Edit: At the time of my first posting I am pretty sure I had a reason beyond "gun control" but clearly I have forgotten what it was after a nights sleep and went to my go-to option when someone replied!

Edit 2: Was just making a sandwich and remembered what my point was! Whenever I see complaints about the situation at the boarder the complaints are always "the federal government isn't doing enough" or "the federal government is doing it wrong!". It seems to me as if border security at a state level would be an effective way of representing the wishes of residents of the states - no more so than through the use of state organised (or at least well regulated and recognised) militia.

Just to be clear, National Guard =/= militia.

The man has a valid point. You know what is even worse, if Mexico was halfway around the world from us we'd probably be dispatching troops to whatever country ended up north of them and getting UN support to enter the country and "install a stable and democratic government".

But in all seriousness I'm with the above on the when the h-e-double hockey sticks did it become cool for another countries military to shoot at American citizens? I can kind of forgive the whole entering the country part since the boarder can get a little fuzzy, but regardless shooting at our boarder patrol regardless of which side of the boarder they are on should be an international incident and at the very least should get an official wag of the finger

I saw a video on making a fence on youtube, it's tougher than it looks. You need this thing, it looks like 2 shovels clamped together, called a "post hole digger", and to be honest you really need at least 2 guys. So I can see why we haven't done this.

I've been criticized by other posters that "doing more" to secure the border is pointless.

We'd just need to find the will... as, this is one of the function of the Federal Government.

We need to not only do what we can to secure our borders... but, to throw the books at employers who are willfully hiring illegals. Fine them so much... such that it'll actually be an actual deterrence.

If the mexican army keeps crossing the border with guns its only a matter of time before they engage some border patrol or something else in a firefight.

I fully expect to be schooled, because I'm no gun owner/user, but after looking at the gun in Frazz's survival kit, am I the only one that thought 38 smith and Weston = low muzzle velocity = low stopping power = hard to put down zombies, cyborgs, space monkey, or skynet!

Like I said, I'm no gun expert and I fully expect somebody to tell me that the pictured revolver can shoot down a stealth bomber!

1. Put up serious barriers on the border to interdict drugs, terrorists, and get control. This means military (take it from Europe, Korea, and frankly everywhere else)
1.a Put the illegal immigrants who want to be here on track like normal immigration procedures + 5 years. Full background checks have t be done or else out. Any criminal activity and auto out.
1.b Set up a simple bracero program for legal cross border labor.

2. Legalize weed but drop the hammer on other illegal drug and people trade.

3. Provide military and intelligence assistance to Mexico to go after the cartels (we are now but step it up). Its a civil war. Act like it and pick the side of the good guys.

4. Invade Tahiti. Just because.
