I like it!

I'm changing mine. I got the new Plague marines with the new game and I'm painting them just for fun. There.... Fun and games. Lol

Ok, so I've been thinking about an entry for this.
My initial thought when I read the "Fun & Games" theme was board games!
I'm a big fan of Soda Pop Miniatures and have quite a lot of their minis in my painting pile. To me the chibi style just screams FUN!
I've gone back and forth a bit about which models to paint tho, possibly a few treasure chests & boo bootys from SDE?
Or maybe a party of heroes and pets?
Or a mini boss and a few creeps?
Then my mind turned to Ninja All Stars. I backed the KS a few years back, so have a load of minis that need some love. The game didn't get great reviews tho I actually quite liked it, has a feel of Blood Bowl about it.

TLDR: my entry will be a few ninjas from Clan Yamazaru for NAS.

That board looks pretty cool already NiceguyPaul, can't wait to see it finished.

Seems like you have a lot of options GrimDork, good luck with whatever one you go for

Bit of an odd one - I have a plan to make a vehicle for a diorama which I intend to finish later...

Would it be okay to enter the vehicle, built and painted, sans any basing, context or diorama?

Edit (scratch build a vehicle, as a scenery element, I mean)

Would an Armorium Cherub fit the theme, being a gaming piece rather than a model? It's probably my only chance of having something for this month.

No problem if it's not suitable. I'd already written myself off for this one, but just had this as a possible idea.

A couple of WIP photos for the Wyldwood.

Basecoated bark:

Some more work done on the bark, mainly washes and drybrushed highlights, the leaves basecoated, some highlights, and a wash. I'm using an extraordinary amount of wash on this thing!

I didn't want to use my Agrax Earthshade on it, as that stuff is so expensive. Fortunately, I remembered that I had bought some Army Painter washes (Strong Tone and Soft Tone) but had never really used them for anything, so I used them. You can see by how the bottle on the right is half empty how much I've used! The wash is still wet on the leaves. I used a second wash on the leaves, of Drakenhof Nightshade, painted into the recesses on the lower part of the bark to make it much darker, a more interesting colour tone, and to try to create a sort of gradient so the lower part of the trees is darker than the top. It also made the model look more sinister, which was a happy accident.

I also don't know what I'm going to do with the ground. I would usually put some flock on it then dab some sepia wash onto it, but on this scale. I'm not sure if that is a great idea. What do you guys reckon?

I quite like the look of the wet wash, feltmonkey - it gives a real sense of life to the leaves. What are the Armypainter tones like? I've never used them.

For the base, maybe some sand in a dark, earthy brown with some sections green and moss-like? Maybe add some grass tufts or sections of flock?

Also, looking forward to seeing Apacekittens' diorama - some really fun models and terrain there, and n1ceguypaul's board - looks like some cool height to that board.

Finally, congrats to Whittlesey40k on the bub! Don't stress too much, you should still have some time for painting...at 3:25 in the morning with the baby screaming in your ear!

Seriously, I have three of the little buggers and I've adopted what I call 'guerilla painting' - 10 minutes here and there, doing basecoats or washes at home and saving the details to do at work in my lunch break.

Anyhow, all the best!

OP up to date. As to the various people asking what's appropriate, I'll reiterate what I said before: If you think it's appropriate and can justify why it fits the theme, it's fine to enter!

Also, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here's the League thread Midget Gems has kindly put together:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/732117.page

The thread is now Stickied at the top of the P&M forum, so if you ever need to check your progress or want to look back over previous rounds then it should be easy to find.

Would it be acceptable if I entered my Abominable Intelligence? I made it for fun, and intend on using it as a Relic in games.

I have nothing that really fits this month's challenge. The closest thing I have is Harlequin Shadowseer which I'm gonna paint for a friend.
I'm not that into fluff but aren't they like space clowns/jokers!?!. Their appearance screams fun and entertainment. Don't they find
disintegrating enemies funny?

Looks like a perfect objective for the relic game. Whats the story behind it? Seems like it would be perfect since the original suggestion was for objective markers or terrain.

Would anyone be opposed to me painting up a librarian? They play mind games... or something...?

I picked up the new Primaris guy and I just can't wait to get started with him haha

If not I'm sure I can scrape together a few Objective markers instead!

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

Alright, I'm in this month!
I didn't have too much that fit the theme, but I have a copy of the old school blood bowl boxed set that I've been meaning to paint up for forever. I figure I would do a test model from each of the two teams. The players presumably have fun playing their game, so I think it fits!

Absolutely I'd say and I'd love to see that.

Thought I would do a scenery project to be used as a location in a D&D game.
It is an evil sorceress' hut, made from an old Games Workshop cottage (I wish they still made this set) with a scratch-built 'interior', so that you can lift off the outer shell to reveal the inside of the cottage.
Here is my proof shot.

Good luck everyone!

That's looking very exciting. The trees are great. I can't imagine how you're going to get it finished in time, but I'm loving what you're doing so far.

I might have to get you to show me how to make trees like that so I can make some home-made wyldwoods. I must warn you though - I will use them to crush your stormcasts.

I tried really hard with the weathering and chipping on these guys. I also put lots of attention on the beards. I hope you like them!

@feltmonkey those pesky trees are no match (pun intended) for my awesomely handsome stormcast eternals that need some paint.

Cracking job as usual @bottle. The weathering is great, thats one of the things thats next on my to do list learn how to weather properly and not just slap on the shiny bits. Need to tone it down amd keep it crisp and clean. Fair play @bottle you nailed it.

Bit of a crazy month on here with stuff all over the place. Keep up the good work guys.

N1Paul yeah those trees look really good, nice work.

I really like the highlights and colour on the beards Bottle, cracking work well done

Lots of people seems to be struggling with entries or ideas for this month, or wondering if their idea fits the theme. Remember this challenge is all about an excuse to get you painting, so even a very tenuous link is fine. e.g. 40k, AOS, Bloodbowl, Infinity etc are all games, I assume you have fun playing them (or painting the models) therefore any model = Fun and Games. Its a very open category

Finally getting some paint on my guys, still working though a few of the finer details.
