Had a big Age of Sigmar game!

It took ages it play and we didn't get to finish it, but it was still such a fun game. The more games of Age of Sigmar that I play, the more I enjoy it.

The objective of the game was to try and get most models holding that Dragonfate Dais in the center of the board by the end of the game. It was Chaos, Dark Elves, Goblins and Skaven vs Stormcast Eternals, Empire, Dwarves and Wood Elves. The funniest moment definitely had to be when the Ophidian Archway came alive and ate the giant! Unfortunately my Goblins were taking quite a battering from the Stormcast Eternals which got me thinking about what I can add to the army to bolster it up. I'm thinking about starting with two squads of Spider Riders. On their war-scroll they have a special rule where on rolls of six to hit, the spiders inflict poisoned bites which inflict mortal wounds, which should negate the Stormcasts 3+ save and re-roll on ones. Also Spider Riders have an 8" move, meaning that they would be a great unit to attack on the enemy flanks whilst my main force attacks the enemy front. I also plan on getting some more trolls (one is not enough ) and a lot more Night Goblins so I can have 40-man squads instead of 20-man squads.

Something odd to say - your works in progress do not look promising at all, but then your finished products looks fantastic! How do you manage to suddenly make it all come good!?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Posting as Fifty_Painting on Instagram.

Thanks for pointing it out. I think that the problem is that the photo quality is not as good. When I finish a miniature I take the time to set up a background and get decent lighting. When I am working on something I tend to just take quick photos on my phone. I'll try to improve the quality of the WIP photos.

I played a big game of Age of Sigmar with a few friends. It was good (Storm-casts, Elves and Empire vs evil (Dark Elves, Chaos and Goblins). The objective for the good guys was to stop the bad guys from reaching the inner section of the fortress. (Unfortunately) the good guys won although I reckon if we carried on for a couple more turns, the inner section would have been taken and it would of been a victory for the evil guys. . It had to be one of the most enjoyable wargaming experiences that I have had in a long time.

Hey people, I have been doing some painting.

Been painting up some more Chaos Space Marines. I have finished off most of the base colours and washes, now I shall be doing the detailing.

Here are some magnetised Chaos Terminators that I have been working on. I have started getting some base-colours and washes on them.

Working on the last of my Plague Drones and some more Chaos Space Marines.

Hey thank you very much for the comment! I still have the Nurgle Snails. I got them on my desk right now, ready for some paint. I also have loads more shells to make a lots more. Also I will be working on the Slaaneshi spiderwalker, I'll get started on it soon hopefully along with the Nurgle Knight titan that I have been planning.

Never let snails near a Nuclear reactor... Been painting up these miniatures that I'll be using as Chaos Spawn in my Chaos Space Marine army. They were made using shells found at my local beach and lots of greenstuff and hot-glue. Then I painted them up and added various washes and inks. I am really pleased with them so far, they look truly gruesome. What I have left to do is add more slime, using my super awesome slime recipe (baking soda + green ink) and finish of the detailing and add some flock to the base.

Now this is properly disgusting and obscene, Nurgle will be pleased ^^ !
Just an idea though, if it fits your fluff you could '40Kify' them a bit by sticking trophee spikes, hobby chains, vehicle bits, seals, corpses, or nurgle Icons on them.
Hell, you gould almost ft an entire Nurgle palanquin on one of those. But really, the pure warp beast look is totally fine too; your call of course !

Anyway, I like what I am seeing !

Thanks! I am pleased with how they look so far. I'll definitely be adding more bits to them. I'm also working on constructing some more. I'll post some more photos up soon.

I have been working on constructing some more Chaos Spawn. So far I have glued the shells on to the bases and started doing some of the greenstuff work. I think that they are looking pretty good so far, although the tentacles still need a bit more detailing, they look a bit too smooth at the moment.

I have also added a glossy finish on the two Spawn that I have painted up, to make them look even more gross and to prevent chipping.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year festivities. I certainly have, that's why I haven't been posting much on this blog. But now I'm back, eager to get miniatures finished off and start planned projects that I said I'd do, but have not got round to starting them yet. So currently, what I have to finish are:

- 10 Chaos Space Marines
- 10 Plague Zombies/Mutants
- 8 Chaos Cultists
- 5 Chaos Terminators
- 1 Plague Drone
- 3 Custom Chaos Spawn
- 4 Random Ork models
- 3 Chaos Lords

It looks like I still have a fair bit of work to do, but all of the models that are listed are in the process of being painted and have a base-coat on them, minimum. Once I get all of it painted, I can then focus on starting the projects that I was planning, such as Nurgle Imperial Knight scratch-build and the Slaaneshi-style Soulgrinder scratchbuild. I have concocted a few other ideas for deliciously Chaotic projects, but I won't go in to detail about them till I am ready to work on them.

Hello people here's a little update!

Been working on some more Chaos Space Marines for my Nurgle army. These guys are former Khorne worshippers who have fallen to the Nurgle side.

Looking good ! The khorne helmets are unorthodox but the color scheme make them work as the red echoes nicely with the corrupted armor plates.

The out of focus minis look promising too ^^ !

Thanks. The Khornate guys were brought from a friend and I was trying to figure out how I could include them in the army, whilst retaining that classic khornate feel to them.

Still working on the Khornate guys who have converted to Nurgle.
Not much left to do on them now, just a bit more detailing and a clear coat. Then I can take some decent photos of them.

Hey people!

Here is the beginning of scratch-building a Nurgle Knight Titan for my Chaos Space Marines army. So far it's just a wire frame, but I plan on bulking it up using paper and tape before I start sculpting on it, just to keep the weight down.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, the wire armature method of construction wasn't working very well for me, it was way too flimsy and kept falling apart. What I am thinking about is using more of a solid structure as the base model to work on, so maybe using a toy or existing model kit. LEGO's Bionicle might be a good candidate as they are mechanical looking, can be posed and are modular as well. I have actually made a Knight a while ago out of Bionicle. Unfortunately I didn't get round to finishing it and ended up throwing it away.

Cool scheme, looks great with everything unified.

With regards to your armature woes, Do you have any buddies who work in Supermarkets?

To seal bags of food waste they often use 'double loop ties'/'Sack ties' made of steel.

They are flexible enough but also Incredibly strong and make great heavy duty armatures. The smaller gauge wire you're using is better for details like hands and such.

You can also use sprue with Ooodles of plastic glue.

Weird thing but i really like your handwriting haha.

Thanks for the suggestion! I know of one friend who worked in a supermarket, but I'm unsure if he still does now, as I haven't talked to him in a while. I might go to the DIY store and see what kinds of wire they have there. The main problem with the last one was definitely that the wire wasn't sturdy enough.

Another issue I have discovered is figuring out how to add bulk to the armature without using heavy and potentially messy materials like clay and milliput. On the last attempt, I tried using scrunched up paper, taped to the wire frame and tried sculpting on top of that, but I found that the paper starts to unravel and unstick the tape.

Spoiler:

As you can see, it is an absolute mess.

One possible option is to just spend a lot of time, building up the wire frame and actually just start building the basic form of it completely out of wire. Then add a couple of layers of modroc to provide a surface to sculpt on. That's the exact process I used to make this fairy tree...
Spoiler:
