Nice doors!

Apparently the folk watching my p&m blog want Orcs and so orcs they shall have. I'll draw up a list and see what kind of monthly output that will require.

I am going to jump in on this too.

Going to do the Zombicide Black Plague main box. If I finish it I might move onto the expansion or other things from the Kickstarter when they eventually turn up.

A Unit will be a single row of Zombies from the box or a Hero/Necromancer. Depending on the effort they I may end up doing a few zombies and a hero at the same time or Multiple Heros. A single row of Zombies consists of 2 Runners, 2 Fatties and 6 normal zombies.

In the spoilered photo is a row of painted zombies, beneath this layer is six more rows of the same zombies. I will be trying to get at least one of those done a month.

Spoiler:

I will also be working on the Bat family for BMG and other stuff like Samurai and the Punisher but that wont be part of this challenge.

I think I'll join, waaaay too many half painted infinity miniatures, I'll work on my Shock Army of Acontecimento and when I'm left without minis I'll either work on my Yu Jing or drastically change subject and work on my WWII Italian Airborne.

My Speed freaks for Epic would be a reasonable entry from me although it may take longer than 6 months depending on when I can get stuff from Ebay. Plus there are about 100 vehicles....

I'm not going to be able to paint 'units' as I will be getting individual models from all over the place rather than discrete tabletop formations but I could probably manage a few bits and pieces per month.

I am currently painting these guys.

Looks like I've been coerced into working on my KOW army instead. Probably starting/finishing my Terracotta Army, but still need to decide which army rules to use.

Options are, dwarves, elves and goblins. Undead is possible, but my main opponent is undead and switches between the two rules. Must also keep in mind these guys are small 20mm true scale, so that's about the only reason I chose goblinz as one of the options. I think I'm leaning towards elves as they will allow me to use dragons.

I think Grimdork is aiming for 2000points, so that will also be my target for this 6 month stretch. Possibly a showdown at the end as we live a couple hours apart, but we might be able to get a battle in at the end, or once it's all done.

I'm likely to be putting this in both blogs, but I'm starting a Tau army that I'm doing as part of a Tale of Two Gamers with a friend of mine (both moved down South from Sheffield, both have far more money than we did last year), so I'm up for joining in.

Not sure how much I can get done this month though, as it ordered my models from Wayland Games, and they've apparently still not been dispatched -_-

Though I'm possibly going to cycle into town tomorrow and pick up a pack of Stealth Suits.

Well, I said I *could* make 2000 points. There's no guarantee I can pull it off in time

I'm sure we can figure something out.

Ok that was faster than I expected. Aside from finishing off the bases I've got the squad of Karist Troopers done (pic is zoomable in the gallery). I based the colour scheme on the studio one but made it darker and grubbier and replaced the bright purple cybel energy with a sort of turquoisey colour (probably not fluff friendly but I think it looks good).

The max squad size for these guys is 5 but with 2 different special weapon options. This group is one Quintarch (the squad leader), 3 regular troopers, 1 trooper with Radwave Emitter and 1 trooper with Ripper Grenade Launcher. So I can field a full size squad with either special weapon or up to 4 with the regular Pulse Carbine. The Quintarch has had a bit of minor conversion work done to differentiate him from the regular troopers. I shaved off the crotch armour (that sounds painful) and replaced it with a spare loincloth from the Kaddar Nova sprue.

I'm not going to reveal my full basing plans just yet as I'm waiting for the stuff I need to be delivered (this week I hope!) but I will say that it involves my first use of tufts for bases.

I guess I ought to figure out something else to paint this month.

Managed to get my Command Squad fully painted tonight, except basing. I also primed my 2 Biker HQs (Librarian and Chaplain) and the Attack Bike before my primer ran out on me. I'll get pics of the almost finished Command Squad tomorrow, and hopefully start work on the black armour of the Bikers. Can't finish the Command Squad or prime the rest before the end of the week though, as I'm not going into my local GW until then and I ran out of Astrogranite on Friday night finishing up my 30k Dark Angels.

Those markets look solid, probably more to my aesthetic taste than the epirians or something. The nice paint job helps a lot too!

Cool to see some Medge in here as well!

I got my big fat dragon finished - dead happy with him. Just woke my fiancee up to show her:

One word of warning for others attempting this guy- perhaps leave him unassembled before painting or get him off his base - getting into all the nooks and crannies is a pain!

Thanks, painting that squad was unusually fast for me. No idea why, it usually takes me about a week to paint a single model! Though I will admit to keeping the paint scheme very simple (in order; base colours, wash, dry brushing, final details).

I said I was going to paint something else and I've made up my mind. Getting the basic infantry out of the way for both factions in the ME boxset is probably a good idea (save the fun stuff for later) so next up are the Epirian Contractors. I've replaced the original heads with some from Pig Iron. I'm thinking of going with a police/security forces paint scheme and I think those heads suit that idea quite well.

I'll be priming them shortly, however there is something much more important to do first. Lunch, can't expect me to paint when I'm hungry.

EDIT: Dat dragon! Great work Da Boss

Wow, the different helmets really help that unit out. Seeing how easy those models are to fix, I almost regret not ordering any.

Yeah, the heads make a world of difference. Panic has a cool Doom Epirians squad over in the Medge forum.

I don't think my Epirians will be anywhere near as cool as Panic's Doom squad. Though I do have him to thank for getting getting the idea of headswaps into my head as it were. Seeing his work got me thinking about what I could do to make my Epirians look different.

Daft thing is I actually like the basic models, I think the Captain Scarlet with huge shoulder pads look works with the right paint job. However I like my minis to be a bit different if possible.

Don't know if it's totally kosher but I'll throw my own hat in the ring.
I got quite a bit of AoS/KoW/9th Age Dwarves to build and paint, that should take 6 months.
For this month I'll say I have to get 5 Warriors with two handed weapons done, that should be a good amount.

I have a fortnight away from the internet and you spring this on me Az. Would love to partake, maybe Alpha Legion or to finish off my Skitarii/Ad Mech force...does it matter if I do more than one unit a month?

@Nick - those heads relaly improve those figures no end. Much nicer look than the square hats. Looking forward to how they start to turn out. The Karists have come up nicely also. Do you intend to add any texture to their bases?

@AUGmaniac - No problem mate - I'll add you in.

@Thraxas - also not a problem. It's just trying to set a minimum to help people get stuff painted. I'm going to attempt to do a unit each for two different armies myself since I couldn't choose which one to do.,

I'm in...maybe I can break my perfect track record of never delivering on a Dakka paint challange!

I'll be working on INFINITY.
Starting with my Haqqislam force and terrain. I have several other factions lined up so plenty to keep me busy.

First month (January) goal is to:
A: prep and prime my initial 9-10 man 200 pt list and settle on a colour scheme.
B: paint three members of that list in that scheme
C: complete assembly on one of the buildings I've started working on for my Arabian Bazaar/Port City table.

6 Month goal would be a full 4x4 playable Infinity table and three 300 pt lists worth of models painted.

Hell I will Jump in.
Me and my Girlfriend are getting into 40k. I am a old vet from 4th, she is very green.... well purple, She is going nids with hive fleet leviathan.

I have a old Space marine army I got when I was 10. It has been with me through 4th and was my first army. Its Very sentimental to me. It is this bright green with a odd wash and I have never been able to replicate it. on top of this the army has become damaged and needs to be repaired/converted.
I hate to undo the work done by another painter but the time has come I must make this army my own.
so
1. I will need to strip my models and confirm the new paint scheme I want to use. I have an idea but I have to see it first before I commit to anything.
2. After everything is stripped I need to begin to repair and convert units EX: Land raider's side sponsons have been damaged landspeeder lost its little doors.
3. I will be trying my best to really detail every space marine as I want every model to be above table top or at least pushing my own skill to it limit. (I am really rusty but I have been really looking at tutorials for the past few weeks)

For This month I will be working strictly on the color scheme. so I will be painting a small combat squad each marine with a variation of the color scheme. I will post the painted marines and then take a day or two not looking at the models then I will come back and look at them and the one i like best will be the one I use. I may make an article on the the full process such as stripping, painting color schemes, and all of the work that goes along with this huge project.

I will post only painting stuff here.

Side note: while not important to modeling strictly I need to complete their fluff as it plays a role in how this army is built.
I might do some work on some AM but I want to finish my SM first. I have about 3-4k points of space marines I need to paint so I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Here's my test/proof model for the first regiment of morax.

Needs sealed and based...I'll probably try to be a bit neater on the others and maybe look into some additional weathering and rust. The default plan is to mount 12 on clear acrylics and make a movement tray with slots for them all. Ideally I will find a way to leave the majority removable but fit more than. 12/20. The more I glue directly to the base the more I can fit on but orcs are too useful for RPGS and skirmish games to permanently glue them all down.

Some good looking work developing already from people. Da Boss's green dragon is probably my favourite so far. I am soon to get my act together and paint something for January (I promise, just need to knock this final High Elf dragon off and I will get into the Nids).

Thought since I am running out of days in this month I would work out a test scheme for the army and smash out a couple of groups of Termagants. Save the tasty big bugs for later.......
