Love the naturalistic look to your swarm. They look amazing all together.

I really want one of those Broodlords now.

Colours on them look great, very buggy.

That's a very cool paint scheme for the Tyranids. The Malanthrope is especially slick looking.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

That's an awesome looking army. I really like your paintscheme. Too bad I just sold my 'nids or I should have tried it myself.

I love your scheme too, very striking - the stark highlights on the carapaces really make them pop and are very well excecuted. And the new Mawloc looks excellent!

Thank you all for the compliments. I have an embarrassing amount of unpainted models left to complete. Working hard on getting stuff done.

Heres my new Tyrant I completed this month for the Dakka unofficial painting challenge. Was excellent motivation to get him finished.

Brilliant work as per usual. What is your plan for basing the swarm?

I am clearly a commitaphobe. I haven't decided yet. Either a desert-ish scheme, or a dark earth.

Something that would contrast with all the pale skin would look really nice. Maybe something like the martian look which is so popular at the moment.

I've been seriously tempted by all the new technical paint - in particular the martian earth. Was very close to pulling the trigger on martian earth like you suggest.

Curious on how you base them, a fertile forest/jungle would look ace. The boring static grass on mine doesn't do much for the scheme.

I had the same scheme back in 4th/5th edition, http://www.coolminiornot.com/260459

The skin with chestnut ink was a nightmare. New Washes made it quite a bit easier. Are you airbrushing the skin? Otherwise the carapace is much neater/more organized then mine. Great work on the new plastic Tyrants!

Oh dang! Your scheme was the inspiration for my Nids! Slight differences between your's and mine.

I haven't decided how I want to base them. It keeps me up at night. Haha!

I paint with a brush. I try and do my carapace as a hybrid between your style and the style used in Hive Fleet Eumenides.

Huge fan of Eumenides. I originally took the carapace ideas from the 3rd edition kraken / a few artists who had the dark red with blood red streak highlights like that. there was a famous Tyranid army from 3rd/4th edition years back I would see at tournaments as a teenager with the Eumenides green skin and a bleached bone carapace done the same.

For basing look into the Army Painter Tufts (They look drastically better then woodland scenics or GW grass static). They're cheap on the Warstore.

What color do you think would go well with the alien ship/zerg creep basing?

You game in Cali? Do you know a Comedian fellow named Ian that games out of LA?

Will look into it. My plan is to paint the zerg-creep in the flesh accent colors of my Nids > Ratflesh > Reikland Fleshshade > Kislev flesh.

I mainly play up in Northern California, so I don't know any LA locals.

I'd love to see a test done of that basing on one of the little bugs.

As GW loves to be "inspired" by other Sci-fi concepts I would love it if they added a Creep mechanic.

Having a unit which puts out creep tumors that function the way they do in Starcraft would be so awesome. Giving a buff within X" to represent the creep would be really fun.

Gonna finish my Broodlord and a few Genestealers for this month's Dakka painting challenge. The theme is "stealth" so I thought the Genestealers were fitting. My Broodlord is almost finished, so it's cheating a bit, but I don't care because it's motivation to get him all finished.

A fitting choice for the theme for sure. I should really track down one of those Broodlords for my own swarm. Such a cool model. Massive upgrade from old "Come at me bro!"

I should ask Talys. He probably bought like 6 of those boxed sets

Another WIP of the Genestealers. My local group is also doing a painting challenge this month so I am killing two birds with one stone. The challenge is to paint a 'box worth' of models. A single unit. So i'll be painting another 4 stealers by the 17th.

Some slight movement on my Tyranids. Have been busy painting and playing This Is Not A Test - but got a bit burnt out and started back up on my nids. Finished a Mawloc and the first 10 of 30 Gargoyles!

Also took some new shots of a few of my big bugs with my basing scheme when I had access to a nice camera recently.
