I've never owned a playstation because I absolutely can't stand the controller. The layout is just terrible, while the Xbox fits perfectly in hand. But, at least it's not a nintendo controller.

If you like 360 controllers you better like the GameCube controller as it literally has the exact same layout.

Nintendos systems are entirely based on gimmicks like being hand-helds, touchscreens, cameras, 3D, motion controls and the WiiU's tablet thing. The systems themselves are pretty lame and the games are all only average, with a select few being good enough to actually warrant buying a Nintendo system for the exclusives. Talking things like Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Smash Bros, etc.

Plus, their exclusives amount to the same games they released thirty years ago, released over and over again.....

I could connect it to a large television, and I sometimes do to watch movies on it. I'm just not fond that fond of gaming rigs.

PS4 is the only console with any exclusives or "get it firsts" I want in the pipe.

I love playing the same games remade over and over for each Nintendo system

Though the motion control with the Wii systems is interesting I don't feel it often adds all that much most of the time.

Personally my PS3 is essentially a blu ray player, my wii and wii you just look pretty on the shelf. My 360 is played a lot.

When Fallout 4 ships, my XB1 will also ship

I have a PC too... but I can't use it for work if I hook it to the TV as my wife will want to watch TV or play one of the consoles. I don't like playing games on it as it is in another room from where my wife is watching TV or playing games; a PC is antisocial. My wife and I regularly play console games together, or sit on the sofa together while one plays games and the other reads or does something else.

I've never been able to do that with a PC... which makes PC gaming pointless for me... not that I don't PC game when the wife is away

2. Get HDTVs to connect PCs to.
3. Play MMOs together.

PC isn't going to let me play Persona 5 and of currently announced releases across all platforms it's the game I'm looking forward to the most. There are games that come out for consoles that don't for PC. Those games may not run to your tastes but you can't call consoles interchangeable and pointless . They aren't interchangeable at least not yet.

If the problem is you can't play games cause your wife is hogging the TV, I consider that a domestic problem rather htan a problem for any particular gaming platform.

Glad i can drop you some helpful advice.

The XB1 does have some neat features and with Windows 10 coming out should be even better. DX12 should assist with the XB1s lack of oomph from what I have read.

I have a PS4 myself and am very happy with it. I had the first XBOX then went to the PS3 from that and haven't looked back.

If playing on the same TV as the one your misses watches is an issue I got a bundle with PSNow, and where I haven't made use of the store, I have used the streaming function where I can stream my PS4 downstairs to a tv upstairs and still play my games. You can do the same on Windows 10 and XB1 as well.

I'm a PC gamer myself, but I'm definitely thinking of getting a PS4 after I get a new PC. It's more powerful than the XB! (IIRC), and it actualy has exclusives I care about. Although I wish exclusives didn't exist, but I guess Sony has to make it's money somehow. It doesn't help that Japan's PC market is pretty much non-existent, so it's hard to get a lot of JPRGs, what with the PC ports often coming out much later, and Japan isn't really known for a history of good ports.

More, most of the the games that we have on console are games we can play together or at least are fun to watch. If I want to use my PC to do work, or play any of the PC games I have (the vast majority of which are single player and/or my wife is not interested in) and need to tie up the TV to do so then that is a limitation of a particular gaming system

No, it's not. That's a limitation of your particular setup. If your wife isn't interested in playing any particular game with you and wants to watch tv instead, then you can't play them, either. I know I've lived with people who, at specific times of the day, DEMANDED to have access to a TV to watch specific shows, and wouldn't just let people play games on said TV at those times-- no matter if they were console or PC.

If you want JRPGs why not get a second hand PSVita? Practically all they make on it now are JRPGs.

PS4 for me, partly because I get a lot more out of PS Plus having both a Vita and PS3 so I effectively get more value from having "free games" in addition to being more invested in Sony's IP from being on the PS3 the last generation. It has a good balance of AAA games like Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Bloodborne and now Gravity Rush 2 which are all exclusives I'm into, and it luckily has the indies for couch co-op as well like Towerfall Ascension and Helldivers that gives it the versatility that IMO, puts it over the Xbone. Also the design at least takes up a lot less space (especially given the lack of a power brick) which is important for my living situation.

I feel like the PS4 probably has a stronger library, but the dual-shock controller is terrible compared to the 360/One controller (thumb stick lay-outs make me hate life).

I'll probably get a One, use it to play Gears and Halo with my friends and never touch the console otherwise. I do most of my gaming on PC anyway.

Well... Halo's never been interesting. It might've been, once upon a time, but Microsoft saw to that.

And Uncharted 2 is probably one of the best PS3 games ever made (Uncharted 3 weren't bad neither!), so Uncharted 4.

Of course I won't get to play either of them as I'm a PC gamer. I'd love Uncharted on PC... man that'd be amazing.
