Good consumer reports and people I know having decent luck with recent model Fords. Plus, the Fusion looks pretty sharp for not being a high end car.

That would have been my first choice, but we lack the infrastructure in the midwest to properly support one.

We currently have:

2008 H2 (going up for sale soon)
2006 Honda Odyssey (family truckster)
2013 F350 long bed diesel dually 4WD crew cab (hauls horses, hay, fencing material, stuff)
2006 Honda Goldwing Trike (wife's ride)
2011 Harley Rocker-C which is very customized (my ride)

Recently gave the 2006 F350 to Son2

A couple of years ago this wondrous beast got driven through a guardrail and destroyed.

This is the truck:

It started the day with 10 rolls of that fencing, 24 wood posts, 75 6ft T-posts, and 24 50-pound bags of quickcrete on the trailer, and a slew of appropriate tools in the bed. Ended the weekend empty except the tools I was driving back home. (put up the fence at the place we are renting in NC in prep to move the horses up there this winter)

Damn, some nice looking rides in this thread.

I drive a '13 Veloster Turbo. The third door in the passenger side always gets people. Its my favourite game to play with people first seeing my car.

She's fun, good mileage, and was reasonably priced given the competition for hot hatches in the ~200HP range. That and I love the styling.

I tested the BMW 5 and 3 series, the Mercedes E class, and the Audi A4 and A6.... of all three brands here's how I personally felt driving them. (this is all purely opinion, as some of you may disagree with me, and that's OK... you aren't my chauffeur )

The BMW's felt "cheap" in their steering/reaction on the road. The leather felt rather rough and unrefined. The control systems were just simply weird, the shifter was just plain wonky to me (you tap the lever down to put it into drive, and it pops back to it's starting position, you tap it another direction for reverse, and you tap/hold for park... just fething weird)

The Mercedes... Well, as I said, I drove the E class... and I felt far, FAR too young to be driving it. It really does have that "Old Man Car" feel to it. The C class may not have those issues, but I was "stuck" with a gak salesman and requests to talk to someone else went unnoticed.

The Audi's were great. Both the A4 And A6 rode a tad bit rougher than the Merc, but it wasn't rough in a cheap way... It's down to the racing inspired/racing roots engineering that goes into Audi. I guess "rough" isn't the best word, as the cars are extremely responsive and agile and you get the feeling of driving something like a corvette, or the R8 but with too many doors

I personally have the 4 cylinder turbo, with the 8 speed automatic. The shifting is so smooth you rarely feel it, but it has so much "get up and go" that I have yet to find someone I couldn't pass when they piss me off for being to slow Ohh, and totally an extra bonus for me: the Bose sound system was standard (you can upgrade to Harmon Kardon for a pretty penny though) so XM's Liquid Metal station sounds awesome

I had a driver, but due to anti-discrimination laws, and the applicants, I had to hire Hellen Keller... Didn't work out so well for me Now, I no longer outsource my driving.

Sorry. It was the 'vette. The bike is my current ride (though it has a bit more chrome now than the day that pic was taken). The 'vette was a write off, completely destroyed. At least no one was hurt.

Yep, it's not that much better in Germany. We will be able to charge it at home and at work though. And I can already see the fights about who's going to drive each day

...actually...wife...most of the time. I don't like driving very much and she loves it.

Being a student I can't afford my own car, but insured on my parents' Suzuki Ignis. Ugly as feth but goes like a bullet. Also went to a track day a couple of months go, drove a Ferrari F430, Lambo Gallardo and Mclaren 12C. The Lambo in particular was a whole new experience: you'd have better luck trying to steer an aircraft carrier.

I had to make a U-turn in our F350 the other day. It has the opposite of a tiny turning circle.

But curbs don't bother it much.

I never drove an A6 but they always seemed too big for some reason. Am I crazy? Does it feel like a "big" car when you drive it?
