition are unleashed onto the battlefield in a flurry of daemonic horror before being reincarcerated back within the damaged deck, the Warp exposure too great for the Venator's crews to attempt repair.

(This is my reasoning for having a couple of Possessed models in the army).

While the Void Runners retain armour and equipment that dates back to the Horus Heresy, they have minimal interest in fighting for Chaos and the possible rewards from such worship, as shown by an attack on the Inquisitorial transport ship Fuego del Terra, on the request of an unknown client. Using arcane stasis weaponry, the Void Runners are able to immobilise the ship and plunder its cargo. When the crew are released from their temporal slumber, they find that not a single person has been harmed or the ship damaged, and it is only when the ship has berthed that they discover the missing cargo, resulting in the execution of the newly-appointed Inquisitor Argeaus. The nature and function of the device, as well as the individual currently in possession, are currently unknown.

(If this has peaked some people's interests I might write some more, so honest criticism please )

Have you read Grunts by Mary Gentle? I can recommend it, and it is relevant to your army

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

My necrons live on a tomb world that became a lush, verdant planet after the necrons went to sleep. An comet impact ended it all, killing off 95% of life on the surface. As time passed and the planet returned to a less chaotic state, the rich flora and fauna became coal and oil under the surface.

As the necrons awoke, they quickly realized what had happened and capitalized. Using their advanced technology, they've perfected the industry of petroleum mining/drilling. Having little use for it themselves, they trade for lost archeotech and resources with local systems (which include non-imperial humans, dark eldar, and tau), the Czarnydym Dynasty has learned that oil and coal are far more value than blood and gore.

They are unusually open to outsiders, provided that trade is the topic of discussion. Naturally, this has piqued the interest of a certain Necron whose interest in the peculiar is only matched by his charm and wit. They welcome their guest and are not openly hostile to others, but will go to great lengths to defend their industrial interests.

To represent it, I've painted my units as normal (a grey with gunmetal drybrushed), but given them several coats of badab black wash and a liberal dusting of black weathering pigment and powdered graphite. Even Trazyn looks like he's spent a little too much time down below. Unit wise, it's a silver tide with AV13 to represent the re-allocation of resources towards both menial labor (warriors) and hauling equipment (Ghost Arks). I plan to also add a large scarab farm and probably some wraiths as well. There's only one flyer (even at 2000 points) to show how it's all about making money and not about making war.
