And why are they holding to that when they're liquidating their GW stock and (presumably) not ordering any more?

Its actually a US vs UK/ Rest of world thing, as far as I know.
Its ridiculous, but GW are allowed to make it hard for people to sell their own product out of fear that they will somehow make less money if they sell more stuff.

Sadly, nothing there that I really need. Bargains for those who still need/want some stuff.

I had a question about ordering and have yet to get a response since the Live Chat was down. I imagine by the time I do get one the stuff I am interested in will be sold out.

There were multiple questions, actually. Some of it I figured out eventually by trawling the site, but the main was how to combine GW stuff and other items from the site. Still not sure on that.

I assume it says that GW want to allow sites to stock their stuff to draw people in, and hope they go direct to GW next time. Great move GW, making people jump through hoops just makes them give up on GW altogether.

AFAIK, It's because pulling gak like that in the EU is illegal. The only way they'd be able to stop people mail ordering stuff in the EU, legally, is if they shut down their own webstore too.

Add other items from the site to the bottom of the GW spreadsheet. I've done that in the past with no issues.

I see you and I have something in common.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Yeah it's probably pretty hard to find a $40 land raider these days (of course they probably already sold that one).

Passed my will save though so someone else can have all the goodies

That's their plan they only care about capturing short term. To them if they only sell it on the GW website that's expected as they've never seen it else where.

Not quite true in the US. Miniature Market is an actual physical store, so the stupid policy applies to everyone

It applies to everyone in North America, and is slowly succeeding in squashing GWs online competition, ans they slowly give up, not wanting to deal with all the hassle GW puts them through to sell their product.

Plus I imagine all the chinese recasters are hurting the people who resell GW product more than GW themselves

II don't think recasters are an especially big problem for the independents. In 2.5 years, I've seen one recast Dreadnought one guy got in a big used lot, and that's it for GW prime stuff. Seen lots of recast Forgeworld, both from China and people who've done it themselves, however. (Says a lot that people will go through the hassle of learning how to cast things themselves due to the considerable cost and difficulty of getting FW, I wonder if GW trying to restrict it's own outlets will eventually have the same effect).

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

@MajorStoffer Frugal people will look for the least expensive alternative to get the models. Resellers would offer the same convenience of GW at 20-30% off. When the recasters started offering comparable product for 50% off, some of that buissness went to the recasters. Also, the recasters offering Forgeworld models at prices below the resellers discounted prices for the regular GW models it shifts sales to more recast Forgeworld product.

In the past year alone I have bought from GW for direct only items, my FLGS for impulse buys and rule books, Miniatures Market for 30% off models that actually come with instructions, Chinese Recasters for models 50-70% off, and Ebay when I can get stuff 50%+ off.

GW got a cut of all those sales indirectly.
Miniatures Market only got a slice when I bought from them.
The recasters got a growing cut of the pie, that used to go Miniatures Market.

Is it just me, or does it seem like GW just wants to withdraw to the UK? Odd selling policies, closing and shrinking of stores, no support for FLGS, and other little things makes me think they want to make the same money, but only have to sell to the UK.

Well, I managed to resist buying, and most everything I would want is gone now. All that is left is the Plastic Librarian and maybe Codex: Space Marines(I have the eBook). Even though the savings would be great, I kinda would rather just use Amazon or buy locally.

I still have a ton of stuff to build, and even more stuff to paint anyway.

It's absolutely, fething nuts. Honestly, a first year business student would be weeping into their hands with some of the above - even in a monopolised situation, where you have complete control over the marketplace, reducing the opportunity for your customer to purchase (and points of sale) is just really bad business practice. But it's not a monopoly, and compounded by the fact that many of their competitors (even though they are small-fry by comparison) are doing it so much better, and why many of those companies are growing while GW is shrinking.
