I've been back in Goblin town digging out the old Citadel Goblin Green after about a year out spent painting tiny 6mm WWII aircraft.
Got a Shaman nearly finished today. Bit of detail still to complete, crummy phone pic to follow soon.
But I was looking at the crummy Boss from the old WFB box set, the one in the pic above with the squig. He's rubbish, let's be honest. I want to make a new big boss for my Goblin army. Not necessarily big, just characterful and nasty looking.
Any ideas?

As promised, a dodgey phone pic of my latest green offering.
Forgot just how much detail can be in these little fellas!

Found this sorry excuse for a n' th edition plastic fantastic goblin standard bearer. He's my best bet for a slightly bigger goblin bod for my boss so its in the dip with him.

He's cleaned up and the bits are assembled... Mostly. Think I'll use a different wolf skin cloak. And there's a hair-squig on the loose that I need to track down for his head.

Went rummaging through my collection of Unpainted Gobos looking for an easy treat because the giant I'm painting is taking an absolute age, and also because I feel bad about adding another mini to the que when some have been languishing in bare-metal limbo for years.
I found three likely lads. One of them had the ancient inscription GW 1984 underneath! They were long overdue a paint job!
So next thing coming up is three super vintage fanatics.
Nice and bright like oldhammer should be, I think.

Go for it! While the models are likely older than the majority of currently registered Dakkanauts (possibly including me, depending on when they were cast, despite the master's dating ), there are still plenty of old grognards that dig the earlier style(s).

Oh I dig old goblins.
These little critters are just beautifully characterful sculpts. Just need five spare minutes to point a camera at them. I could eventually do a "fanatics through the ages" piece, if I had the modern plastic set. But I've got into double figures with fanatics already as it is.

Alright folks. I've been splurging on goblin treats for long enough and so the time has come to paint another unit.
So i'll make it 20 goblins of your choice. And your choices are...
1-Another Skull Pass unit of Night Goblin Spears. (Not pictured, we all know what the Skull pass Goblins look like)
2-A unit of Skull Pass Forest Goblin Spider Riders.
3-A Night Goblin plastic box set with hand weapons.
4-A bunch of plastic Old-hammer Goblin Archers. (The grey plastic ones in the picture)
5-A bunch of plastic super-Oldhammer Goblin Archers (the white plastic ones, I have about a dozen maybe)
6-A bunch of plastic Oldhammer Goblin Spears. (Also in the picture)
7-A unit of Oldhammer Wolf riders. (One of these kids is not like the others)
I've also got a unit of metal squig herders and some metal clubbers and netters, but they're more like specials compared to the mountain of plastic I'm looking at.
I know its not exactly the most exciting selection but it'll get me to the next more interesting choice of specials. Which includes any number of fanatics, a doom diver, my new Goblin Boss and another shaman.

Thanks for the comments folks. That giant took a lot of time and effort. Had to take a break and do this little fella in between sittings cause I was just sick of looking at him.
he's a wee Kev Adams special courtesy of Warmonger minis which I received from Buttery Commissar. (Thanks again)
So that's two votes for wolf riders and one for unspecified oldhammer archers.... I dunno. Wolf riders feels like a bit of a cheat. But you know, I still gotta do 'em.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the giant folks. He's a real centrepiece for the army which I'm pretty happy about.
As far as an update goes, Well... Due to a combination of circumstances (ie having already primed goblins in work (where I do most of my painting) and no opportunity to prime archers or wolf riders at home) I've been painting more Skull pass spears and my Goblin Boss.
More disappointing phone pics of those to follow when they're done, of the spears unit anyway, as they are most decidedly... Tabletop standard.

One Goblin Boss all done. (Accept his base, because I thought he might like a big log or something to stand up on. Maybe... Might show off his sneakers better.
I'm not super happy with him. Its maybe the crummy old goblin sculpt. No matter how many weapons, and accessories I add his face still looks... unimpressive. Not to worry, in the increasingly unlikely event that I ever actually play my goblins army I'll most likely not even have a boss for a leader as Shamans were always a big part of my goblin force. Lots of 'em.
"But wait! You're supposed to be painting more goblin units! 20 goblins you said! I demand 20 goblins!" I hear no-one cry. Never fear, my payment for yet another character has been painted in full.
More night goblins. Turns out I took a little more care over them than anticipated. Not lots though.
But my intention to hit the wolf riders and archers next still stands so I'll get the old rattle can out and black 'em all up over the weekend.

Boss gobo got a log to stand on. Helps him feel big.
Not much of an update I know but I've also primed about 50 more goblins so the rest of the units can be painted in work on my lunch breaks. 5 wolf riders and some archers coming up.

Slapped a bit of paint on this fella.
He makes for a much more interesting update. Cause lets be honest, nobody wants to see sad generic 20 year old half painted goblin archers. Actually that's a bit generous, they're nowhere near half done. Probably because I took a break to do this guy.

Hey look, another fully painted goblin infantry unit!
Only kidding, its just another fanatic. Think I'll maybe add a yellow trim around his hood. And the obligatory leafy base of course.
The oldhammer archers are finally base coloured and I've begun the washing stage. Man I hate these things. They're sucking my will to live. Seriously, when these 20 plastic gak-pieces are done I'm not painting another Goblin for a LONG time! I'm gonna need like a Battletech pallet-cleanser to take the taste of goblin green away.

Yeah, the red converse are a recurring feature of my goblin army. Mostly it's just in the sculpt of the figure's footware. Rounded toes on Goblins will 9 times out of ten end up red and white. It started with Fungus the Loon in my BloodBowl team (see page 1 of this thread)
Glad you like them, even though they break the fantasy theme a little. Its goblins, theyre meant to beak the rules.

At long last I can finally share this gak-piece goblin archers unit. Gork, I'm sick of these guys. Seriously folks, life's too short to paint bad goblins.
The drudgery of nasty sameness was somewhat leavened by the inclusion of the typical "champion", musician and standard bearer command trio. The musician is a classic metal Kev Adams Night Goblin and the Srandard is an even older fanatic from yesteryear converted with my own unique take on the "Bad-Moon on a Stick" theme. Check out the goblin ears coming out through his hood! You cant really see them in the pic actually, nevermind, just made me smile. Before the rest of the unit made me cry, that is!
Glad they're done with anyway. Like the purple bows, that's about it. No more.
That said I haven't got any more planes yet so unless I build a bunch more Necromunda objectives I got nuthin' but more goblins to do. Actually that's not true of course I'm sure I could find a battlemech or two to work on. ...or another Fanatic.
Whoops, too late... Couldn't help it.
And of course he's rockin' the red converse too.
Now of course, there's always the wolf riders... Getting there... slowly. Did some dry brushing... Its a start.
