[edit] As a side note/question, if Azyr Comp is still being kept current then I would suggest that to non-GHB newcomers since Auticus has, IMO, a better handle on game balance than SCGT.
Thanks for the compliment. Sadly Azyr was sunset as once official points came out that was pretty much the death blow. Even my local group refused to use anything but official points so there was no use in maintaining the azyr project if no one was going to use it.
It was a great experiment / experience though.

Basically, I get that a large chunk of players need points or at least some guideline. We had that with the player comps and even if the points didn't match it was some sort of guideline. But need for that was short-lived for us. My best games have been where we keep adding some cool model or unit on the table and victory is a low priority over cinematic fun. But narrative games or even scenarios (AoS is for scenarios to really shine) give you a good idea of what to bring.

Agreed. The other factions in Death are much more bare-boned.
@ OP I have played around 40 games of AoS. I manage 2-3 games a month on average.

I feel like I've had this conversation recently and sent a player map to someone. That's if you want to, anyway. With TGA community now they're coming out of the woodwork. Yup that was me, had the mix up finally fixed for now. I looked at the link but everything is a bit far. I lost my job recently so don't really have the gas money to travel now.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Anyway, if you are looking for players I might be able to help. If no need, sorry. But good to make your acquaintance anyway.
Always looking for more players. Trying to build up our group after 8th kinda killed it.

I played 4 game, with the point system
i'm amazed how armies who look completely inbalanced are manageable. With a classic stormcast army (2 unit of liberators, 1 unit of retributor, 1 unit of prosecutors, 1 venator and two celestant ) i was able to fight on equal ground armies with 2 bloodthirster, 6 stormvermin or 10 blightking+great unclean. Some armies who would have been invincible in 8th. The point cost are really well balanced from what i saw. And scenario make even the weakest "bashing army" a good chance to win

I've only played 2 games. 1 was before my mates and I bought any models so that we could try out the rules before committing, and we played using scraps of paper (of appropriate size... ).
The second was with the start collecting packs we each bought, I had flesh eaters, and the other two had skellies and beast men.

I feel you, that has been my problem too, getting my friends to give it a try, hard...after all that the response is usually "eff this PoS" and moving on to warma or mali.

About 4 games played 3 where guilt fed games where my friend bought a bunch of models and no one would play him. So I did the game is really boring almost as bad as 40k where you place your models down and roll for 45 minutes then are done. Very little strat needed other then Forward.
In short would not recomend at all. Talked several people out pf wasting cash thank god.
1: it is a game of monsters and gw sells them at 150$ yay.....
2: cant get anyone to play a second game.
3: cant get people to take the game seriously when handing them the pamphlet.
4: The death names all sound like things from a sex ed book. Moaninghiet, boner shakers, flesh lickers just no.
5: The sifi fantasy sounds like it was written by a fanboy rather then trying to give a setting it read poorly, Ted the sigmarine is like totaly awesom and did cool stuff....... Yay.
6: the game will die out soon and all your money will be trash like the tomb king players or skaven players. Remember all those zombies ghouls and slaves you painted well we can sell you a gw garbage can to store them in.

We have had to basically remove monsters from the game altogether to get even passing interest. Cost is less than before, but now its more an upfront holy hell kind of thing. guys are just not wanting to spend the money on an aesthetic they dont like. The rules were not the main thing that drove them away (but they certainly didnt help) it was the fluff and models of the "new" AoS lines. one of my buddies is harshing hard on the "hair products" necessary for the fyreslayers to leave their lodge to fight.

I'm definitely sympathetic to those folks who can't stand their new models' looks. I think literally everything released since AoS looks awful. Ebay, swap meets, and trading is all I'm up for.
And the game is pretty fun - though like the folks above me, almost no gamer I know (of whom about 5-6 are minis players) is even slightly interested in this game. Kings of War? No problem! Warmachine? No problem! Song of Blades and Heroes? Great! Age of Sigmar?
Age of Sigmaaaar...?
