Atm, Cypher (40k), Zahariel (30k). There's something enticing about Cypher's mysterious character; nobody knows what his goal is or where he is going to be. Zahariel's start as an altruistic boy into a battle-hardened, Daemon-binding heretic is gorgeous, and I would like to personally smash the computer of the jackass writer that killed off Nemiel and petulently, prematurely ended a well-developed plotline just because he wasn't the one to write the first two 30k Dark Angel books.

I agree with Angron (life was messed up, especially with non removable 'brain nails' and the permanent psychological damage they did, and essentially made I'm perma-angry) and Lorgar (He just really, really loved the emperor, wanted to put it down on parchment and get everyone else singing his praises too. Pity that the emperor was way, WAY to OTT in getting him to stop.
Perturabo was a massive, massive bell end. Hard to feel sorry for him when he acted like a massive spoilt child with a chip on his shoulder.

Perturabo was a massive, massive bell end. Hard to feel sorry for him when he acted like a massive spoilt child with a chip on his shoulder.
Not saying there aren't tragic aspects to some of the other Traitor Primarchs. Angron is pitiable but not sympathetic. Lorgar is a zealot without reason, so dedicated to his belief that what he's doing is right that he won't listen to anyone else. Perturabo is...well...I guess you could say he isn't as terrible as Fulgrim.
But while Magnus made a bunch of bad decisions, he made them for good, or at least understandable, reasons, in spite of being crapped on by not just his brothers but by the Emperor. Or, to oversimplify:
"Dad, your favorite son Horus, captain of the football team, has been smoking dope with the bad kids at school, and now he's going to steal your car and run you over with it!"
"Get the hell out of my workshop, nerd! You know why I told you to stay out? It's because I knew you would knock over this model train set I've been working on forever instead of spending time with you, my family."
"But he's got a bunch of your sons -- my brothers! -- together to try to freaking kill you and steal your house!"
"There's no way Horus would ever do that, he's totally awesome. Dammit, Magnus, you've been a real bitch ever since I had your brothers vote on whether you could stay in Chess Club! And talk about ungrateful, I was going to have you run this model train set when I was done, but I guess this just proves you weren't worthy of it."

I still think Curze is the most sympathetic. Being driven insane because you know how everyone you meet will die is far worse than what happened to Lorgar or Angron.

He is one seriously tough old man. To put into perspective for other readers; He retired and moved to Armageddon before Ghazzy''s first invasion let alone being there to defend the planet some 57 yes later during his second invasion.
But allow me, if you will, a bit of a moment to put together a path of logic that convoluted as it might seem if you follow you might find rich rewards.
During his first invasion of Armageddon, Ghazzy outmanouevered and took apart the Imperium with the use of well coordinated tactics far beyond what the Imperium expected of Orks. Yarrick at hives Hades greatly impressed Ghazzy by constantly countering every attempt to break into Hades and not just counter but in such ways that would make Orks punch their fists in thevery air and yell (had they not been at the receiving end of it). From this point on he considered Yarrick to be Orky and he'd soon get a chance to prove and preach this to the boyz).
They met again and fought again. Can't exactly remember if Golgotha or Piscina...Anyways this time Ghazzy got the Old Man and took him as prisoner. He made a speech to his Orks that Yarrick wasn't just a normal squishy human but rather very 'ard like an ork and he'll prove it. He kept tossing Yarrick into certain death situations while yelling his boys that not only will he survive where none of the other prisoners could but he'll also come back straight to Ghazzy looking for a proppa fight. Sure enough he keeps surviving and goes straight for Ghazzy intent on killing him but getting grabbed by Ghazzy again (he may be an ork but I'm da biggest ork dere iz). Once his boyz were convinced Yarrick was Orky he let Yarrick go free but not before telling Yarrick to return to Armageddon and prepare for the biggest fight.
Next. Ghazzy is an interesting anomaly amongst Orks. Not for being a tactical genius by human standards since we know of other Orks described the same way; The Beast, Nazdreg, and Baddrukk for example. What separates him is that he is actively aware of Orks gestalt psykic field and appears to use/cultivate it's effects no doubt thanks to Gork and Mork (whom we now know have chosen Ghazzy and Mary Sue him). It's been written that he'll purposely keep fights small to keep the waaagh! energy from attracting too much Orks and thus enemy attention while he trains his lootenants and tests new tactics. He can concentrate and know the location of large concentrations of Orks across massive galactic distance (later being able to see/hear/speak across the galaxy at such concentrations). Currently his main goal is to build up enough Waaagh! energy to summon Gork and More.
In conclusion. I believe Yarrick is the fluff example of Ghazzy understanding how the ork gestalt psykic field can effect reality if enough Orks in concentration believe it. So now here we have Yarrick who is some 60 yrs past retirement and just can't seem to die. EW rule on him is awesome. Lol not even Typhus got that rule. I assume Ghazzy has it because Gork and More protect him. A senior citizen human having it is boss. Orks believe he can kill with a look so then he goes and gets his eye turned into a laser thus inadvertently making ork belief true (or compelled by the gestalt psykic field...). He attaches a fetching ork klaw to his seversed arm and it ends up working! No not an Imperial prototype copy. He took it from the warboss he killed in the same fight that he lost part of his arm. Aside from not being green only thing left he needs to do to be true ork is grow to the size of a nob.
tl:dr - doesn't make sense how gak gets so high up the wall above the toilet.

Committed Chaos Cult Marine

I want to say Cypher as he would work well with my Dark Vengeance based Chaos Space Marine army, and I always liked the two-gun kid dual wielding look. However, I keep thinking about the Handsome Jack quote from Borderlands 2:
"No! No, no, no -- next! I hate those 'mysterious warrior' types. Nine times out of ten, there's nothing ACTUALLY special about them. Who else you got--"
I also like Abbadon even though he seems to get crapped on quite a bit by some players. That, and because he is unequivocally a bad guy of the setting, he can never truly win. I like to think he knows that but still tries anyway. Nobody knows what it's like to be the bad man. Nobody knows what it's like being the sad man...
I think it could be interesting to flesh out what his motivations are more that a mustache twirling villain bent of galactic domination (muh, ha, ha!). Of course, I also like that version too as it completely deflates the whole seriousness of the setting.
Really I think Abbadon works as a not-so-deep psychological look into evil or a silver-aged comic book villain. So long as he doesn't actually become a demon prince anyways.

Yeah he did Nemiel dirty. When I read that bit I was really let down, and I am not even a Dark Angels fan. His potential in the storyline was totally wasted.
