I give it a 5 out of 10. I am already just flipped through the mag so quickly I haven't even read an article in it. I already lost the interest.
Maybe the fonts are just too small for me now, but it just seems to crammed now, to over done. Right now I am really glad I didn't get a subscription for it. Will see with issue 3 but I am already "who cares" anymore.
I actually prefer the weekly release over this over crammed mumble jumble of a magazine now.
I guess once we actually get some Chapter Approved articles my opinion might change, but I don't think I got my monies worth with issue 2. Comic looks like a joke and haven't bothered reading it. After than, just left a ho hum taste about the rest of the magazine.

I think 5 out of 10 is Amazing, considering you didn't actually read it.
I give your White Dwarf review 3 out of 10. I actually read the whole thing, but I'm wishing I had spent that time doing something else.
Also, may I suggest that if you fall into the "who cares" anymore catergory, you could probably skip reviewing future issues.

Completely unrelated (maybe), but perhaps there's something that's changed in how things in the US/Canada are shipped. I say this because in the not too distant past, when I placed a webstore order in my local GW, it would arrive literally a week later (order on Saturday, receive next saturday... and we're not talking pre-orders, but regular stuff like Vostroyans and Whirlwinds)... now, I placed an order this passed Friday, and it's not scheduled for delivery until Monday.

Maybe more than you think...
There's more ways to play than "this is point values, let's play". Our 40k games are rarely if ever anymore to agreed point limits.

Still don't have it, a week after it was in stores. When I contacted customer service about it, they said that they don't mail them out until the Friday they are released, and they are mailed from New York. They don't consider the issue "late" unless it arrives later than the following Saturday.
So basically, you can expect to always get your subscription copy about a week after you could have bought it in the store if you are in the US.
I will probably ask for a refund and just pick up the issues that look good in my local store.
By the way, they changed the description on the website. It used to say they mailed it early so it should arrive on or before the release date (which was obviously not true). Now it says: "We endeavour to get White Dwarf to all subscribers on or before publication date, but the world's a big place and we cannot guarantee this."
Frankly, that is also a lie, because they can't possibly expect an issue mailed on the publication date to reach subscribers that same day.

Oh we are back to having a differing opinion we must shame people now eh? When did Dakka become like Warseer? I guess when most of us got banned on Warseer we came here with the same bad manner.
That said, this is a thread about opinions correct? This is about what you think of issue number 2 correct? So if I can't be bothered reading the magazine, that should tell you there it's lacking for me. That is like watching a movie, and leaving within the first 10 minutes, and saying the movie is bad, how can "you review it without watching it". That speaks of the movie how it can't hold the persons attention or just bad because they walked out in the cinema or changed the channel on the TV.
Same here, after reading a few pages, I didn't bother continuing with it. I think that is perfectly valid when TALK and DISCUSSING on a forum.
Then again, we are nerds and geeks and being anonymous and faceless and not in person, we feel empowered with our nerd weiners when belittling other people and shaming them.
Tis a shame Dakka has become whineseer now when people have differing opinions.

No, we want to know how you can critique something without having the full picture.
When did Dakka become like Warseer? I guess when most of us got banned on Warseer we came here with the same bad manner.
I haven't come from Warseer, nor has Dakka become Warseer. You are the only person being brash and impolite here.
That said, this is a thread about opinions correct? This is about what you think of issue number 2 correct? So if I can't be bothered reading the magazine, that should tell you there it's lacking for me. If you can't be bothered to watch a film throughout, why would you try to score and discuss it to other people who may be interested in watching it? What if the film got better halfway through? Even if it was rubbish and boring in the first half, it should be at least fair to critique the second half if it was better, or even worse. However your review of that film would not be giving the full picture because you stopped watching it.
I know scores are made up numbers, but even 5/10 is quite funny. Surely it'd be a 1 or 2/10 if you didn't read it, right?
Same here, after reading a few pages, I didn't bother continuing with it. I think that is perfectly valid when TALK[ing] and DISCUSSING on a forum.
All opinion is valid and welcome, unless it is deliberately harmful or outrageous, which yours it not. However, most people would consider your judgement to be an unreliable measure, considering you haven't completed or at least summarised the thing you're critiquing.
Then again, we are nerds and geeks and being anonymous and faceless and not in person, we feel empowered with our nerd weiners when belittling other people and shaming them.
Talk about yourself mate, not me
Aren't you basically shaming me for asking how your judgement can be accurate?
Tis a shame Dakka has become whineseer now when people have differing opinions.
You are the only person making a fuss here; while adam could potentially have phrased his response a little better, I simply asked how someone can provide an accurate recommendation/warning about a certain medium without breaking it down, or at least giving it a brief impression after skimming the articles.

Solid enough 7/10 for me, passed a couple of hours reading it. Again like I said for issue September's issue - solid but unspectacular.
Blanchitsu was good again, enjoyed the painting articles, battle report was good.
I'd like a bit more generic hobby stuff i.e. focus on conversions, scratch builds, terrain etc but I imagine that's pie in the sky thinking alas.
Ultimately again, it's better than the 12 month run prior to going weekly and it's giving me more than Visions or the weekly releases did.

So the GW website blog is about White Dwarf again.
It’s specifically about next month’s issue, but it’s of relevance to the last couple of months’, so I’ll put this here. Original: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/blog/blog.jsp
Needless to say, there’s a ton of other great features which you read about below, but what I really want to talk about this month is battle reports. We know that these are some of your favourite parts of the magazine, and the response to the battle reports in the first two issues of the new monthly White Dwarf has been great. One thing that’s very obvious, though, is that everyone has their own favourite kind of battle report. Some people love having maps, others less so. Some people much prefer a dramatic, story-like narrative to the battle report while others want to hear the thoughts and tactical insights of the players. The thing is, battle reports can take many different shapes, so what we try to do is make use of some or all of these elements – if they suit the game in question.
What? What?
White Dwarf hasn’t tried to make use of properly legible maps, serious tactical discussion by players, or narrative in battle reports for years.
Have none of these elements suited the games in question in all that time? Really? How were those years’ worth of battle reports unsuited to those elements? To maps?!
What utter, blatant, drivel.
Last month’s battle report, for instance, saw the Deathwatch and the Genestealer Cults – two quite new armies – pitted against each other.
Last issue (October 2016) you described it as – and I quote – ‘a classic match-up’ ( pg.23)!
This kind of battle report is something of a White Dwarf classic, and a great way of seeing how new armies work.
Two almost totally new armies (one released that month, and one the moth previous) isn’t a classic style of battle report. It’s generally a new army versus and established army.
Nor did it serve to show how the armies work particularly effectively – since there wasn’t a points limit, a non-standard mission was used, and both armies were illegal.
But there’s a host of other kinds of battle report, too, and what we try to do in White Dwarf is showcase a variety of them.
No you don’t. When was the last time White Dwarf showcased a properly narrative battle report, huh?
One thing we’ve had quite a few requests for is to see players using their own armies, and this issue that’s exactly what we’ve got for you! Ben Johnson and James Ashbey take to the field in a clash between Stormcast Eternals and the forces of Destruction.
The implication is that the use of non-studio armies is as a result of feedback to the two post-reboot battle reports. Which is obviously not true because we know how far White Dwarf is written so far in advance.
Also, a cynic might comment on how two out of three battle reports so far have featured Stormcast...
Sadly, it seems increasingly like my concern that the [latest] reboot of White Dwarf would be largely more of the same, but with a veneer of faux concern for quality and addressing long-time customer concerns, were well founded.
‘- if they suit the game in question.’ HOGWASH.
Also, I see that the featured army of the month is going to be Rik Turner’s Blood Ravens. Which we’ve seen before in White Dwarf. At least twice.

i enjoyed the Deathwatch battle report a lot...
maybe it is written for people like me, who don't actually play the game
i've enjoyed all the battle reports over the last 30 years of collecting White Dwarf, specifically because they do provide a narrative experience for me...
tactics don't matter to me, but pretty pictures do
this has been an awesome month for me...
Jes Goodwin interview, Genestealer design notes, Space Wolves army showcase, the concept behind the comic, a look into the Cults, cool blue Nurgle demons, Blanchitsu...
so much good stuff, that i am still enjoying the mag, a week before the next issue comes out...
that is a good sign to me...
bring on the Prospero showcase!!!
cheers
