Strangely enough, I love the Damocles Command Rhino.
Yes, you heard me (or read, I don't know), the humble Damocles Rhino.

It simply has fun rules and looks decent enough.

My second favourite is the Tarantula turret.

I'd say the Warhound too, but I think I love the idea of it more than the model itself.

Anything Adeptus Mechanicus related, i love their design and vibe. So damn much.

Also, Acanthrites (robot super killy flies are fairly cool) and anything Tallarn really.
I'm honestly tempted to by some Ryza executioner and Tallarn snipers now...

I wish FW wasnt so expensive since it has so many cool models that almost nobody gets to play with. And with a price difference of upto 60% between them and recasters, you'd think they could go down a notch.

what you want them to discount so that the recasters become worse value? that aint gonna happen,

and the recasters to aus pricing is 50% less than FW. and i am happy as a pig in mud with my real models.

Sigh. Not this nonsense again. Recasters can sell at much cheaper prices because they don't have to pay the sculptors, pay to write the rules, pay wages above starvation level, etc. Ripping off someone else's work is always going to be cheaper than having to make your own products. Complaining about how expensive the real thing is compared to a recast makes about as much sense as complaining about how expensive movies are when you can just pirate them for free.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

you do know that forgeworld is more expensive than finecast, right? you're trying too hard to to avert attention from the additional brand name fee on top of gw's brand name already. which is why forgeworld pricing cannot be defended by any of the points you made except "it is their right to set it to whatever rate they want to"

you are aware that ForgeWorld use a different resin, make a better product than the base GW resin rubbish, etc etc.

Gw's brand name is the run of the mill models, FW are the apex, they are the luxury stuff, do you see ferrari selling a car cheaper because GM do?

edit: and you were comparing FW to recasters... not even base GW. the recasters as you quoted dont do ANYTHING that has actual costs, hell their labour is in the region of 10$ a week. where the poms are paying 10-20 POUNDS an hour...

Actually, minimum wage in Shanghai (where the recasters have their factories) is about $300 per month. Typically, factory workers earn about 25% above that, or more if the particular product requires additional training. Labour is cheap in China, but not ridiculously cheap.

the responses thus far have been pretty amazing. We all want a piece of FW it seems and those who have some already cant get enough of it. Keep the opinions and pics coming in everyone, its a very interesting thread to see what you are all cheering for and why

by the way those of you who own a few and have them painted and uploaded pics, well done, the work is awesome

So many pretties in the Forge World lineup.....I really like the Elysium Drop-troops. However the Horus Heresy range is just awesome. In particular the Mechanicus models. I had no intention whatsoever of getting back into 40K, but on looking at the Thallax and the Castellans......very tempted to pick up a few and do a small Mechanicus army. I'm not even overly fussed about winning with it, the models are just so damn awesome.....
