An army you will play, Even if you got other armies, No mather what hapens to it, Even if it gets hated, If it gets super strong or super weak, No mather what you'll stick to the army because you love some apsect of it?
For me, I play Tau, They where my first army back in 5th edition and even though they where weak, I loved them, Because I love their fluff and models. And I stuck to them, They got updated and got realy strong, Now people hate them even more then they did before and I wish they where a bit weaker so they wouldent get as much hate, But I still play them. And even if they once more fall down and become much weak, I'l still stick to them.

Probably my SM. Even if my Crimson Fists do have the worst detachment in AoD, even if our unique relics are more or less worthless and other detachments are more interesting, I'll stick to my Spanish marines because their fluff says it all really.

Tau. I love the designs, I love how they are the closest to a modern military, love the suits, love the auxiliaries, and basically everything about them. A band wagoner would not buy a Ta'unar since in the ITC they are not all that great due to grav heavy counter.

I have no specific army but I do have a specific unit: Obliterators.
These are mutant, daemon super soldiers so corrupted by the warp that their flesh and armor are basically silly putty. Silly Putty that can kill you.
I'm also one of the few people who likes the look of the models. They just cling to me. These are one unit that I will find any excuse to field on the battlefield, and it helps that they've so far remained one of the more viable chaos units over the editions even with repeated nerfs.

Space Marines.
I know I will do others chapters / legions, and that I will still play / collect them, even if they suffer from the Space Wolfes wolfy wolf symptom, and become stupid caricatures of their own chapter (I will just have to buy older stuff).
So many possibilities, so much fluff, so many tactics !

Orks, cuz they're fun, amazing models and certainly Ork players don't expect a crushing victory every game. Or, we do, cuz Orks is da best, but we just rationalize every battle as an Ork win cuz fightin' is fun.

CSM.
The whole tragedy and irony of the horus heresy and its aftermath drew me to 40k and specifically csm due to rule of cool. Space marine are badass but csm take that and raise it metal status.
However I will say that this is only true for Legionnaires. If GW abandons that idea and goes full renegades marines as far as the tabletop is concerned, then I'm done with 40k in a tabletop sense. They just come off as weak willed to me. There is some legitimacy to the legions' betrayal, whereas renegade chapters usually just fall to temptations or curses.

Indeed. Legionnaries are special, they have a great tragedy. Renegade on the other hand... Maybe GW shouldn't have invented renegade at all, in fact

Sisters of Battle. Of all the 40K armies, they are the one that (I feel) best reflects the core 40K aesthetic. They really feel appropriate to have cruising to battle in a kilometre long Gothic space cathedral.

My Dark Angels. I've got other armies, and I usually play with my Necrons (unless it's a small point game, where I like to bust out a Demi Company), but the First just keep adding up. It's the only army I have that I have really dedicated time to giving personality to. Even my Deathwatch guys, each squad is led by someone from the First legion (although they're not all Dark Angels). My Blackshield is a Fallen. Heck, I've got a Cypher model and a squad of Fallen Angels done up, and I don't own the rules, or play chaos at all anymore.

I'll always have my Imperial Guard Army from when I first started. Characters include:
Lord Commissar Brannigan, responisble for calling my tanks and guardsmen cowards when they explode
Sergeant Seago, who pulled the arm off a Khorne Beserker and runs around with his chainsword, burning heretics with his house rule allowed flamer
Malcolm, the sniper who has only one confirmed kill, that being a zooming Helldrake
Soulless One, Guardsman, a ginger
The World's Worst Ultramarine, a Space Marine with a lasgun who has a special rule stating he was drummed out of the Ultramarines for gross incompetence, and counts as a Guardsman for rules purposes.

Dark angels, I started them back at the end of 2nd edition / beginning of 3rd. I loved them, the flavor, the three armies in one, how viable deathwing were solo (two ac per squad!!). I stuck with them through 4th and 5th, saw their glory in 6th, and once again saw options taken away in 7th (no pure dw army... wtf gw, do you even read your own fluff?).
I'll collect them, display them, and occasionally play them as long as I'm alive.
When I need a break, I always have my deamons, chaos, grey knights, carcharodons, deathwatch, or templars.

Likewise. I love my stubborn Spaniards. I especially hate that our AoD detachment doesn't allow us to use Pedro Kantor. Hopefully that gets fixed, because I would totally make use of it otherwise. Also, bite your tongue on the Relics and take a gander at the Bones of Osrak. One of the best relics in the game, especially when paired with something like the Librarius Conclave (reroll failed psychic tests and pass said psychic tests on a 2+).

Dark Eldar. First army in 1995. Unforgiving of mistakes (especially 1995-2005 ish) but very satisfying when the blades slid home together.
Unit wise, biovores. Always disruptive of my enemies' plans, out of proportion to their points value.

I started my Dark Eldar this edition and enjoy them far more than I ever enjoyed my Dark Angels, so I don't think that GW can do anything bad enough to them to make me not play them.
Maybe if they go out of their way to make them literally unplayable, but that's the only way I'll stop playing DE at this point.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

Imperial guard. I've played them since 4th edition. Other armies have come and gone but I still have my guard.
Oh, and my world eaters. I've played them in 40k since 3rd. I don't have my 40k army anymore but I play them in 30k and use the same models for 40k too (not sure if this one counts).

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
