As far as stretches... I guess I'm of th opinion that it shouldn't cost you that much more than the base product to access the stretch goals. Your basic product that is being funded level should include stretches.

Agreed. And if you do clealry have to pay more for stetches, then wow us a tiny bit.

I'll back normal and if stretches get good, up it. Otherwise I can do without the blank cards or a plastic ball. The prisoner art is pretty though. The shipping really is a pain, but I'll get over it. But they will need to do better to get that extra $40 out of me than what we see so far for $200k.

To be clear, I am happy with what I get at $90 or $110. A good deal I think overall. But I am going to be ebenezer scrooge with that last $40. lol. I hope Gamezonecan show me the ghost of christmas future with awesome.stretch goals to make me change my scroogelike ways.

I just think it's going to suffer considerably when people compare it to Brimstone, which just finished.

It needs add ons... my god its 1,300 backers and only got 200k. Even if they get to the 5,000 backers that KD:M and Brimstone reached they won't even reach a million. So far, that says something about the base game. I hope they add shipping to the pledge total cause clearly, about 25% of these big projects are just funding the shipping. KD:M said what, $400k out of 2 million dedicated to shipping, and that will probably have gone up by the time it ships.

Man, someone needs to tell them that "bright and easily read" pictures means more money.

I can't believe how little you can see in those dark bland pictures. Not a good presentation.

Looks like the US copyright is still active, but is held by an individual who registered it in 1980. The trademarks for HeroQuest in the US have all expired though.

I'm still not certain about this, they haven't answered the whole copyright issue and it still seems murky. I would definitely avoid this if you live in the UK as the the copyright is still active with Hasbro. Depending which department oversees the copyright, they could ignore it or go full hog on shutting this down.

Doesn't that copyright of HeroQuest predate the publication of the game by an entire decade?

Something doesn't seem right about that. I hate legal discussions, especially ones surrounding this game, but that's a pretty clear oddity and could use some explanation if true.

My guess is that it allows the charging of postage to US-based backers, while still retaining the friendly dollar sign $

I don't think free shipping is necessary to the 'home' country, just customary. I certainly wouldn't complain if it turned out to be free Canadian shipping.

Just looked up the name of the owner, it is held by Francis Gregory Stafford, the founder of Chaosium. It's not some unrelated copyright.

Entirely your choice! I do that exact thing with my PC/Steam games.

I am thinking about it, I am hesitant to back it just now, but then am reminded of Zombicide where I managed to keep the main game and make a slight profit by just selling the 6 pack of Stretchgoal Zombie-vivors to some French guy on ebay.
I'm not counting on the same thing happening here but will want to see what sort of sweet Stretches there are before going for the highest tier.

I would like to see the unlocked stretch goals rather than the mystery secret. at the moment hype is smashing us through these goals but as things settle down a bit I think it would get more folks increasing their pledge.

I'm ot 100% sure, but there's this:

How do I charge shipping on my reward?
In general, the cost to mail your backers their rewards (postage, envelopes, etc.) should be taken into account when you set your goal and price your rewards.

Keep in mind that unless you specify otherwise, backers can pledge to your project from anywhere in the world. It’s always fun to have a backer from across the globe, but it can also mean paying for international postage to send rewards overseas.

If that’s something you’ve worked into your project’s budget, great. As you build your rewards, though, you’ll see that you have the option to charge an additional shipping fee to international backers. To do that, simply select “Shipping anywhere in the world,” when you add a reward, then, “Add fee.” The additional price will be included in the reward description, and international backers will be prompted to enter the additional amount to their pledge.

That's very, very confusing. Can't I just pledge the base game for now and they could send me the bill for shipping when the pledge manager goes online?

As much as I loved heroquest, I am a bit perturbed by this project.

These guys have made this money through strength of brand alone! they have no shots of minis, a blurry shot of the game, minimal concept art and paltry stretches with few updates. any other kickstarter and this would be avoided like the plague...

I thought I was a sure pledge on this, but I have a bad feeling about this. the blurb has nothing on work they have done to this point! Tell me Im missing something here!

Coolmandool - Gamezone is no 'fly by night' company. Take a look at their website, they have some of the best fantasy miniatures on the market. Extremely well respected, some very talented sculptors, the only negative about them is that their miniatures are expensive (up until recently, they only produced metal) but they've been used as stand-ins for WFB for many years. I own a bunch of their undead and dwarf ranges and can vouch for their quality.

Love the description of this chap on BGG: "Francis Gregory Stafford (born February 9, 1948 in Hartford Connecticut) is an American game designer, game publisher, and shaman."

Didn't know if you were referring to the creator of both the originator of Heroquest and Space Crusade, but looked it up and it was Steve Baker. One of those really mysterious sounding stories where he designed both games and then emigrated overseas to America, and wasn't apparently ever involved in games design again - but left two absolute classic games that would still be almost venerated more than 20 years later..

Game Zones one and only comment to date has been to say update 1 will go out at 18EST 00CET 23GMT today/tonight. I'm guessing there is a serious language barrier here if they aren't getting involved in the comments and need a day to write an update. I guess this KS will be very short on creator participation.

I'd rather see Advanced HeroQuest rebooted, but this looks interesting. I still have the original figures, although sold the box with board and GM screen on ebay last year. Not sure what happened to my Adv. HQ stuff though, will go search the garage later...

The barriers of language is too a matter of concerning for the production of book of rules. Will the rules much like the KS front page and Avatars of War Warthrone of Saga, also being written in the Spanglish?

They've said they'll get proper translators to handle it. I'm less concerned as I still have the original and I'm more interested in updating the parts I can use the original rules that said I'd like a properly translated updated rule set as well but I can see why it's a bigger issue for others.

Ok guys... lets be honest. GameZone is not a company with 10 years of history or anything, GameZone is the "company" owned by a shopkeeper called Dionisio. This guy used to hire some sculports back in the days to do some random minuatures. All the minis they show in the video are miniatures sculped by a guy called Pedro, this sculptor left GameZone 5 or 6 years ago.

From then this company has done nothing but going down. In the last 5 years they have done nothing special, all the things were made because the european distributor "e-minis" coached them to keep releasing new content. And thats what happened, Dionisio had Pedro anymore so gz started making gakky miniatures from regular sculptores... not just bad miniatures, but manufactured with defects in a low quality resin.

In the last years GZ has been quite famous in Spain ( my country ) for releasing low quality miniatures which needed putty...

Also this company is so well known for being masively late with shipments even inside Spain, and sending lot of them wrong. They used the most cheaper shipping company and it have been always a totally dissaster, they never changed these polytics btw.

The end of ths story is what you guys are seeing. They look for some famous miniature game license, the owner of HQ in spain will take a % of the sales so GZ have this license for free in Spain.

GZ is just a guy, not a team, he is not an illustrator, not a sculptor or anything. He is an old man who managed things so bad in this business for the years. I will wait to see this product available in shops and check the end result with my eyes. Till then I will give nothing else for free / in advance, I hope nothing good from them, will never do. I am not mentioning how bad they are doing things right now with this KS, you can check it out your own and have your own opinion, but the past is more important for me.

Got any links to forum posts or anything to back this up? I know the language barrier is going to kill us when trying to get to the truth of this...

There have been some odd mutterings on BGG about this project...

Don't forget the free stretch goals that only cost you $41...

It seems to be fairly common that people are getting odd feelings about this project, I'm actually pretty glad that I'm not the only one.

I really wanted this to be a spectacular project, unfortunatly this wasn't the project I was looking for. This may sound bad, but I'd actually like whoever actually owns the rights/trademarks/copyright too this game to put a stop to it, partner with a company more known for boardgames and rerelease it. This game could use the Merchant of Venus treatment.

I only have one blister by Gamezone, and their minis aren't very common in my area, so I can't really deny or support what he is saying.
