Farty Wiffmas - Thank you. A beast tamer sounds rather cool, like the Rancor Keeper in Return of The Jedi.

HF Izanagi - Sounds like I should have kept him as a chaos lord....with the classic mutation of thumb head (I'd mis read your comment but though thumb head sounded funny).

Martin27 - Say Hi to Ben for me. Cheers, looking forward to seeing your Wolves completed.

I had some good and bad progress on the model this weekend. I also got to enjoy the last BBQ of the year...cooked in the garage while hiding from the torrential rain.

The good is that he is somewhat further on than I had hoped, got the axe haft and arms attached, built the power pack and have started on the mask design for the pacifier helm. The bad was that I got really off when I drilled right through the power pack though and through vent detail. This put me behind schedule having to find something to stick over the hole.

Now look what Migs has gone and done....its look great so far

Hey PDH. i noticed Migs wonderful creation and had me a little chuckle , could be the start of another unofficial pimp my wizard contest methinks.

smells like you making progress though, or is that just burnt sausages!

Hey Neil. I'm afraid it was a halal BBQ, so no sausage.....the chunks of curried lamb and thin burgers were delicious though. I quite fancy bbq sausage now...perhaps it wont be the last bbq of the year after all.

Progress is good. I'm hoping that this evening I'll get the pacifier helm and massive head cable sorted out.

Can't wait to see the helm :-) Any ideas for a paint scheme for the pair of them yet? I've posted some Wolves up, finally, and will put up a load more over the next few days I hope.

Morning Martin - The helm is going well, I'll hopefully have some pics tomorrow night. As for the colour scheme normalish coloured skin, black armour with metallic edges. The overall theme of this monodominant Inquisitor and her retinue will be black/dark colours, hammer horror. I want to purest warband to also look the most evil and frightening...through religious fanaticism, blind faith and an unhealthy willingness to burn a whole village, just in case there was a heretic amongst them.

Since I joined Dakka and started taking photographs of models I have found them to be an invaluable modelling tool. To see how things look frozen. Looking at the model in my hand moving it, changing the angle show me a lot, give me a feel for the model. But frozen taking away the slight shake of my hand shows me other more technical errors so to speak. Here, for example, the face mask in the photo is partially off because of the angle and partially because the horizontal dash above the eye slit horizontal has slipped. Ah well it is fixable with a little cutting and green stuff...

so far I am very happy how he is going...literally transplanting the model from chaotic fantasy to Imperial 40k.

And doing a bang-up job of it. This guy looks totally awesome, PDH! He looks like he would do more than just burn a village. Excellent stuff. Keep it up!

Moltar - One word form his mistress he would slowing burn and behead babies. An unthinking, unquestioning automaton. Cheers

HF Izanagi - I have such a desire to get another one and give him a thumb head though.

inmygravenimage - Thank you.... hmmmm the clone trooper aspect is an accident.....

Should I make the bottom of the =I= solid all the way across?

The mask is great Peter and it actually starts coming together now, he doesn't look like fantasy or chaos at all now, a fine henchman.
I got mine today and I'm currently considering using him as a base for the leader of my Espantajos, but I'm not sure yet.

Oh man! That guy looks so awesome! The mask is really amazing and such a great touch. It really makes the model, in my opinion. The only problem I see so far is that the belly button looks too far down on the stomach. I get that otherwise it would be behind the axe handle and maybe look odd not having it shown, but it just looks a little off to me being way at the bottom of his gut. Nitpicking aside, I'm absolutely loving this model!

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Make it a bionic belly button.......
The mask is immense though. Looking incredibly sinister. Red and gold, or black?

Chibi Bodge-Battle - Just the effect I was after

inmygravenimage - Ok. I'll leave it.

neil101 - No he is really is 28mm. *bandum cha* Sorry that was a terrible pun

The Good Green - Again, thank you....the menacing comments really are reassuring

Baiyuan - Hmmmmm from looking and playing with the model he doesn't scream leader material. Would be interesting to see what you do with him.

Cadaver - He had to have a belly button. I could always redo it about about half a mm up. But having studied pics of obese men on the internet recently (had to delete my browser history) belly buttons seem to be up and down and all over.

Martin27 - While it is 40k and I'm sure there is nothing weirder that a bionic belly button. Armour will be black with silver edging. The mask will be the same but the =I= will be gold.]

Thanks for the comments guys really motivating. I think I'll only watch about two hours of 24 tonight (assuming the episode cliff hanger isn't too shocking).

Scarper - Cheers. As soon as I wanted to 40k him I wanted to do that to the mask.

Vitruvian XVII - Thanks. CMDante said the same thing. To which I replied "I thought I was taking inspiration from the Arco Flags but now you've mentioned the thorian mask I might have used that subconsciously. I did study the Arcos when thinking about the design though."

Do you have plans for his loin-chains? I think they need something to pull them away from chaos. Just a thought.

The loin chains are ok I'd say, they look gothic, but not necessarily chaotic imo, I mean it's the inquisition, they are into gothic.

You might be right about him not striking as a leader type. The problem is I'm having lots of trouble coming up with a concept for the leader of the rebels. He has to combine features of a mine worker and a political leader, without looking like some cultist preacher. I would like to have a subtle "Fidel Castro"-touch on him, but I don't want to overdo it. Anyway, base model wise the nurgle lord seems to be an interesting start and we will see if it works out when I get there, but I'm still owing everyone a wizard...

I've just had to put the brute down....or I'll bugger up his GS nipples and purity seals. He has rather large nipples, I'm rather happy with his nipples.

Anyway enough about that. I'm really excited by this one! I wish the gs would dry so I could finish him tonight. But alas that isn't going to happen. He is now also too far along for a WIP shot.

The Good Green - The chain mail is staying. I've been reading the source book Dark Heresy: Blood of Martyrs for inspiration and chain mail fits right in with the ecclesiarchy. The area is a combination of blessed sackcloth and sanctified chain mail....besides under the four large purity seals you cannot see that much of it at the front.

Baiyuan - I imagine that if you give the Nurgle Lord a nice boiler suit he could fit in. I also guess that you would need to choose the perfect head...like Migs has done with his.

Now go paint

Good afternoon

I think it is finished! I was meant to be going out for the day but unfortunately it was cancelled last minute, leaving me with some free time .

I cannot describe how happy I am with him! It looks just like how I imagined him whilst pouring over the white dwarf image.

Migs after seeing Weapon Smith Borsus I had to go back to my base and add the pipe at the rear...though it was fitting

He is absolutely fantastic. Great choice on all of the bits. That lamp/sign post is amazing as a back banner for him. You did just what I was hoping for with the loin-chains. It was the nurgle icon that I was really speaking of, more so than the chains. I couldn't really picture it, besides nondescript cloth over the chains, but what you have done with them is brilliant (love the censor... love everything about him really). All the seals speak to a long and bloody career.

Excellent work!
