Ok so I've finally got something worth posting (it's been a slow week) nearly done on my front rank the two at either end have just had a wash and the middle 4 are pretty much done just the odd touch up methinks. And the banner and shields obviously, think I'm going to do all the shields together at the very end so that they have more cohesion.
I must say I'm struggling to not build any of the other units so I've had to put them away because I promised myself that I would build then paint a unit at a time. With my marines and guard I just went into a massive year long kitbash frenzy and now as a result I have a mountain to climb. Got about a third of the marines done and none of the guard. Therefore I must be strong and not listen to my skullcrushers saying in tiny plastic voices... (build me, kitbash all over my face!)
Lol
Anyhoo less weird more pictures! Nearly done on the champions face got the tone right I think to contrast nicely with the reds, all the others will be similar. I think I might mingle my bare heads through the ranks?
Any thoughts etc would be great at this point.

Not much time for painting recently hence the lack of posts
Too many late nights and early mornings :-( work work
Looking forward to the new khorne units coming out! Think the bloodthirster is a little bit out of my price range though
I'll just have to settle for the mongers and reapers

last night I managed to get 8 warriors built ready for painting as I've decided to do 2 batches of 8 rather than 4 of 4.
so just 1 more batch after that then I'll be done hooray! Added some more highlights to the previous 8 so they're done now except for shields, bases and the banner.
Changed the order round too so bare heads and helmets are mixed up, bit more chaotic lol
Also decided that my reward to myself for finishing this army (well, what I currently have anyway ) is the new bloodthirster! Happy days!!
It's given me a bit of motivation
Apologies for the quick pics I took them on the fly this morning

They look really nice without the horns.

I'm looking forward to to the bloodthirster too, do you reckon you could take some snaps of it un-painted as well? (when you get it of course)

Thanks! I felt they looked so much better without horns too! The bloodthirster may be a few weeks maybe even a couple of months I've still got a bit to do; 10 knights, 10 Bloodletters, 2 chariots, a Sorcerer lord conversion and of course 3 skullcrushers (which I'm looking forward to the most!)
I'll be taking pics of everything I do so don't worry bloodthirster fans, it'll make an appearance at some point :-D

OK just a warning, many pictures to follow
I borrowed my wife's phone which has a wahay better camera than mine as you will see
so, had a busy evening managed to get the current batch to the wash stage and some more depth to the bare head gang (who i must stress aren't finished yet)
as mentioned before ive jiggled the ranks around a tiny bit, mostly cos i wanted to get the two warriors who now sit at the left into the front rank.
you might also notice the extra highlights ive done on the cloaks, adds the bit of contrast we were talking about.
there are still a lot of touch ups to do even on the finished ones where ive been a tiny bit sloppy, im guilty of rushing a bit sometimes
anyhoo hers the pics!

Thoughts, comments, critique, bladibla all welcome!!

FINALLY!!!
I got my last 8 warriors built and filed down plus all the shields ready for painting. I have really been dragging my heels with these guys but the end is in sight! Hooray!
I'm sure that if I can get over this 1st hurdle then the rest of the army will follow.
I think I'll paint my beastmen next, got a unit of 30 gors built from last year that just need filing. Gonna try and batch paint the lot in one fell swoop!
Anyhoo here are tonight's pictures

Tonight I managed to get all the shields painted and the Battle Standard started. Also done the red bits on the last 8 warriors. Not long now, hopefully these will be done by the end of the week.
Any thoughts on how to base these guys? My original idea was cracked earth with red and orange showing through plus some scorched grass.
Any ideas?
Here's some pics of the shields, it's the first shields I've ever done I'm quite pleased with how they've turned out :-)

I look at your warriors, then at my 15 still being painted, and just sigh. So, much, to, paint...

Fear not! Try doing 5 at a time? That's only 3 batches...
I did two batches of 4 then two batches of 8. The mould line cleaning stage is the worst bit after that it actually gets quite fun ;-)

Tonight I've basecoated the remaining 8 warriors and glued the shields on to the others. A lot of touch ups needed like some shields, leather areas and faces to be finished but apart from that this unit is nearly done. I've decided to base the whole army when it's finished to get some consistency and I've also decided against getting a bloodthirster and skarr blooddude.
The new skitarii models had a big part to play in that decision.
I'm so weak...
Here's some (lots of) pictures

I was building a juggernaut Lord to get cosy with my skullcrushers (bitsandkits.com had a sale on so got a complete juggernaut for £6! awesome)
i was trying to make him look simple and functional, I'm not a big fan of huge helmets and stuff like that on characters. He is, after all, only in it for the skulls (and blood).
