A ton of Necrons, and a handle of Tyranids that will be packed up until the next codex.

Also looking at getting Eldar and Harlequins, and potentially Tzeentch units if Daemonkin is a thing.

Tau will probably get expanded to ~2k. Will probably add ~2k of IG artillery company and support elements by this time next year and probably a 1850 DE boat list the year after. Most of those existing forces will get exanded upon as well, and I'd like a World eaters force, and a green tide, and...

I currently only have a small army of Tyranids, but I'd love to get some Orks and I really want to start putting together some custom marines that I'm coming up with the fluff for.

With regards to the marines, what do I do about the codex? Am I correct in believing that there are not codecies for each chapter, and that all the chapters are in the main codex?

For the sake of simplicity and not turning this into a fluff thread, the marines I want to build are effectively an Iron Hands successor chapter, would all the info I needed for their stats be in the SM codex? And how would I know which units etc I was allowed?

I've considered SoB... Until I saw monopose super-expensive metal models with boobplate.

Nay thank thee.

The current marine dexes are:
-Dark Angels
-Space Wolves
-Blood Angels
-Codex: Space Marines

The first three are specific to the chapters in their name, and the fourth is for everyone else (including Iron Hands)
There is also an Iron Hands supplement, called Clan Raaukan, which you will likely want.

I own a pure Imperial Knights army consisting of 5 Imperial Knights. Setting up, and putting away the army is very quick and easy. Also the tjme it takes me to move, shoot, and melee is so quick my opponents often cant keep up. If WH40k had a turn clock, I would dominate and force opponents to run out of time.

Why is that not an option in your poll? IK are now an army. So many people ally atleast 1 into their army.

I wish all the knights where 35pts cheaper but what ever.

Thanks. I thought the supplement was just extra lore and scenarios but having looked into it I see that it's specific warlord traits and upgrades as well, so now I will definitely be needing it.

Over the years I have collected a smattering of armies for 40K. Most prominent are my Plague Marines, but my Imperial Space Marines (several different types including Dark Angels and Space Wolves) and massed infantry Astra Militarum come in a close second. In fact, I didn't jump the bandwagen (yet), so I don't have a dedicated Harlequins army (though I have a bunch of the old metal ones to form a single squad), and all the new Mechanicus stuff. Before that, I could answer the question "What armies for 40K do you have" with "all". Those were simpler times.

I own a slowly growing chaos space marine force with an allied daemon contingent which can stand alone in smaller games. I also own a small eldar force which was originally meant to be the beginnings of a dark eldar army but then The Duke disappeared and so I decided to convert them into my 2nd favorite pointy eared thingamajig: Warp Spiders.

Used to own both a large CSM and a massive Necron force but those got lost in a move across the US and I have since lost interest in Necrons no matter how entertaining of an idea it was to make them Dubstep Crons (I'm just not going to drop that kind of money on them yet again).

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Orks are my main army and the attention of most of my efforts. By far my favorite faction in the game and the most enjoyable models to work on.

Tau is my 2nd army and while I enjoy their models and fluff, im not as big a fan of their in game combat (shooting above all with no melee options). I love having lots of infantry and tanks on the board but Tau really needs some sort of unit that can get into close combat and not die horribly (lets see the "Empire" part of the Tau Empire).

GK + Inq being the latest faction and a fun army to play but I haven't really grown too attached to the fluff of the GK. I like making my own narrative and backstory to my force but its hard to do that with GK as they do not have successor chapters and are the "special snowflake" space marines so its hard to have a unique color scheme and story for them.

It's like Chaos Space Marines. It works perfectly well, as long as the players wait with working towards victory until the lists are done.

Once the players start to optimise their lists, thinking about what is good or not to take in the list, etc, Imperial Guard falls flat swiftly.

I have a pretty good collection of Dark Angels Space Marines. This is my primary army.
I also have a decent collection of Khorne Daemonkin. They make a fun and different secondary army.
I have a small collection of Tau stuff. I mostly got them because they look cool, but I can actually play them either as allies of the other two (yeah, right! ) or in small casual games.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
