What units do you have that aren't going to translate well to 9th because of something OTHER than Tactical viability?

I mostly hate the fact the my Ghazghkull model, my favorite GW miniature in history, is now just a humble meganob. Especially when not long ago my big mek on a bike became a simple nob on warbike unless playing legends, so did the biker boss.

I just hope that GW doesn't primarize TWC, Wulfen and special SW characters at this point, they already killed Ragnar Blackmane.

Almost missed the "Other than tactical viability" part. That would have been silly.

My Librarian and Interrogator-Chaplain on bikes got the Legends treatment, so sadly they won't be seeing any play any more. TBH I hadn't really used them much since 7th edition though, where they were totally fixtures in my lists.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Still holding out for Necron Pariahs.

What is with all the love for Pariahs? I didn't play when those things existed in the game, so I haven't a clue why I see so many people clamoring for them.

On moon miranda.

Sadly it looks like Heavy Bolters are going to be the great betrayers for my Guard, I think I eat more cost increases on those than anything else. After finally having an edition where heavy bolter really were solid generalist purchases (albeit outshone by Plasma Cannons on Russ tanks), GW remembered that's not supposed to happen

More on point however, I don't really have much in the way of stuff that won't have rules or that'll be awkward to field, mostly just the traditional Forgeworld "hey are we ever gonna get a book newer than 2017?" issues. I think my new GK army will have to cut a character or swap a HQ Dreadknight for HS versions, my Guard are just going to have to live with fewer heavy bolters, my Chaos Marines will remain on the shelf, and it looks like the Shadowsword+3Baneblade list is retired for the time being. I haven't actually looked at how my Eldar would play (not that they got many 8E games in), but that's an army mostly composed of Wave Serpents and War Walkers anyway.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

For my tyranids it's the Harpy. With two HVC it was a decent AT threat with movement shenanigans from dropping spores. But being a monster with blast weapons in the Flier choice, it went up 50 points. It doesn't have Airborne. It's weapons are assault. It can't shoot them into CC. Gained nothing from rules changes, but got the nerfbat all the same.

Thank goodness GW brought a much-needed end to all those Wraithlord armies that were dominating the meta in 8th.

Also, you look familiar somehow.

I did a double take when you quoted him....something familiar....something in the eyes

I have seniority.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Heavy bolter are being penalized for being the most common sponson gun on Imperial tanks. They're the gun you're going to use to try to clear melee units off your tank so the main gun can fire at something else. I'm not saying that's sensible, just that I think it's the most likely explanation.

3 Heavy Bolters on a Leman Russ firing into melee with MEQ's engaging it is 9 shots, 3 hits, 2 wounds, 1 dead marine.

I don't see that as "clearing melee units of my tank".

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Just because it isn't going to work very well doesn't mean you're not going to try it.

The Malanthrope doesn't seem too useful in an edition where obscuration is easier to come by and to-hit penalties cap at -1. Which is a shame, because I've always loved the model (see: avatar).
Maybe it'll get a bigger radius to compensate for being only one model?

Ah who are we kidding? GW will increase its cost a further 50% because it was really good in 8th and their "balancing" always lags an edition or two.

Am I allowed to mourn Chaos Marine Infantry, which has been pretty worthless since 8th? Or is it too far back?
Seems fine to do that.

I mourn the Carnifex, and he too also died a long time ago.
