Subject: AOS Openday - news, previews, info and all from the big weekend! Includes all games not just AoS

That's a very good thought. If magic was the last editions special feature then cavalry could be this editions.

I strongly doubt it, Riptooth and Mollog are on a 40mm bases and fit fine in the hexes, plus it would invalidate all the current boards.
The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

And, not to state the obvious, but when you say "all game not just AoS", we're still taking AoS-related games (Warcry, Underworlds, etc.). In other words, we shouldn't expect the next great shocking revelations for 40K in a new campaign book announcement or anything like that?
Lol, I was wondering the same thing. The thread title reminds me of a tabletop games forum version of this classic movie scene.

Then again there's apparently another big event in 10 days or so so this could just be teasing out the data. Also its important to remember that there's still 2 dry weeks for AoS whilst Warcry is on its big pre-order run.
what event is?
Thanks

Overread wrote: So at the end of the day it was a powerful slew of releases! The new Orruk Battletome is sounding great, we got a good tease of Ogors getting a new model and likely a new duel kit which with the launch of the new teaser video could even come hot on the heels of a new Death Faction.
In addition there's a lot of complexity with the new Free Cities battletome and whilst I was hoping Destruction would get lots of attention, I'm kind of more interested to see how GW balances and makes the Free Cities tome work - its certainly a very big "soup" based tome but then again it could be very unique compared to many others.
About the only thing I felt a little disappointed with was that we only got a teaser for the new Underworlds releases. Mostly because we already knew it was coming so having a teaser for something we know is coming is sort of a bit of a waste. The new silhouettes are interesting and the setting moving to the land of beasts makes many think we'll see some more orruks and ogors appearing. But in the end we really don't know anything more than what we knew yesterday.

This sums up most of my thoughts pretty nicely. It's interesting, since Bonesplitters and Iron jaws already had battletomes, and now lumping them together... well, I guess it literally hits two birds (orks?) with one stone. Throw in their Endless Spells, get them done and out of the way.
The Cities of Sigmar book gives new life to a lot of models that are still in production/being sold. That's not a bad thing for the company and for fans of those forces. It'll be a hard pill to swallow when some of the units disappear, but hey, that's just how it goes.
Underworlds... well, hey, neat. It's not big in my area, but I understand it's got quite the following and I'm always eager to see what new stuff comes out.
As for the Bone Tithe... well, when GW decides to focus on a faction, they really double down on that, don't they? Last year it was nothing but Nurgle. This year it's Death, Death, and more Death. Yeah there's other releases in between but it feels like a lot of Death. I'd certainly rather have Death than more Order, but dangit, where's my lizardpeople.

Going to disagree with Overread. It was a day of vaguely teasing future releases, an acknowledgement of Warcry, and effectively a preview of a negative number of releases for AoS. Two books and a single model coming and a 'handful' going.
The day itself seemed mostly a bust.

The Ogre is a fine model though, and the plastic centigor are something to look forward to...however far in the future they actually happen.
Efficiency is the highest virtue.

And 3 warbands of new sculpts and 3 more to come and 2 more after that. So its not without models esp since those warbands are joining into Slaves to Darkness and likely might well have their own pages in the Battletome once we see it (though its going to be a fair ways off yet it seems).
So its only a bust on models if you are ignoring Slaves to Darkness.
I agree losing models is NEVER a nice thing and I'm somewhat surprised they put all or most of the Aelves into the same army along with humans and dwarves; but at the same time we knew GW was not going to support all those fragmented aelf forces. Plus with the new ones they've added and all the changes we knew that any merger of Aelves was likely going to lose us sculpts somewhere along the lines. The worse part is honestly how GW has dragged out the process, but then again I suspect that they didn't really know what to do with them either for a long while.
Overall I remain positive; whilst its a painful transition for some armies, by the time we hit this same point next year we should have a game that has complete forces with 2.0 battletomes and be looking at a future for AoS that is full of more releases and updated sculpts rather than one where everyone is worried about armies being dropped, losing models and the lack of knowing what was going on.
Plus today means that there's only around 7 battletomes not yet announced to finish the game in terms of 2.0 Tome support.

I agree. For a miniature company showing only 1 new model is a poor show.
In comparison with other previews this was a bit dire.

Wow What an absolutey boring open day. " Our reveals today are teaser trailers that tell us whem the next reveals will be!" Like, seriously? Atleast Tithe of Bones sounds interesting, unlike Forbidden Power or w.e its called

I just read all the stuff they said about the new Free Cities tome, “Contained within you’ll find allegiance abilities for whichever city your army hails from, as well as over-arching abilities such as picking a retinue and personal advisor for your general.” That last bit sounds pretty badass.
