Thanks a lot muette for your comment! Glad you like my stuff!

gobert wrote:Nice grim dark metalwork on the Dread, his OSL pops really well too. Good luck smashing the next few minis in the pile

Thanks you very much gobert! The dread turned out a little more gritty than intended because I apparently forgot to thin down my wash mix appropriately. I think it still looks okay, so long as it fits in with the other units. See below for more!

CHALLENGE COMPLETE!

Alright friends, time for a final update here! As you know, the challenge ended on May 9th, and of course I quickly headed down to my FLGS to hand in the picture and claim my rewards. I actually managed to get the final sqaud of Grey Knights to a tabletop-ready standard and make them count towards th challenge. So ultimately, in the end, I managed to complete 56 miniatures in total! Hooray! Let's take a quick look at the squad:

This is the second set of Purifiers I painted, and together they make up a ten man squad for the new Combat Patrol. I almost have everything together for that, except the new Castellan Crowe model. Might need to head over to the FLGS again to oder one at some point, but we'll see. Here's a reverse shot of the squad:

Once again, I added a very quick and simple OSL effect to the generator things on the backpacks, which helps make the minis pop. I've also taken some individual shots of the models:

So as I mentioned, this final set of minis I managed to squeeze in before the deadline took me to 56 models painted in total. That means that I earned two of the possible three rewards, the pin badge and the water pot stand! While I'm not too excited about the latter, the former is actually a pretty nifty trophy for my painting efforts this year, and for reminding me of my growth as a hobbyist during this time. Yay! I even started to modify the pin badge with some cloth strips to simulate a sort of "purity seal" appearance:

I'm considering putting it on my backpack when it is finished, but I think I should first add some writing on it too. We'll see. Anyways, as this is likely one of my last posts in this thread, I want to take this moment to thank all of you for following along and encouraging me throughout the whole process. I really appreciate every single one of your comments, and I'm very thankful to have such a positive and supportive community here to share my stuff with. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH lovely people! Oh and btw, I've decided to create a dedicated thread for my Grey Knights since I actually finished quite a lot of them during the past few months. So if you enjoyed what I showed off here, I'd encourage you to check that out as well.

Thanks again for checking out this thread! Hopefully, I'll be seeing you again in others, such as my Battle for Macragge restoration project which I'll be getting back to next. Byeeeee!

Congrats on the million minis trophies. The cloth additions are great, what’s your plan for the writing? Listing the minis and some faction icons?

Congrat on hitting the 50+ mark for your models. Such a great variety of guys and at a really high quality. Loving some of the conversions on the imperial guard. And the Cadians with catachan arms are a very nice commando squad, might borrow that if you don’t mind.

The pin badge idea is genius by the way, whilst the beer coaster is ok, I love the purity seal you e been awarded, have you decided what to put on it yet?

Thank you very much gobert! Adding the cloth strips seemed like the logical thing to do, as the pin was clearly modeled to look like a wax seal. Maybe we were even intended to do so by GW, who knows?

Ooooooh, I must admit I really like your idea about the writing! Listing all the factions with the respective amount of minis painted, plus a little icon, that sounds pretty dope! I was thinking something along the same lines, with maybe a short devotional text/prayer/oath, listing the total number of models painted somewhere in there. But your idea is even better, I'm very tempted to do that now! Thanks again!

Thank you very much, JordySteve! Super happy to hear you enjoy the stuff I showed off in this thread, and any inspiration you can find, go ahead and take it! Though I'm certainly not the first to do this and have merely stolen the idea from someone else tbh

Btw, I totally agree that the pin badge is the superior reward of the two, despite being the lower tier. I think I just might follow gobert's suggestion above with listing all the faction and giving the number of models painted for each one, plus a little faction icon. It is a super cool idea and gives me a bit more text to help fill out the empty space.

Ah, don't worry, gobert. I think these challenges come around every year or so, don't they? You can always enter next time! If it's about the rewards, maybe someone on ebay is willing to part with their goodies for a reasonable sum ? Best of luck friend!

Thank you so much, aku-chan!

Alright, so I made a quick test of what I want to have on the purity seal cloth. This is the planned layout:

- - -

Navis Imperialis
V

Adeptus Astartes Ultra
II

Imperialis Militia
VII

Ordo Malleus
XXI

Ordo Xenos
XIII

Astra Militarum
VIII

Totalis:
LVI

- - -

What do you think, is this ok? seems like it would look pretty cool on there, and it is also not too much so I don't have to go super tiny with my brush freehand writing.

Thanks again for all your comments and feedback!
