Hmmmm...... if i have a friend going to Games Day I might see if they can have a nose about for me.

Nice but far too out of my price range, especially now

Yes it is worth it at that price but I have to get to a FW event or pay through the nose on ebay.

Might send someone to Games day with £60 to make a squad of 5, should have saved some cash by then

Bet you're excited about the new assault marines!

Ok, so a sort of update. Things bit crazy here as it's #2son's 1st birthday tomorrow. No pics (yet... Maybe after kids in bed) but here's a rundown of currently on the workbench: if there's something specific you want to see, cast your vote as it were, and I'll make that a priority!
I've just about finished kitbashing a LS Tempest, Minotaur Termie Commander from IA10, Corteaz from djfrank's chaos warrior bits, half a squad of purifiers with home made incinerators, and the digger arm of #1's tank/excavator.

Answers on a postcard...

The missile pods look so much better there than sticking out from the back, truly nice work as always graven The armoured cockpit is a nice touch too, as is the LOS Assault cannon.

Well the side missiles, cannon and cockpit are what distinguishes a tempest from a typhoon. But I'm glad you liked

still like it though man, it looks really streamlined (definitely more so than the standard Speeder)

Thanks for all the comments guys. Yeah, I wanted to do something a bit chunkier - and cheaper! - than the fw version. Not sure if I'll do another, but it's eminently replicable.

Anyway, more stuff.

Mostly, on my phone.

Thanks guys.

@Knightly, hush, your stuff is awesome and as I've said a major inspiration.

@BH thanks bud, and now to shamelessly pinch your GK colour scheme...

@Revenant: Yeah, I love that owl, and it ties the GK/=I= to my Mentor Legion, too.

@poo: Cheers, one of those - I have the idea in my head, I wonder if this'll work? I'm very grateful to djfranq for the chaos warrior bits, more will probably become retinue.

@gits: Ta; and, yeah, he does like stealing my toys! Bits for a foamcore Stormlord that never quite happened, what's a guy to do eh?

I'm really happy with how the incinerators turned out, means I have a squad of 10 Purifiers with 4 burners, hurrah. I also made a Knight of the Flame from a Sternguard and Castellan Crowe from other bits.
I'll need to chuck my Paladins together (yes, they're grotesquely expensive, but they're damn near unkillable with an apothecary), which will be pretty vanilla - though the GKs were always supposed to be an easy side project for a quick, playable 1000 point army. And then there's the small matter of getting a Furioso to turn into a Psyfleman...

I'm going to make a list of everything still to do build-wise, as that might motivate me to get a move on (gulp).
Casting:
6 Owl helms
14 Winged pads
14 Chapter badge pads

Building:
GK Paladin Squad
IA9 special characters

Modelling:
Sternguard squads chains, clean-up
Jet bikes clean-up
Attack (jet) bikes
Tech jet bike servo arm, c-beamer, prow
MotF gs filling
Predator finish magnetising sponsons
Scout squad camo cloaks

Basing:
Dreadnoughts
Realm of Battle board (insofar as it needs to be textured to match my bases)

Painting:
Oh, everything.

Doesn't look quite so bad like that, does it?

Good advice my friends. My aim is to complete my builds of what's in front of me on the workbench, so that I clear that off for the next lot (which will be the sternguard and the jetbikes). IA9/10 guys will be a build project treat for another time, I think.

I forgot to add to the list:
GMS projects -
WM360: Weeping Angel biker (paint stage 2)
Gitsplitta: Weeping Angel Tactical marine (just hunted out the bits for him, I think I love him a little bit...)
Solar_Lion: Solar Lion chapter master Patroclus (paint stage 3), Solar Lion Champion The Iron Lion (paint stage 3)
endtransmission: counts-as Straken (paint stage 1)
