Alien franchise:
Alien (1979) - required
Aliens (1986) - required
Alien: Romulus (2024) - optional. It was pretty good. If you see it it won't be a waste of time, but if you don't you won't have really missed anything. Watch while you build or paint something.

Predator franchise:
Predator (1987) - required
Predator 2 (1990) - optional. See comments about aliens: Romulus.
Prey (2022) - not required, really good.

All the rest? The newer they are, the worse they get.

You might love AVP and hate Alien 1 and Predator. And that's ok!

no, you WILL only like all the movies I like and you WILL be HAPPY with it!

OK. Here's my suggestion (In this order):

Alien Covenant
Alien Resurrection
Alien vs. Predator: Requiem
Transformers: Dark the Moon
Alien vs. Predator
Battlefield Earth
The Predator

By this point you should be dead due to your brain rebelling against your soul, so you won't need to watch anything ever again.

I never thought I’d say this, but good call on Battlefield Earth to keep it breezy.

I did enjoy The Predator, Weaponizing Autism was a weird plot point, but the character interactions are great, and the hunt in the forest has the BEST action shots.

You are allowed to like what you like and all that, but The Predator? The one that had a cast of comedy slap stick or yelling at each other like it's a stoner movie from the 90s? The one where for some reason the predator species turns themselves into dogs? And one gets shot in the head and it makes him nice?

There was one good scene. The predator tearing through that lab. Everything else is complete garbage.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

The fact an entire character motivation can be reduced to an alien monster wearing a blue 'please be patient i have autism' hat really sums up the quality of hollywood writing

Wasn't The Predator written or directed by an actor from the original Predator?

I'm too tired to check the interwebs.

It makes me wonder what the sequel would've been like if they had continued with the Predator Power Suit for humans storyline.
....

Besides the Aliens: Special Edition, Alien³ Assembly Edition, & Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Unrated Edition, are there any other Special versions of any of these films worth watching?

Shane Black. The guy with glasses who tells the big pussy jokes in the first one. He is normally a writer director with his scripts famous for "Shane Blackisms" in that he writes for the actors reading them. "Scene cuts to large mansion exterior. The kind of mansion my mother watches on TV typically depicted in shows like Dallas". He puts it little bits like that as a comedic whatevers.

He punched up the original predator script too. It's amazing that he has so little understanding of the franchise given his previous involvement.

The Predator was rescripted and reshot several times and you can honestly see the different versions of the movie if you look closely. It's such a mess of a mess because they decided to make big changes to the plot more than once, but tried to squeeze in footage they already had even when it resulted in things being disjointed.

And that's before we get to the really fething dumb 'I want your autism' subplot.

As someone who works directly with that population
It made me mad.
Autism isnt a super power.
Some people argue it isnt a disability.
Some may even say its not even a thing, its just that society expects everyones brains to work the exact same
