No they couldn't. Horus gave the Custodes the order to kill (which Horus deliberately did to turn the TSons traitor.) If I steal a cucumber and the police hunt me and try to kill me for it, and in response I leg it and/or fight back, am I a traitor?

Horus gave the Prospero interception force new orders on the way there. They were told to exterminate, not capture.

after reading "A Thousand Sons" I couldn't help but feel sorry for them, because they were just trying to stay alive and even went to warn the Emperor and probably thought any damage they will cause would be minor if it stopped the heresy becoming what it ended up as.

Unfortunately... "just as planned"....

My planned AL army are going to be ambiguous.

I like the idea that my Sons of Horus exist just before the fall. Things are changing, it's being reflected in their attitudes and in their livery. Spikes are there, fetishes are there but they are still seeming loyal with something sinister lurking just below the surface.

I'm setting my 4th legion force in the period just before the angel exterminatus book. We're not warped yet, but still shell shocked from olympia and istvaan. Trying to make lil trophies made of razorwire ect. to show them changing
