Raven Guard, first army way back in early HH/Epic. Still have the little ones and a full 40k Battle Co of pods and packs.

Sisters, my mech army. Several of them in fact. For riding around while starting fires. She who bails, fails.

Iron Warriors, grunts and fortifications. Whats not to love? Soon to be adding a renegade Knight.

Melee Tzeentch Daemons, with Khorne puppies for when I feel the need to see that "what the hell is going on?" look on my opponents face.

Bretonnia, who doesnt love a lost cause!

My dark eldar, from before they got the update in 5th they were either stomped or did the stomping, post 5th ed update, reavers were my best friends, now with the 6/7th ed codex and edition razorwings are the new jazz, the models are beautiful, much more predatory than the eldar and sleek and powerful, but above all, lots of dakka and 0 armour.

Orks because I said so ya git

But in all seriousness 40k can be an intense game, and Orks are in my opinion the one race that will somehow manage to keep things from getting out of hand and making sure people have a good time. Ive never even really considered playing anything else much

My Tzeentch daemons, it helps that I can (and do) play them in fantasy too (I'm more into fantasy, always have been, but 40k is just so much easier to find games for).

The way the army is designed to force you to resort to some kind of trickery makes it fun, but is not captured by the mortal Tzeentch followers.
I really like the fluff for chaos (the reflection that happens to be dark) and what Tzeench stands for (rather "is made of"?) appeals to me.

2nd Edition Eldar.

I don't even play modern 40K. In the mid-90s I was a teenager and assembled my first Eldar army (after buying a few boxes of Space Marines...as every kid does). I developed it slowly - painfully, until the very early 2000's when I ditched it after 3rd ed/4th ed turned me off. I ebay'ed all of it, and stopped playing GW. I have never played another army (unless borrowing a friends during a big game etc.)

Fast forward to 2016. Got the bug to re-build a 2nd edition Eldar army now that I'm adult and my hobby skills have improved as has my budget and time-management. Have painted approximately 3000-3500 points just this year, essentially building the army I wish I'd had as a teenager.

I'm assembling a small Space Wolves force for photo ops and to aid my 9 year old nephew's Space Marines (we play Kiddiehammer).

So, Eldar. They're what got me into the game in the first place. I'd picked up a few boxes of Space Marines but didn't even know it was a game - I was using them as toy soldiers when I was 10-11 or so. It wasn't until I discovered the Eldar 2nd ed. codex that I started to realize this was a game.

Eldar - started there and will stay there. I was a little surprised coming out of my small group in po-dunk nowhere to find out that I played the most hated army in all of 40k, but it does not make me love them less.

I love painting every aspect squad separately, figuring out a different color scheme for each shrine to the point where my army is very much a "skittles - paint the rainbow" kind of deal. I love the lithe beauty of the models and the quiet danger it hides. I love their fluff - how they are all drawn to explore and understand every emotion and feeling but still control their impulses rigidly and unforgivingly.

The only thing that might be able to rival my CWE would be if GW released Hrud, but let's save that for if that event ever actually came to pass, which I am rather certain it will not.

My Khantonian 13th Imperial Guard Regiment. I love the theme they have, and I love the image of mere mortal men standing and holding the line in a universe where most of there opponents are genetically engineered super soldiers, fungal based war machines, bio-weapons gone wrong and a host of other horrors. Even amidst all of this, humanity is kept safe by the hearts of mere mortal men who fight on when all hope is lost.

Deathskullz iz da best and most proppa of all da Orks.

- Goffs are too stupid to appreciate fine dakka or good loot.
- Bad Moonz have too many teef for there own good, proppa Orks loot, not buy their dakka.
- Blood Axes... dem boyz just ain't right in da ead.
- Snakebites are the hillbillies of the Orks. Wouldn't know a rokkit from a power klaw.
- Bad Moons have good taste in trukks but too hopped up on red paint and engine fumes to realize that all the good looted bits fell off da wagon when they ramped it over a crater. Mediocre
There is no way I could pick any clan other than Deathskulls and will never change.

Giving up on the Orks is an impossibility and would sooner write my own codex then shelf my Orks because I felt they where too bad to play. I do play other armies which I enjoy greatly but I will always see myself as an Ork player.

Dark angels, i just like the way their legion is structured, its probably one of the most versatile armies in the game.

Having very good fast attack units, decent elite choices, a solid school of pyker powers unique to them, and the lions blade strike force is very good to have.

To many unpainted models to count.

Same for me. I started in 5th, but the World Eaters were the legion that drew me to Chaos, they were my first army. Never considered any other legion when I started 30k. Kharn is my favorite character in the entire setting. I even have their legion symbol tattooed on my chest. Sometimes I'll dabble in daemons, sometimes I play Tyranids, but the one army I'll come back to every time, without fail, is my World Eaters, whether that be in the CSM codex or substituted in Daemonkin.
