Pa books don't alter datasheets of units that don't get new model so we know that won'' happen. At most stratagem that buffs gauss of one unit per shooting phase

A new "Big Cheese" model...cool.

Frayed ones...let me guess...£32.50 for five?

Anyone notice the 2 dispersion shield shapes that followed him around in the video? Also, it looks like he may have some kind of shoulder mounted weapon/gear.

IMO they were an interesting experiment and fairly ground breaking for GW at the time(I remember being totally blown away by the plastic warriors when they were released) . But I wouldn't be sad to see them replaced with sculpted parts like on the Immortals and Ghost Ark. Also dropping the green plastic would increase the odds of a new Monolith that doesn't require four arms and dozens of elastic bands to stick together.

Wouldn't put too much hope on new models. New spider cryptek and silent king is already putting necrons on strong side on new models. Pariahs redone is most i would be hoping for. Gw isn't doing tons of redones favouring new units and redo's would be more likely imo for new codex than pa

Two points. First is that not all of the units that should have the green rods have them. Second and more importantly, not all Necrons use green rods (e.g., the Mephrit Dynasty uses orange instead of green).

What if they did new sculpts with transparent rods that could be tinted with Contrast...

I don’t think this is for PA, seems to be a new codex/edition thing. There was no PA branding to the video and there’s rumours about Necrons with 9th Ed which seem much more reasonable now.

You expect them to get pa and codex at pretty much same time? Unlikely. And expensive having to buy supplement and codex right away if true.

I have a feeling that is not a possibility at this time as the rods don't take inks or washes very well.

Hoping for some Ogryn sizes necrons for robot reasons.
Not a necron player but I’d have plenty of use for them lol.
Also wouldn’t mind a big walker (bipedal) either.

Perhaps something more like mini diorama, like the ossiarch bone king for AoS, or SoBs the triumph of st katherine. Seems like the new cool.
Hold on, summer of mini diorama. Reincarnated Tau space pope diorama coming up!

Yeah, don't hold your breath on that. Aun'va isn't around anymore.

We still get the profile and bodyguards, but there's a fluff reason for that.

What you're missing or ignoring is that some of the speculation is for this having been part of a build-up to a starter set, with Necrons as the Big Bad.

It's entirely possible that the intention will be that there are new codices planned for this year, with the Psychic Awakening content present in them.

The green rods aren't the problem for the Monolith- they slot neatly into recessed areas on the weapons and sides. Its mostly that those four large flat panels warp slightly, and there isn't any way to buffer that- most modern GW kits are built in layers, so hide (and reinforce) large joins. The monolith just presents 4 5" long seams (each side panel to their neighbors) and 4 6" long seams (side panels to base) and laughs at your despair.

Now, the rods do make warriors more difficult than they need to be, as they don't innately line up well with the gun and the end cap, especially when you're juggling the joins for the arms, and which pain-in-the-neck connection to do first, without disrupting the other
Personally, they also don't look as good as the sculpted weapons in more recent kits.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Wondering if this might well be a Vect style Dias?

As others have said, it would fit what we know of Necrons. There’s already the Command Barge, so Szeras being on foot would seem weird.

And if we’re in for new models?

Updated Flayed Ones & Monolith are a must for me. New Pariahs seem distinctly possible, based on what little we know of the forthcoming PA entry.

Oh, and plastic Heavy Destroyers, likely as an updated Destroyer kit. That’d be very nice, thank you.

I loved the fluff of the old necrons. Not as much the newer stuff. Also wished forgeworld made the proper tomb stalker (from medusa v campaign)

Medusa V's big thing was called a Crypt Stalker.

I personally hate the rods. I gave up on half my necron army because I lost the rods and didn't want to buy replacements.

Cut up Immortal Gauss Blasters and use those to replace the rods, that's what I did. Alternatively, you can find resins of basically the same techy looking tubes on Etsy as rod replacements.

Could this mean new Tyranids hot on his tail!!!

Maybe led by a dominatrix...a new wave of bio constructs..

They could revisit each Xenos race and refresh/renew them if Xenos are the big bad in the next edition..

Really like that video- the Necron art is really cool and I'm nota Necron player .. seems to line up with the rumours around 9th and the Necrons in the box..

Thank you for the tips. Yeah they became cut up scrap for my bits box so its a little late to salvage them at this point. If I do get more necrons I will definitely look on Etsy for the rod replacements. Fortunately I had a pretty sizable Necron army.

How did you missed the whole "tragedy of a race that was doomed and enslaved by star gods more ancient than any other life in the galaxy"?

IMO the good thing about the "current" Necron background is that there is plenty of room for all three versions to co-exist.

As opposed to "durr, they be killer robot egyptians!"?

Whilst that is true in theory, GW seems adamant on focusing on dynastic necrons.
Remember the Severed? GW didn't and hasn't mentioned them since 5th ed.

From page 10 of Codex Necrons (8th edition):

There are thousands of tomb worlds scattered throughout the galaxy whose halls are thronged with shambling automatons, Necrons whose minds fled during hibernation, and whose bodies have been co-opted by a tomb world’s master program in an attempt to bring some form of order to their existence. Other Necrons refer to such places as the Severed Worlds, and they loathe and fear their inhabitants in equal measure.

Thing to remember, pretty much all 40k canon is Apocryphal. Half or worse remembered fables and legends of glory days long since fled, lost to the annals of time and filtered through minds with an agenda.

If The Imperium’s first contact were with Severed Worlds, then the original background kicks in, with unbound, rogue C’Tan shards being mistaken for the whole of the thing.

Only the Eldar really know much about the Necrons, and given the fall, their version seems unreliable at best, even before you factor in deliberate lies and half truths to mess up their various competitors.

So both versions are true, depending on how you look at it.

Well I am not going to put my hopes up but I really hope Silent King is going to be something more unique when compared to other Necrons.
