Hey, thanks guys !
I'll try to figure out how to go on the blog section tomorrow, thank you for the tips.
Yes, I decided to paint the hands black, as they were gloves ^^
So, here is the second operator for the Cyclop Demolition Team.
He comes from the Command Squad, this is why he has an eagle on the shoulder, and none on the backpack.
Let me know what you think about him too !
Next will be there chimera.
EDIT: the base is black because I have not decided yet what to do.
The first guard had a base finished but it was his previous owner who did it (as I bought my guard from an other player, then I added the FW upgrades) Automatically Appended Next Post: Hi again,
just to warn you that I asked the moderation to move this thread to the blog section.
See you there !

Super excited! Glad it got moved here. Your operators look so cool. The red eyes, camo and the black really makes them sharp. Excited to see more. Glad you decided the black gloves. If I was handling a cyclopes I'd want gloves on.

Always happy to please you
I grabbed an old chimera, and began to work on it today.
It wasn't in a good condition, so I decided to fix it.
You can see on one picture that the protection of the caterpillar was badly glued, and the rear door was glued and couldn't be open.
So I removed the two, glued the protection again, take out the fuel tank, and I made it possible to close and open the door at will (same way I did for my command tank's hatches).
Oh, any idea of what to do with the Forge World sprues drops / falls (don't know the good English word, sorry) ?
Maybe some dragon's teeth.
I have plenty of this now^^
The fact the chimera is empty isn't a a problem, as it is supposed to transport the cyclops. It is even better.
Here are some pictures:

Yes Dragons teeth would be cool maybe save them for a display board?
You did a good job on that Chimera. I would not worry about it being empty either way. But you having the back open would be awesome for Cyclops!

Yes, there is a picture in Imperial Armour volume.2 with a cyclop going out of a chimera, is quite cool^^
I told you that the next thing would be a chimera, but in fact it is a third Leman Russ !
I just finished it before going to bed, so it may still have some work needed (the unit markings for example).
And a family picture (sorry, it's very dark).

Love the camouflage for both infantry and armored units. The red ballistic goggles look sharp on the Cadians. Can't wait to see the command squad and the Avenger painted up.

Real life made it impossible to paint the chimera, anyway I managed to begin two bases.
I painted several layers of stirland mud, then a wash of Agrax earthshade, then a drybrushing with bestial brown.
And eventually I used ardcoat to give this wet effect.
But as you can see, I failed with one base, there is too much bestial brown and too much ardcoat.
But I'm happy with the results.
It still needs something though, like grass.
What do you think ?

Definitely well worth the time you spent on the Chimera. Looks very well done, the Cyclops coming out of it is the cherry on top. Excited to see more!

Thanks
But there are some impacts that I have not completely managed to hide on the chimera, and it bother me (I had it for free).
Nevertheless I have three more unused coming this week !
I never played with this unit, neither with my armored battle group, in fact.
I will go in a tournament in the South of France in the end of November, I will play with it, and I hope to play before.
In my opinion, I will use this little guys to protect the rear of my tanks: with AV14, I think my opponents will try to go hand to hand with them.
So, if my cyclops follow them very close, my opponent's troups will be in hand to hand with them.
Close combat is really the weakness of the armored battle group without allies, as you don't have priest, blob etc...
So I will use the cyclops to protect my tanks from being charged.
I wish I was abe to put them in a drop pod but they have to be deployed with their operator, so you can only put one^^

I painted a sergeant today.
I won't show you every painted soldier, don't worry ^^
But I'm not sure about his plasma pistol, so this is why I specifically show you this one.
Any idea to make his pistol look less like a toy and more like a true weapon ? I didn't wash the gold, what paint do you think I should use for this ?

Today, I received my new chimeras.
And I was really disappointed.
I mean, the chimera is empty ! Even new. I thought it was because I bought a second handed (bargain ?) chimera that it was empty the last time. But no. GW didn't even made the interior of the chimera...
SERIOUSLY GW ?!
So I decided to make my own interior, and to fix this excess of laziness.
(nevertheless I had nothing more than cardboard and bitz, no plastic card).
I did like the first chimera, making the door opening and closing at will, and I did it for the hatches, too.
I managed to get a removable soldier too.
Thanks to the bits, I updated some of my tanks ( putting a fuel tank and a smoke launcher on my tank commander and some tools on the first chimera, to embellish it).
Here are the pictures:
Hope you like it

I'm back, and with good news !
I have finished to paint my first squad of veterans, today.
I'm sorry for the bad lightning, but it is late in France, I hope to take better pictures tomorrow with the light of the Sun.
Here you can see everything I painted for the army, and everything I still have to paint EXCEPT for two chimera (still in the box).
It's a 1500pts army.
Very disappointed by the luminosity (I still don't have a "light box" or whatever it is called in english^^ to take good pictures) but I want to share this with you
Don't look at them too closely!

All my freehands aren't the same size, unfortunately^^
This amazing topic is the one which really inspired me and made me began the Imperial Guard: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/558258.page.
Next, I'll paint their chimera (I have basecoated it black today), but after I will take a break to revise for my exams, so I'm sorry but the Avenger isn't for this month^^

Hi there,
with the exams, I didn't paint any "big" project and didn't finished the chimera, just a mini that was awaiting for months.
He is not an imperial guard, but I 'm curious to know what you think about it.
It is an attempt to paint better gold than I used to do, thanks to a tutorial on Dakka Dakka. I tried a kind of monochromatic, just adding the colours of his chapter on his tabard.
I did the snow with a mix of pva, white paint and baking soda, on styrofoam/polystirene to give him heigt.
Thanks to follow this blog !!!
EDIT: I'm a bit disappointed by the photos, the highlights on the armour are almost non-existent, while they are clearly visible on the mini.

I forgot to post the chimera, finally painted.
Not totaly finished (no battle damage, the projector isn't finished either) but it is close.
I haven't the time to do these little details for the moments, so here it is:
The first thing I'll do in January 2016 after my exams will be the command squad.
Happy holiday to all !

Hi guys !
I did some work, and I'll be able to show you the command squad tomorrow ! But today is just a little conversion on my chapter master (showed before in this thread).
I magnetized an arm with a storm shield.
I think it's ended pretty well.

Hi Dakka
I'm here again, with good news: I eventually painted my Avenger !
So, keep in mind I bought it second handed, so some parts where missing/converted (but I had it for nuts).
I choose a completely different paint sheme, as it is part of the Navy and not the regiment, and I thought a "forest" camo wouldn't have been goodon it.
I finally opted for a classical grey with some distinctive yellow strip, it look a bit like a BF-109 during battle of Britain.
I added a half-burried barrel to the base, in order to make it less monotonous.
I used transfers to put some markings on it, but I haven't mat varnish and the store was out of stock... So don't worry, I'll be able to mat varnish it and the transfers won't be so abvious anymore
The pilots were missing, so I had to make my own pilots, pretty happy with the results :
I hope you like it !

So, today saw the first battle of my battle group.
With a friend of mine? who is beggining a tyranid army, we did a 850 Maelstrom and a 950 Eternal.
Results are....mixed.
The first battle was the tank commander, two stock leman russes, a veteran squad and a cyclops team, against a venomtrhope, 2 zoanthropes, 1 winged tyrant, 2 squads of 10 termagaunts, 2 squads of 10 gargoyles, 2 squads of 10 horma and a dakkafex.
I have been CRUSHED !
The combination of venom, invul 3+ (zoan) and feel no pain (psychic powers) made it very difficult to kill the synapse creatures.
The tank commander has been especially disappointing.
Due to the infamous combination explained above, he killed only 1 venom.
The leman russes weren't that hard to kill, even from the front with "warp blast".
I badly used the cyclops, putting the chimera too much forward and the tyran destroyed the chimera with the operators, and the only cyclop who assaulted the tyranids didn't succeed to killed the venom (that feel no pain is really annoying !)
For the second battle, I used my tank commander, 1 leman russes, 2 veterans squads, and the avenger.
Defeat again, cover + invu didn't allowed me to kill his synapse creatures, and I haven't enough firepower to kill all the little gaunts.
The avenger was destroyed by a carnifex who sprinted and the shooted ("onslaugt" psychic power I guess) even jinking :(
the veteran did pretty well, the two demolition charges saw use, it was pretty cool.
At last, the tank commander killed something big: the carnifex.
However, I'm glad to see that all the weaknesses revealed today are planned to be solved by my final list: a punisher to add some saturation,a trojan a=to add fiability to the leman russ, and a commissar tank to add either ignore cover, or another instant death template.
Now that I think about it, doesn't a hit with which has twice or more strength than the toughness of the figurine negates feel no pain ? Because it would have made things A LOT easier, as he rolled really hot his FNP
EDIT: I eventually found my rulebook, and FNP doesn't work against instant death and strength the double or more than toughness of the model.
Always useful to know the rules BEFORE a game ^^
