We discussed next game, which'll be 1000. He's avoided swooping hawks, perversely, because they're his favourite unit on the eldar roster. However, he'll be running them next time.

As for my pennies, I bought a monster case and a basic set of Vallejo game colour. A sound choice, if a little dull :(

However, if only to get a sense of productivity, and get tiny #2 to stop from trying to eat the sprues, I'm going to try rapid build/paint the LRC and GKs over this long weekend. I found an unpainted, un-mentored Libby when reorganising cases, so that's another fig for the Knights of the Mind (working name for the Red Knights). Castellan from bits is totally feasible, too, hurrah. Not much of a stretch to 1k from there - and I'm determined to have a fully painted army on the table!

actually I think I'll go with Chevaliers Encarmine or some such. Maybe Blood Knights, GKs that specialise in taking on Khorne's minions. What do folk think? Might need to start begging for daemon leftovers?

I've got both kids today so no major progress, built the metal hurricane bolter sponsons without crying - just - built the purifier squad (1 little conversion) and GKd up the LRC a little. I'm going to use my steadfast favourite grey primer, rather than black, just for more depth. Oh, and #1 washed his grot tank ready for liberal multi-colour drybrushing.

Tried to take some better pics of the Mental Leejun grot bur just wasn't working for some reason.

Blood Knights is a little close to BA, not sure of an alternative though sorry.

Know that feeling - I am a treadhead at heart, it's hard not to run a tank army (still, that's what my guard are for).

A wee update though pic free alas: on a whim I bought some humbrol spray grey primer as I was passing a modelzone. My considered opinion is that actually it's rather good, a shade darker than Vallejo, but boy does it run out fast. Still, LRC built and primed, and lots of marines prepped. This does of course mean I shall have to do some painting of course...

Did get WM360 and SolarLion's gms guys washed, so progress there. Also small fry #1 did some grot tank painting, much fun, he asked of we could use a sponge so we did some weathering which was jolly. Not much to show otherwise, bit of work on kitbashed ls tempest, and so forth.

Last question: I use d-style bases. Should I, for the sake of general playability, use standard ones for my GKs?

Chamfered edges; the rounded lip-edge as favoured by Warmachine, Malifaux, Helldorado (woo! Helldorado!) etc.

Back on the subject of purchases, I'm highly amused that my parents have offered to buy me something gaming related for the first time in 30-odd years. Taken that long to embrace their nerdling, I guess. So time to start making a wishlist methinks!

Funnily enough I got roped into one of those dancing things.. But that's another story eh?
I'm being a little unfair, they did put up with my general geekness for some years I just think they assumed I'd grow out of it. Thing is, getting older just means you can afford to buy the toys you want yourself.

Anyway, a mini update, or rather a mini-me update: #1 son did some painting of his grot tank. I primed it for him (he chose all the parts from my bitzbox, I just did the gluing), and painted the gobbo green, he did the rest: he chose the yellow, drybrushed it, want to use a sponge for shiny bits (note chipping on dozer blade), muddied it (sepia wash) and then cleaned it yellow again (drybrushed highlights). Not bad for a 3 1/2 year old, eh?

Not that I'm a pushy parent or anything...

Good job on the tank, and I'm impressed by his choice of bits too, I see a great future for ankle-biter #1.
