Sorry I've been a bit behind with updates, kids have had chicken pox followed by exorcist levels of vomit. Quel joi.

I have been priming like a maniac - I'm loving the coverage humbrol gives, I'm hating the cost - and working on several gms type projects, for Solar_Lion, WM360 and endtransmission. All received some paint and tlc today, though little worth photographing. I'm also going to see if I can kitbash a few more Knights Carnelian (a better name I think) from some DA parts, inspired by knightly's outstanding work. Suddenly they stop being an easy army build...

Apparently my FLGS friends tell me they read the GK codex and instantly thought of me, which to my mind is odd as I'm not usually a small elite army gamer. Said the born-again marine fanatic.

My fluff-ish for the knights is that they are a faction who work closely with the Inquisition against agents of Khorne, but especially World Eaters and Fire Dragons. Sound reasonable? Cur begging for bits of daemons...

Some great stuff although I do find the idea of the Mentor Mod squad quite amusing and appropriate. The time turner idea is intriguing and the sculpted details great!

we all know priming is just the first step in many, so now you hve to get with doing the rest of the painting I like Knights Carnelian though (i did have to Google it just to check i wasnt missing anything subtle), and ive always seen GK's as the ones more likely to be wearing robes than DA.
Cant wait to see the GMS marines and your newly primed KC's!

Well despite getting so throughly spewed on it filled my wallet (now that's a penetrating attack), actually got some painting done last night. I know, astonishing, really. I'll get more pics up later but, for now, some progress on Solar_Lion's Chapter Master:

I'll be honest, using blue and purple to highlight and shade red makes my brain hurt, but I'm really pleased with the results this far. Any tips, anyone? Anyway. More pics anon.

As mentioned above, I find the use of colour opposites to shade/highlight really counter-intuitive, but I've very pleased with the results. I'll maybe put a pic of something I painted a few years ago (a Heroclix Hulk) and you'll see, I hope, some improvement! Anyway, not quite done, but nearly.

Hey, quick update/query: the boy's working another tank, would WIPs be wanted?
On the subject of WIPs, in fact, a lot of the army is now primed: worth doing a group shot?
Last night's efforts included half a squad of GKs made from bits (da robed bodies+company champ torso+kitbashed incinerators) as I'm too tight to buy another box, plus finishing off the IA9 counts-as termie characters.
And a brief tale: I was cutting away at something and slipped - thought myself, "Wow, can't believe I didn't cut myself." 5 mins later wondered what the red gak on a mini was... No nerve endings in middle left finger tip after an incident with a jam jar in school...
Ah well.

Edit: missed an apostrophe. The shame. Bad teacher!

I'm jelious of the Boarding Marine for SL, I haven't got mine yet (they are on there way though) and I think yours is the 1st Ive seen painted up so far.

Your swap is almost done and I have to admit It's the closest to competition painting I ever done.. Best face I ever painted. Taking M. fontaine's painting class at adepticon really helped.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. I love the Boarding Marine and really wish I'd picked one up for myself now... Ah well. It's very fiddly to paint actually as the raised details (purity seals especially) are so heavily embossed.

Glad the ghostly rider is popular. The concept owes a lot Ygg's Reavers. I'm playing about with lots of whites just now in preparation for the mammoth task ahead of me in the Mentor Legion. I wonder about airbrushing the white (Vallejo air skull white) over my grey primer/black wash?

The boy's first stage of current project involves a shadowsword cannon on a stormlord bracket with a predator power cell on the back (which sit perectly against one another). I just let him loose in the bits box; he now has his own little tub of things he scavenges from there.

@Gits: if you want a Weeping Angel, we can figure something out. I'll need to grub up some more BA bits from somewhere. You could do me a certain MW Libby maybe ;-) ?

@S_L: Glad you like; least I could do. Really excited to see what you've done! I wish my face painting were remotely decent. Any hints much, much appreciated. Eyes are my downfall.

I feel your pain on the boarding marine. I bought one at Adepticon as a gift to my son... should have picked up a second one for me as I am unlikely to get to any other FW event this year. Live and learn...

The Boarding Marine makes me think of a BT for some reason, but i really like him, you should make another for yourself (Company Champion maybe?).

Graven.. Not much kitbashing on the model. Not much can be done to termies, thou tied to base it out with some realism. Some of you guys are kit bashing extremists. Never had that gift.

You can only get them by attending an event that FW is at and buying them in person. That's why I was lamenting buying only 1... no second chances.

Or eBay, but they are pretty crazy expensive.

At an event you can get them for $20 (US)... on e-bay, you can expect to pay twice that... perhaps more.

Awesome boarding marine! I really like what you've done with WM360's biker as well, that white suits the theme perfectly
