Denmark: Plundering the British isles since 793. It is what we do

8 June 793 – Viking raiders attack the Northumbrian coast, arriving in longships from either Denmark or Norway, and sacking the monastery of Lindisfarne. Many of the monks are killed or enslaved. It is the earliest known Viking attack on the British Isles.

Info checks out.

As for Plastic Sisters, one can only hope.

Thank you. That was exactly what I was looking at. I was thinking two heavy bolters, a multi melta and a flamer. Maybe a Sister Superior.

I'd generally recommend a mono-build for heavy weapons squads like these. A heavy flamer is going to want to close in on enemy units which is going to cause problems for the other heavy weapons.

It’s interesting to think, that sales on metal sisters are apparently so bad that GW feel it a safer move to produce completely new armies and miniature lines than it is to revamp the SoB model line, despite the persistent chattering that is the Sisters of Battle fan base, champing at the bit for plastic models.

Since SoB last had a miniature list that wasn’t brand new characters, we have had GS cults, Necrons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Admech, Harlequins, Custodes... what else? Grey Knights? They might count as new since SoB, as their previous incarnation was Dark Millennium.

Assuming it’s not all a sick joke where GW want to see how much they can torture a portion of their buyers, the bean counters must be looking at some utterly dire statistics to think that adding random new factions is more profitable than sorting out an existing and dated line.

This suggests that people are not buying enough of the metal models, however that could be a type of catch 22 situation - if you don’t buy them, there’s not enough visible interest, but if you do buy them, the existing line is obviously fine as is!

Ebay is your other source. Still pricey but much less so than buying direct from geedub.

I would bet money they come out this edition. People have wanted them for a decade thats true but gw has been releasing stuff like crazy. They hinted when magnus dropped, they released resin veridian and plastic celestine, they hinted the it in the squats release The deathguard line reboot just gives me a strong feeling this is the year.

I bet they do release them but they won't have as much of the gothic nuns with guns look. Or they won't be quite what people are envisioning. And then people ( I included) will be bummed and the cycle will continue.

GW is continuing to go into a more PG and politically correct direction. And I imagine the sisters of battle will suffer from it in the same way Slaanesh has. When I got into the hobby there was gory brutal violence in the artwork, nudity, the whole thing was a lot more grim, same with the lore. Those days are over, now it's picnic time with Cawl and the Eldar together at Guillimans house.

One thing I'm gonna guess is that when SOBs finally are released in plastic, that they get upgraded to 32mm base sizes, SOS have this base size so my guess is this'll be standard for all power army

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

So you're betting money this edition? Or this year?

Full army? Or less than a dozen special models?

(GW released a few plastic Sisters of Battle along with Celestine -- apparently, that didn't satisfy the couple vocal SoB players still out there)

What's the wager? And who can get in on it?

The funniest thing to me is that they're also 2x as expensive compared to other armies THAT ARE METAL. I was buying Vostroyan guard a while back, and I went in thinking they were Sisters of Battle priced but they're 40$ for 10 metal figures!

I guess the "pink tax" you get on razorblades and deodorant also applies to miniatures.

Normally I'd say you are right, but the sisters regular models are some of the best GW produced. There is some insane detail on each model. (Ebay was my friend when I bought my army however )

Just buy 3rd party female heads and put them on space marine bodies using super glue. It's not like you would be able to tell what they look like under hundreds of pounds of power armor anyway.

They'll match the St. Celestine and Geminae aesthetic. No reason they would not. Even the Repentia are pretty tame (cleavage, oh noes). Nobody is going to lose their crap over fully armored women that happen to have boob plate (and zero flesh showing)

Alternately if you don't want your T3 models to be as bulky as T4 models you could try weapon/head swaps on Sisters of Silence. They're a little small, but with careful saw work and a good amount of patience I bet you could produce credible meltaguns and heavy weapons to round out the bolters/flamers they've already got.

I think they could make a ton of cash with a couple Sisters plastic kits. I think at this point, SOB players would be more than pleased with plastic and all the options that come with it, even if there wasn't anything "new" needing new rules.

I did like those models but they look a bit angelic and clean on the armor and the armor is less gothic and gritty than i'd like, but I guess that fits who they are. If they look anything like this i'll be 100% content though;

One thing I hope carries over is that helmet design, it's too cool to be redesigned.

The face sculpts on celestine and her retinue left a bit to be desired, but I feel they got their scale/size and proportions spot on. The funniest part about their possible/eventual release is gonna be the price gouging though. I feel pretty certain GW knows they will be able to price plastic sisters very high cause people will buy them in a fever no matter what. If they do and get some kind of horrid backlash i'm gonna be popping multiple bags of popcorn.

The Sallet helms that Jes designed are the best. Far better than the bobs, when the girls should be buzzed or shaved

One of the biggest hurdles of starting sisters currently is how expensive it is so I think GW might be a bit sensitive to price for sisters (not saying GW will go cheap on them but I think plastic sisters being even remotely close to their metal counter parts will infuriate the masses).

JohnHwangDD wrote:The Sallet helms that Jes designed are the best. Far better than the bobs, when the girls should be buzzed or shaved

I think the bob is iconic for sisters and really helps to highlight the female aspect of them instead of relying on face sculpt quality (female faces is not GW's strong point) and feminine features to sell that they are female. Besides sisters of silence already do the whole bald/top knot stereotype of GW head sculpts so it would be nice to see something different than the same chrome dome / buzz cut we see on all those space marines.

^This.

The other factor that might help explaining GW's reasoning behind not releasing plastic Sisters is historic sales may have been low (when all sets were metal and roughly the same price).

If plastic Sisters are coming, I agree that this edition is the most likely. They're one of the strongest forces on the battlefield, the rules support them and they have one of the best characters in the game in Celestine. I don't think they'll be cheap though. Orks got a fair few new plastic kits 3 or 4 years ago and the prices of some of those is obscene.

Those Ork kits were released in the Kirby era if I recall correctly. Kirby pricing was just all over the place. Fyreslayers, Witch Aelves, and other kits were released around the same time and had just ridiculous pricing on them. The post-Kirby kits have most of the time been a bit more conservative in my experience.

Only time will tell though.

My local GW store manager is making an plastic sisters army from Sisters of Silence with Skitarii Vanguard heads with the crests trimmed. Looks pretty legit.

I also honestly believe they will see new models this year - I expect the full lineup will be.. Celestine and Gemini, a new character model and 2 infantry kits which can be built in 2 ways each... one footslogging, one jump pack elites. Plus a vehicle of some sort. A rhino with a special sisters upgrade sprue.

The best bit is that when they do come out the reaction will be... "OH GREAT YET MORE IMPERIUM STUFF COME ON GW THIS IS RIDICULOUS!"

Yea you're right in that the release was during Kirby era but if the prices are out of whack why don't they fix them now? lol instead they make the most expensive kits (Mek Gunz) one of our best in CA!

I mean it's all relative, GW has never been a cheap hobby
