Great job man. My youngest brother is drooling over the Autocannon guy you have in Power Armor.
He wanted to know if you had any ideas for making Havocs in a similar vein?

On my own statements, I would say this is an army that would seriously benefit from 32mm bases rather than 25mm bases. Those guys look beefy.

Thanks! You might be right about beefing up the bases. I definitely want these guys to look more intimidating than stock GW models. I think that Space Marines should dwarf regular humans like Guardsmen or Xenos like Tau, Eldar, etc.

As for ideas, I definitely have those! I'm working on a second Autocannon Terminator right now (with the cool Space Wolves Terminators belt-to-backpack feed style gun), as well as one or two more power armor ones. I have a metal Havok Autocannon, and may use it in a conversion, but have to figure out how to integrate the metal without making the figure topple over all the time from uneven weight distribution of a metal/plastic hybrid.

In short, I recommend taking the SM Devastators Heavy Bolter, cut off much of the front (depending on what you plan to replace it with) and then attach a suitably Autocannon-looking barrel. As you can see, I've used an Imperial Guard one (from Heavy Weapons, I believe, though I think one from the Sentinel or Baneblade would work equally well), and on another, unpictured conversion, have used one of the twin ones from the Defiler. I'll try to take pics later to illustrate him, but the basic idea is the same.

Hope that might help your bro. Lmk if you have any more questions!

The terminators and chosen look really ornate. I love them!

The press molds were very effective. Have you used them to capture the texture on blade edges? Many of the recent demon claws and blades have a very old-school texture to them that might work well for banding or edge decorations. Also, With some Epic sprues, you can cut little heads off of little demons for bling.

I never thought about using Epic figs as little statuary for 40k scalle stuff, but that's a pretty cool idea! Maybe next time we convene for some trading I can pick up a few Epic bits from you. I still owe you access to my Space Elves!

It's been too long, but I've done a ton of work since my last update. In addition to the crazy tricked out Terminators, I've been working on some crazy tricked-out Berzerkers/World Eaters. Same basic idea with these guys: I am trying to recapture the old-school aesthetic of baroque ornamentation. As my friend bobtheinquisitor said, Chaos is all about accoutrements.... So my dudes have some serios bling and mad style.

Here's a group shot of the lads, the ones more or less finished at this point:

Close-up ofthe Icon Bearer (most recently completed)

You may be able to tell that he is a kitbash from a DARK VENGEANCE Chosen and a Blood Warrior from the Age of Sigmar set, with a couple other Fantasy and 40K bits thrown in.

Another based on the body of Kharn, sans head and arms, with some Wrathmonger bits and an axe from DV, with a customized Berzerker helm (Berzerker + part of a Skullcrusher helm).

And I spent a good bit of tims on his scenic base, an dunfortunate decapitated Sanguinary Guard. Here's a pic of just the base:

Here's one based on the body of the Aspiring Champion fig (Vrosh Tattersoul?). I like the dynamism of this fig, and the Raptor chainswords were perfect. And he gets Kharn's uniquebackpack.

View from the back:

I've got several more of these guys done (you can se inthe group pic) and will post more pics. I'm also happy to talk about how I made these, what parts I used, the techniques necessary... Im just vain and very proud of these works

Any feedback or commentary welcome, of course. Thanks Dakka!

Thanks! Very high praise indeed coming from the Scientist himself

I even have a couple more Termies in progress, a couple more DV/AoS kitbashed in progress and other projects like sorcerers (not Khorne) and a vehicle or two. Trying to get a solid 8-man Khorne squad before I seriously move on to the next project though.

More pics shortly!

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

These look amazing, especially Tattersoul, as do all the other models. I particularly love the Terminator with the reaper auto cannon - using the wickedly hooked raptor chainsword as a bayonet attachment is utterly maniacal.

It's great to know krautscientist has inspired another hobbyist to set up their own blog!
I too followed similar inspiration and set up my iron warriors blog because i am also a conversion junkie!
I'm very much liking these models, keep up the excellent work and i'll be looking forward to your next update

The new Icon Bearer looks very imposing. I love the way the cape adds bulk to him, as well as the topknot. The chestplate and tabard/loincloth is suitably blinged out. The new plastic pieces have so much more ornate detail than the old Chaos Marines that it makes each one of your conversions look like some champion or character who would normally have several murdered worlds' worth of backstory in 3rd or 4th edition.

Having seen many of them in real life, I am impressed with how well you fit all the little bits from various kits together, giving the new model a cohesive look. The bits also add a lot more three dimensionality to the minis than the older resins or metals had on their own. The double shoulderpads and forearm claws are some of my favorite pieces, and they make the raptor/tattersoul guy look like a total berserker, in the sense that he can really shred face with just about any part of his armor.

My favorite pose is a toss up between the running guy and the guy standing on the broken Blood Angel. Probably the latter as it looks more distinctive.

The resin Kharn head with the plastic 'ears' is s very effective of old style and new style CSM design, in my opinion.

Thanks for the good words, "Bob" I'm definitely trying to go for additional bulk, since Space Marines are supposed to be huge, but of course are only as big as a standard human (like, Cadians, etc.). None of that nonsense! I do tricks like the cape, putting a slip of thick plasticard between their feet and the base, the extra shoulderpads, and so forth to make them more imposing. It's kind of an ad hoc truescale.

And you're right about the level of detail in these new kits. The Dark Vengeance Chosen and the various new Khorne stuff for Fantasy /AoS are super ornate, and exactly what I'm looking for in my guys. I like these kits so much that I even decided to make a Khorne force against my better judgement. I'd have preferred an undivided force, but the quality of the Khorne-oriented kits is just undeniable.

More coming shortly!

Got a few more pics of some guys, these two:

The one on the left is the first one of these Berzerkers that I started on, months and months ago. I got him about 75% done, and then set him aside. I returned to him when I started the Berzerker/Old School project in earnest. He went through a lot of revisions, particularly the weapon choice and the head. The head was a pain, but I like the idea of putting Fantasy "ears" on the FW resin heads, and think I may do it for a couple more dudes.

The other guy also went through a bunch of revisions before finally arriving at the form you see here. I am pretty darn pleased with him though, especially the custom left-handed chainaxe.

Two more guys based on DV/AoS hybrids are in the works, as are various other projects. Soon I'll start working on their pimped-out Rhino transport (I've set aside some Forge World World Eaters doors for that).

Any commentary welcome! Thanks Dakka!

Here are my first two conversions that are mostly a kitbash of the AoS Khorne Blood Warriors and Dark Vengeance Chosen. They are about 98% done - I just need to glue a few of the bits together, etc.

The pair:

The runner:

I' still on the fence about his head/helm/face. I'm inclined to remove the face and add an enclosed helm, like the other guy, but I'm not 100% confident it will look really good (and, frankly, it's a pain in the butt.)

Here's the other one:

As you can see, they both have custom chainaxes. I've been putting no small amount of effort into converting weapons for these guys. I want them all to have really cool looking weapons, not just a bunch of armor bling.

As ever, I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts. Thanks Dakka!

Thanks! I appreciate the vote of non-chaos fan confidence

I can't take all the credit anyhow, the new kits really do a great job of bringing out a creepier, more baroque vibe. I'm just a ping up what they've been doing.

More pics sons!

Thanks! I am tired of the over-emphasis on Khorne and Nurgle, and really wish they'd give the other two some love, but the quality and intricacy of the new Khorne stuff just cant be denied.

I'm actually planning a Slaanesh sorcerer conversion soon. I need just a couple more bits. I'll post a WIP when i start. Actually, I have a general non-god specific sorcerer in Power Armor I have already started that I could take pics of and post...

More shortly friends!
