Hey guys,
Just a quick apology. After a hectic week at work, I had hoped to get through my GMS stuff this weekend, but I spent yesterday in hospital having woken up with crushing chest pains in the middle of the night. Not good. Turns out, after much poking, prodding, zapping etc, that I've managed to pull the muscles on the left side of my chest, which is infinitely preferable to anything else it could've been, but bloody uncomfortable.
Anyway, I'll try to get some paint on toys over the next couple of days.
Later,
graven.

Aw, thanks guys. Sore still but my bros-in-law are filling me with belgian wheat beer which helps vastly. Just a dull ache now really. I've got done stuff: paint 1 on counts-as Straken, painted interior of GK LRC, and 5 GK Paladins built (no tilt shields, they look rubbish, too busy). Next big build is a Furioso conversion to GK Ven Dread (Psyfleman/Psyflamer swappable) standing over a Dragon Lord dread wreck. Mebbe.

The GK dread was a treat for myself - well, went into gw for a finecast Termie Lib with the family and the wife's reaction was, "Seriously? You've dragged me in here and that's all you're getting?" Sorry dear, I'll go buy more toys...
He's largely built, with magna grapple and swappable Flamer/Halberd and Twin AC arms. Need to get some GK iconography on him though, pics later maybe, tomorrow if not. Tilt shields may finally have a home on this bad boy.

Hey gang, Proof that I have done some stuff when I should be prepping for a job interview: endtransmission's count-as Straken. This is just a first set of colours, really. And another view: Need to clean that heinous mould line I now see on the bottom of the plas! Just to show I haven't forgotten the great and glorious Mentor Legion, an experiment for the pack on assault marines: Helm looks odd in photo, not sure why. Hmm. And a slew of GK pics. First, not a GK - a very old Callidus, now with some paint: Obviously not actually a Callidus, but I think she does the job, no? Not sure how to do the pistol, thoughts? Picked up a finecast Libby, as mentioned. No obvious blemishes/holes, easy clean up, takes glue well and seems to be happy to have bits added. More to come on this, but I'm pretty sold, tbh. I was very impressed that I could shave the skull easily off the back of the hand and then attach it to the side of the sb. The resin is surprisingly durable. And now this gorgeous beast. Furioso no more... Bit of GS needed at the top of the blade on the lapel, and I'm not sure about the tilt shield/wings on the other lapel. The tilted up head, btw, is a nod to the fact that I conceived him as anti-air/rifleman. L'il bit of cleanup needed here also, I know, I know Weapon Loadouts. First up, Psyflamer version: Point out the gap at the top of the flamer cable at your peril! And the Psyfleman version: Playing against the glass ninjas tonight, 1250, going to run: Crowe 5 purifiers, 3 halberds/2incinerators 5 purifiers, 3 halberds/2incinerators 5 Paladins, apothecary, banner, falchions Librarian, 2 powers, homer LR Crusader. Comes in at 1217, so I'll juggle, maybe gate the LRC. I'll let y'all know how it goes! Later, and C&C as ever, graven

Wow, some great looking minis graven!
that is a pretty bad-a$$ mould line on the Plasma
One thing:
Theres some flash or something on the Librarian's banner and on his outstretched fingers.
For the Callidus, isnt there a Termagaunt size devourer? (the cone shaped one with lots of little holes in it), ive always thought that would fit a needle pistol (it is meant to be a Needle pistol right? :S)
The Dread is fantastic! the autocannons especially really look good
erm btw...theres a gap at the top of the flamer cable........... sorry couldnt help myself

ahh i see, me being silly as usual in that case..... im no help at all im afraid.
No worries on the Lib, i have heard on the grapevine that the flash is fairly easy to remove. also, judging from some examples of finecast i have seen (not all, but quite a few, you have been a little lucky in getting a model with no flaws. Quick Question, did you have to check any others for flaws/miscast?
I love the Dread too

Played GKs v eldar tonight. Won, but not a terribly satisfying game: GKs felt totally overpowered. I know that partly this is a problem with Eldar, but, still. Hmm.

I'm not sure, because I have only played one game vs eldar and I thrashed them, but it may the GK. In the tournament I played in on the wekend there were 4 Eldar players and one of them took 1st place so they must be competitive to some degree.
Did your opponent take the Eldar fella that makes psykers take their perils test with 3d6 rather than 2d6? I would have thought that would give the GK justicars a bit of trouble, it certainly shut down my SM Libby something wicked.

That's interesting guys about the psykers. To be fair, he assumed I was running SM or IG, so went without psykers and loaded up on Hawks, Scorpions, Reapers and Rangers.
Completely stuffed the Reapers and Scorpions deployment with 2 servo skulls placed strategically; general discussion among our usual crowd (SM, IG, SOB, and Daemons) was that at 5 points they're preposterously good.
Scorpions tried to put the hurt on Paladins but just got shrugged off. I have to say I wasn't overly impressed by the apothecary, at 75 pts he's a big buy when I could have another Paladin with Falchions.
Crowe took down Morgan Ra (sic) terrifyingly nasty.
Hawks managed to disable LRC, though not before being absolutely crucified by Hurricane Bolters (psybolt ammo on LRC FTW!)
Termie Libby did well, very versatile, wasn't sold on the paying for powers thing but it meant I could have maximum versatility (Sanctuary and Sith Lightning v potent). Purifiers were good but are, relatively speaking, quite fragile, so I'll need to watch that.
It was a good learning experience for us both but not necessarily a great game. Rematch in a fortnight though!
Oh, and @ Knightley: what can I say, I'm a bad person. It's actually a pretty quick and easy conversion, assuming you've got 4 IG ACs kicking about. Furioso lends itself well to the job (but just ask BH, I've been planning this for about a year!)
