Mantic Elves are like Marmite.
Love them for being different or hate them because they're different.
To each their own.
Respectfully,
That Lee guy

Just to be contrary, I dislike them for broadly the same reasons I dislike GW high elves -pointy helmets look stupid army wide!

The Mantic elf helms are pretty much straight up Celtic helmets....
I am not saying that you can't feel that they look silly - but they are a historic option....
And they aren't as bad as the two foot tall pointy helmets that GW high elves wear. (I once did a mini of a High Elf general, holding his helmet in his arms... to reveal that he was a Cone Head from Saturday Night Live.... I repeated the joke for WH40K Eldar.)

There's a lot of hate for fabulous headwear in this thread all of a sudden.
I have to admit, I'm the kind of guy who craves fancy hats so badly that I'll glue bits to my Mantic elves and dwarfs' heads to get my fix.

So, how do you feel about Abyssal dwarfs?
The Auld Grump - who doesn't hate silly hats. (And has worn the Reaper Bones Kaladrax as part of a wizard's hat....)
Replace the base with a pointy hat.
Add a feather.

I would love hard plastic Abyssal Dwarfs. I may eventually get the restic ones when I finish all of my other Mantic restic minis while flying my personal scramjet through the atmosphere of Terra Trenta, in the Larson Galaxy that will never exist because, jeez, restic sucks butt like an uncovered pool drain.
And I wore Kaladrax on my shoulder. High five!

hard plastic Abyssal Dwarf sprue with options to make Decimators would be like printing money for Mantic.

Pointy helms are Celtic true (and I love me some Celts), but not everyone in the army wore them in a uniform fashion, so for some reason I like it. Dunno, just the entire army of bishop-hats does not do it for me.
I am hmming and hawwing over the Abysssal Dwarves. I love Evil Dwarves, and I'm sorta keen to model some up, but I'm not a huge fan of the look Mantic went for. I think I'd prefer a Duregar look over the sort of GW Chaos Dorfs rip offs that Mantic made, though I think the Mantic Abyssals were a good choice commercially as it's probably what most people want.

I've been in limbo ever since AoS. I got back into WFB just a few weeks before the 8th Edition rule books were taken off the shelves and replaced with those blue " AoS is Coming!" placards instead. Spent a bunch of money updating my DE army, and poof, things went haywire. I'm still on the fence about AoS, but instead of grumbling about it I did some research and found KoW. I absolutely love their Twilight Kin Sorceress model and the price is great. So I've decided I'm going to dip my toes into both systems. I'm going to keep up with AoS as the game matures and hopefully improves, AND I'm going to play KoW with those very same DE models, all the while supplementing my army as Mantic releases new Twilight Kin models. That way I get the value out of the money I've already spent on GW models, and I can put some money into a company I actually WANT to support, meaning Mantic...
Now I just need to find a group... or anyone in Southern California that plays KoW...
I mean... Look at this model and tell me it isn't PERFECT for a witch Elves themed army!

I am also in the category of spending a small fortune since moving from WFB to KoW, the only GW army I still had left were my Forge world chaos Dwarves...however through eBay I have now purchased a good proportion of the following 2000 point armies (mainly people selling GW armies cheap)
Herd
Elves
Nature
Mierce, Raging Heroes and privateer press have all gained, unfortunately Mantics miniatures remind me of some of GW efforts in the early 90's.
